Cheers, i'll give them a bell. They need painted/powder coated black then polished. I'll end up doing them myself i think as no one in scotland seems to do polished alloy wheel refurbishment.

Just got my 15" classics from ebay.de but they look just as ugly as the pictures so can anyone recomend a good wheel company? Phoned a couple local to me but as soon as I asked about polishing or cut finish they didn't want to know. I might end up sticking them in a lathe myself but i'd rather get them powder coated than painted. Cheers

Poly Bush Full Kit. Is this a good price? Or should I just fit new rubber?

I guess it depends on how your wanting your car to end up. I'm just happy that the wishbones are connected to the car but if your going for a weekend toy then go for it but for a daily driver i'd stick with the OEM. P.s The audi tt bush looks like a good idea whatever your doing. -
Another scottish corrado, great stuff and hello! I've got a 150k mile car so trust me, it's going to need some time and money. However this is the place to be if you find your corrado has a little more character than it should.

Welcome, great to see yet another Glasgow corrado newbie.

7hrs later and I still can't get the front subframe off?
elliott replied to elliott's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah, new cars are no fun. They always get you to where your going and never want for anything. :) Off to nextyre tomorrow for a full alignment so I'll know if all the work was worth it, on the plus side the down pipe is no longer hitting the steering rack which is nice. -

JOB DONE! Finished up at 12.30am after many days of fighting rusty snapped bolts and crusty pipes. Old cars rock! (untill the next problem) -
Is the tap you're using M12X1.0?

If i knew it was going to take this long and involve so much swearing I'd have left it well alone but needs must, my car drove like a shopping trolley and this should bring it back. (I hope) -
Hello, at this price I'd guess its a 2L 16V. I've just bought a car of the same value and of course its far from perfect but it has got some potential. Things I'd look out for if looking at another one would be: Front landing panel under the radiator, check for rust. Engine mounts, you'll feel the car shake when idle. Suspension mounts, bushes and top mounts, especially if its lowered. Play in steering. Check rear arches for signs of filler/rust. Feel under the lip for lumps. Check behind the corrado badge on the rear for rust, pop the boot and feel round the back of it. This list could go on but driving it should let you know..... Just some pointers as I've looked at a few cheap corrados and all of them had suffered from some poor maintenance, but if your handy with the spanners it'll save you some cash but be prepared to spend as corrados are getting old now and all the good ones rarely come up for sale. Good luck.

Had a look around and couldn't see any so I'm just going to weld another nut into the frame. Bloody nightmare but it'll all come together eventually. thanks. -

This corrado ownership is starting to grind me down. After drilling the bolt out so I could remove the wishbone i've found the hole in the subframe has no thread? It looks like its been botched in the past and a nut has been fitted to the back of the wishbone bolt inside the subframe. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I'm now thinking about a second hand subframe (if such a thing exists) or welding a nut back into the frame I have (steering geometry aint going to be 100%) -

Got the standard bushes already and i don't really want to spend too much on the old girl. The hubs are still on the car hanging from the struts but yeah its all scary when it comes to the dealers. -
This just happened to me today, horrible nasty feeling when it snapped. Drilling it tomorrow now that i've seen this.

Thank you all, subframe just hit the floor after some persuasion from mr crow bar. The gear box mount bolt snapped so that'll give you the idea of the state of my car. wishbone bushes, arb bushes, bottom ball joints, track rod ends and engine mounts are the order of today. Anything else i've missed lol. That steering knuckle joint looks like fun to put back on... any tips please? ---------- Post added at 05:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 PM ---------- Just snapped one of the bolts that holds the wishbone on, time for a beer.... -
I'd buy a good corrado...

Just spent a long day under the c trying to pull the frame out but i've run out of steam... Got all the bolts out with only one needing some extra attention but it seems the engine mounts are rusted onto the engine brackets? Can anyone help? Looks like an expensive time ahead, the list of parts is getting longer by the day....:pale:

Just for fun.... I'll get some serious pictures up soon, spending all my time getting the garage ready for the two projects just now but the weather was just too good not to get out on the water.

Needing a good non rusty wing please, in moonlight blue but not important. Are the early ones different? Thanks elt

Had thought about the red tartan trim from the series 1 gti but my car has the grey interior so it wouldn't work. Like i said it's just an idea for now, the car needs a lot more work before i can start playing with wheels and stripes but the plan has been set. All i need now is the time and money pfft...
