  2. My ex girlfriend described it as a "money pit" Probably one of the reasons she left me. She really resented me spending all my cash on it. No regrets at all, haha!!
  3. I represent churchill at work and know that all calls are recorded. In this example, the modification was disclosed. The advisor was happy that there would be no additional loading on the premium. But......... If they indicate that the mod wont appear on your documents, one way to protect yourself from future disputes is to simply record the time/date of the conversation and the name of the advisor. This way, you can refer them to the conversation if there is ever a problem and they can listen to the call themselves to confirm you did tell them.
  4. Do any additional components need to be protected when cleaning a G60 engine?? I take it it's ok for the charger to get a little soaking??
  5. Last year i did about 2300 miles so this is now getting silly. I reckon this is low, but each year my garage says another customer with a mk1 (some old boy in his 70's) only does 150 miles between his visits. Haha! he must do most of those miles driving to have his car tested!!
  6. I agree with brisolbaron. Doesnt sound like anything too scary, just seems that way coz its all come at once. Once you've repaired it, i reckon you'll have something more valuable than you would have if you broke it.
  7. Hi mate. I'm a motor claims handler and can tell you this is standard practice. If an insurance company is notified of an accident where there is potential for claim from a third party insurer (in this case, for personal injury), they are obliged to leave the claim open (usually for 6 months) just in case they receive allegations from the pedestrian, their solicitors etc. After this period, the claim can be closed as a nonfault claim and your brothers no claims discount would be reinstated. Under these circumstances, your brother would receive a refund , backdated, for any additional premium he had paid since his renewal.
  8. The guy in that link complains about highway not covering the wear and tear which resulted in the fire. No insurance company covers wear and tear so it is normal for and insurance company to only cover the damage that came as a result of it. For example, if a faulty loom caused and engine fire, on a comp policy, any damage to the engine would be covered but the cost of the loom would not.

  11. My friend recently fitted a new head unit in his mk4 golf. Only thing is, the indicators have gone crazy!! They flash when the car is locked/unlocked so thats ok But they dont work while driving or when the hazards are switched on. I've never fittedone my self so can you guys help??????????

  13. I agree with everyone here. The previous owner of my G60 was not an enthusiast so it came to me in standard form. It certainly wasnt pampered by the guy. As soon as i bought it, i had the charger serviced and all the essentials checked. That was nearly 4 years ago and i havent had a single problem with reliability. Maybe i've just been lucky.

  15. My contact with GPC has always been over the phone. Each time and without exception, i found them (or perhaps its the same guy each time) rude and abrupt. Perhaps working with inanimate plastic mouldings has rendered them completely joyless?

  17. In my experience they cant get their customers off the phone quick enough. No service with a smile at that gaff. They dont even pretend to be friendly! Come on guys!! How about a bit customer service! Is it me?!

  20. Mine stopped working once. I had to climb in to the boot (lucky i'm only 5'6"), remove the plastic cover. In my case, the lever that is operated by pressing the button had become detached. It just clipped back into place, hey presto!! No problems since and i now know that i can fit a body in the back of the Corrado!!
  21. Are these avaliable as a VW part? Did they feature as standard on an VW's? I'm looking for some black smoked ones but they must be the same shape as the originals. Where should i go to fetch em? Ta
  22. Glad youre ok after the accident mate. I'm a motor claims handler and i'm happy to say i've never processed a claim involving a Corrado.
