  1. Good luck getting a genuine handbrake cable. VW in thier wisdom no longer supply hand brake cables for Mk2 Golfs :epicfail: What hope do we have? The alternatives from ECP seem to be good quality and at a dicounted £5 each. I couldn't complain.
  2. Try TPS if there is one near you. £6.40 for a genuine filter :)
  3. It sounds like your brake system needs bleeding to me :)
  4. Sounds like the battery to me. Try a battery from another car just to make sure :)
  5. Just checked and it's already gone. Sorry!
  6. My cover has coped with the last couple of frosts OK. It dries off really quickly once the sun comes out.
  7. I'll confirm by the weekend if that's OK?
  8. I may be able to get hold of one. £60 plus plus courier costs :)
  9. It's a direct fit. The roof from a Passat estate fits the best.
  10. IIRC It's only the VAG ones which need bumper mods. Work that out, plus they were a £700 optional extra :cuckoo:
  11. I've had a couple of Mk3's didn't keep either of them for over a month. Too slow and stodgy! Give me a Corrado or a Mk2 any day.
  12. Looking good Michael. I didn't realise that your were back down South.
  13. Decided to refurb The Golf's rear brakes for want of something to do. All parts sourced from TPS with the exception of the handbrake cables from Euro Car Pats as they are obsolete from VW  Before Powder coating Work in progress End result :D The next step will be to retro fit PAS.
  14. Cheers i think i'll just get that and fix it myself... i presume these things come without greese, so i'll have to purchase a tub of car spunk for it too?[/quote:2r9aayb3] you need special grease for it mate, i'd ask kev. I think he has about 5 tubs of the stuff! (and before you ask.. no i don't think you can use any old grease :( )[/quote:2r9aayb3] Im not saying it's the right thing to do but I used bog standard grease when I did the rebuild about five or six years ago. No reported problems so far :)
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I've just ordered some :D
  16. That price was for the parts alone. I don't have the parts numbers but I think there is a repair kit for each side and you will also need the two lifters (left and right). It's worth replacing all these parts to eliminate any weak links and having to do the job twice.
  17. If these go I'll eat my hat http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alloy-Wheels-BBS- ... 45f62d28ca
  18. Kris, I would drop the moonroof back in as temporary measure, whilst you save up for the parts to repair the original. I did mine a few years ago and to replace the cables lifters etc was about £120 with discount.
  19. I forgot to add that the Halfords one seems to breathe well. I have had no problems with condensation.
  20. It has an elasicated bottom edge and two underbody straps which have survived a few high winds this year. It's a near perfect fit on the Golf and should be an even better fit on Corrado due to the reduced height. If you use the Top cash back web site to order or reserve you get some extra discount too :)
  21. The Halfords medium car cover is good news. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165611 I have used one on my Golf for the past few months and I have no complaints so far :D :D
  22. You can get basic AA cover for £7 if you use http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ and £50 off some of the more expensive policies. Been using this site for ages and have saved myself a fortune. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you a link so that you get credit for joining and I ger some cash for the referal :D. I didn't believe it but there are no catches.
  23. Try assisting the roof with your hand to help the motor. If that works the motor is probably on its way out.
