Yeah i dont know a few people i have spoken to have gotten a nice power hike by getting more air into the charger. Mind you these are on either 16vG60's or big valve heads, so the flow rate will be increased

What sort of diameter is the boost pipework recomended for a G60? I know G Man posted up here before what sort of size tubing should be used, but i cant find it. also what materials are best for making pipework and insulating it against heat soak etc? Prob a bit ott, but i want to run a twin ilet setup so i want to run a pipe to the battery side for a second airbox

Here is my effort, again a DIY job

Well, they did sell here, not in huge amounts mind you, there are quite a few about and the meets are generally focused around track days or rolling road days I am based in Dublin But they have a big following here now! We gotta try and plan a big corrado meetup here!
-
Here is a pic i pinched off vortex  this gives you the rallye or golf g60, not sure which, intercooler in a corrado, the problem i have is as the inlet is on the lft in the pic it wont fit with my setup, hence the intake and output on the right as you look at the pic is my sloution... just wonder do people rekon it will work well or not

Neil i had the "hang on revs thing" with my G60 abd when i disconnected the electrical connection from the isv it cured it, is it ok other than that? Does it rev up when you turn it on first?
-
Yeah i know the one, thats a fairly big one alright! Hmm, well i think i will be going that way soon enough My Rallye intercooler wont allow my to fit the alternator under the Supercharger as the pipes go straight into where the alternator has to go!
-
@Gibber, thanks for that, great link too! @Gearoid, see if you can get a pic of that one
-
Thanks Mark, do you have any pics of it? I was thinking that it would be not a bad design but was curious about if they were restrictive I know the car that Marks intercooler was in made 225bhp as a G60 so it cant be bad. @Dinkus a mail is being sent to them, thanks
-
that looks like the sprinter intercooler and as a result in a real pain to fit, i think Gman had one in his old Corrado, but the intakes and outlet pipes are in a very ackward place for a corrado
-
@Kev, thats the kind of answer i was hoping for  Has anyone experience of these design, I presume there is not a bottle neck in it as the airflow comes back on itself
-
no i dont mean the size i mean the inlet and outsel on the one side, that way you could use an rs outlet from the charger and then a straight pipe to the inlet manifold. Thats the idea anyway..
-
What do you all think of this type of intercooler? Are they very restrictive due to the inlet and outlet design? Any input would be appreciated Thanks

sorry to do a little hi jack, but is a corrado fuse box the same as a mk3 on fro a gti?

G60 X-flow - Anyone completed one of these yet ?

Henny hit the nail on the head, a car with 300bhp and rubbish suspension could be effectivly slower than a 1L micra  through any involving roads -
Need a Video of the VR6 Corrado being put through its paces.

honda is a damn sight lighter, If you want a fast reliable FWD coupe buy an integra type R as it is the best you can get,, LSD standard and phenominal handling,, they are awesome,, But integra's are bean cans! a corrado is a quite capable track car, they are heavy but they handle very very well. with a diff and a suspension upgrade, even a 1.8 16v can be some propper fun  -

my 2 cents as i said Leon, opinions differ, but i would consider a contraflow setup neater. Regarding the 16vg60 alternator, i did indeed mean the right hand drive one, if we used the left hand deive one you have massive belt slip and as you pointed out it will hit the servo  Plus isnt that left hand drive  -

Personal opintion i supose, i was looking at the black golf in the old pvw with the 8v crossflow and it does seem to be quite neat, but witha G60 in there too your going to fast run out of space for the manifold and need to use a 16vg60 alternator setup. Just my 2cents worth -

well that is true but to be honest with the right suspension setup and tyres you can put quite a bit down and there is always traction control to help  -
Probably a stupid question but are all map sensors effectivly the same. I assume so except for the ratings, ie 2 bar, 3 bar etc Thanks

realisticly the head will cost a fair bit, but i think it could be worth it. I am in the process of building a 16VG60 for a long time, but thats due to both time and money constraints, i have been watching the info on the new 8v heads from eurospec and now this G werks head, it is quite interesting as the crossflow 8V head does in my opinion look quite messy and you can have some space issues. With the new counterflow heads they look factor, which is a major plus. A 16VG60 can look factory but if you want power you change it  BHP is dependant on many things realisticly most 16vG60's will top out at 250-280 bhp You can get and has been done 270bhp out of a eurospec 8v contraflow so it is a lot cheaper and a torque monster like all forced induction 8v motors -

Thats it, the early ones are 1985/6, i had one of them, the cars were the 42mm inlet, like the corrado, it is a different head, the later ones were revised and apparently twice the 9a doesnt seem to flow as well even though it is supposed to be near identical to the kr the abf is a 150bhp engine out of the box and the head seeming responds better to porting than the kr Plus some mad dutvh man can make it into a nig valve head  To totally mess things up, the big valve abf head is no good for turbo's it lets the gas flow too well  This came from Jerone Dik, who had a buyer for one of the big valve heads but he advised against it -

The Kr, 9A and ABF heads are quite simular From my reading and information the ABF and the later casting KR(apparently there were 3 types of head) are best. They are supposed to have bigger internal porting. This is what the machine shop i left my car into said. He knows his Vw's he was the lad who had the "original tuning box" agency -

Henny, that will be interesting alright! I know there was a eurospec mk1 G60 done by stealth that was putting out 270 bhp AFAIK. It was for sale on here a while ago. It is interesting to see what can be done with an 8v setup now!
