  1. As above, o think your best course of action is to put it through an MOT and it'll give you an idea on cost to recommission it. Factor in a full service as well though. Where are you located? Most consumable items are still available and don't cost the earth, so a friendly local member may be able to help do some of the work you're not comfortable with. Unless bodywork or a full engine strip down is required, it should be achievable to do on your drive. Best of luck with whatever you decide! 👍
  2. Got mine from AVS Spares. Always been perfectly good even if a budget brand. https://www.vwspares.co.uk/VW_Corrado_Brakes-Misc.php?model=2.0 16v
  3. Heads are exactly the same. Only difference is bore size (obviously), inlet manifold, and throttle body if OBD2 from a MK3. The performance gains are mostly in the inlet manifold and management.
  4. Someone on Facebook wanted £75 for a second hand one too. I said about this and also that LHD apparently fit fine, but he wasn't interested and said to go with that then. He's obviously in the habit of pulling people's pants down. I thought throttle cables were long since NLA but glad I checked now, so make sure you do a bit of research on parts availability and cost I'd say.
  5. Just for future reference, I found one from an eBay seller in Latvia. Takes a few weeks to arrive, but I've had a few bits from them recently and they've been top notch. Worked out approx £60 delivered.
  6. I know that feeling well mate. In fairness, most of mine now have a line through them as done/bought, so it's just the 'wants' rather than the 'needs' now.
  7. Pffff, paper list. I have 2. Also have a list on my phone, and a white board in the garage! Lol
  8. Glad to hear it Jim! Hope you've been keeping well. Last I heard you were feeling a bit of a pull toward getting another!?
  9. Coming along nicely! If you've got a couple of those disks spare, I'd love a pair please mate! I reused my old ones but one has fallen off. Where did you get the material from?

    Stainless hack!

Yep, gives a great even shine. Just a small amount on kitchen roll and rub over over. 👍

    Stainless hack!

So, I've got a stainless pizza oven for the garden, and there's a FB group and everything! One of the members posted a vid showing a few stainless steel cleaners/restorers side by side on his oven. Anyway, he's into his bikes and apparently it's a well known hack on bike forums to clean exhausts. It's Harpic 10x cleaner! The wife had some in her kitchen cupboard 😉😁 so I thought I'd try it. That was after a quick 20 second blitz with a cap full and a nail brush. Pretty chuffed with the results to be honest! Quick and very cheap way to restore your stainless bits that are long tarnished. Your welcome! 👍
  12. Holy thread revival! Nearly 4 years old mate! Not sure Clumpy frequents here anymore, though you may get a drunken rant calling you a dick for no apparent reason! 😂
  13. I'm after a new (or used) throttle cable - must be the hook type for VR6 RHD. Many thanks
  14. No they were early and 4 stud only. Have a look at banded sebrings, look amazing with a lip! 👍
  15. Absolutely. This is the first time I've seen one for sale in 9 years of ownership - though admittedly, I've not really looked. Even if there were half a dozen in every dealership though, it wouldn't have amounted to many and most were probably destroyed or returned when they went out of service
  16. Mine too! How people use them and keep from getting grubby finger prints on the pages is a mystery to me! Lol
  17. Burning oil gives off a blue tinged smoke mate. You can smell it as well if it's bad. If it's constant White smoke then it could be burning water indicating water/coolant in the system. I've not watched the vid admittedly, but a bit on blipping the throttle from start up is quite normal especially in older cars. Black smoke usually indicates a mixture issue - usually if running too rich so overfuelling. As with all of the above, a little on revving up usually isn't anything to worry about. On over run though as you come off the throttle and revs are dropping or as mentioned if it's constant, that's usually a sign something is wrong.
  18. That's so not funny, ask me. I know! Literally the day it was back on the road after respray - and wheel refurb, some stupid woman decided her Audi A4 would fit up the road with cars parked on her side. I was already half way down and had right of way, but I was forced to curb an alloy or lose my wing mirror! Not happy at all but as you said, at least it's not the bodywork.
  19. Wait til winter then! White smoke isn't a worry, it's blue or black that'll cost you money! The stainless exhausts hold a fair bit of moisture so when running from cold - especially in winter, you'll see quite a bit of white smoke (steam) emitting from it.
  20. Haha, love it! The excitement gets to you doesn't it! You'll get all precious about the car now though, just don't be afraid to drive it. My respray (and all the other costs replacing trim etc to make it look nice and new as well) cost more than twice what I paid for the car also. It's been off the road for 3 years but I still get nervous when the kids go in the garage! Lol. Looks stunning btw. 👍
  21. Sounds quite tappy but it's always exacerbated by recording. May just needva good service and blast to free up and lubricate the cam followers. Not a fan of that exhaust either. If it stays within estimate then I'd say it's worth a punt, but much more than that even with it being low mileage is a gamble.
  22. Both long sold their Corrado, but we're occasional posters prior to paid subscription. Think we may lose that knowledge and experience now though. 😟
  23. Yeah still have them. They were a little loose on the studs so a hot air gun to soften the plastic and close the openings slightly has made them nice and snug again
