 @ Kev, projects are never finished! i had plans and they all changed, you have it worked out then you read about something else and it seems a really good idea an d then you change what your doing. I want my car to look fairly standard outside, just with the cage, not for looks for functionality  now i gotta get stuck in, having a daily driver corrado and a project is a nice way to be

i have a wiechers cage waiting to be collected and then fitted, also some mods to front subframe and wishbones, its not a daly driver but i want to be able to have fun on track with it  I know a bolt in cage is not as good but it will do for now, i also dont want to loose my boot Whats sort of spec are you hoping for with your car when finished?
-
Cheers Kev, i think that might be a good start, my car is going to be concrete if i can ever get it bac k from the body shop  , the prob with mates doing the work, not that i am complaining i saw the trimsport one before and do like it, do you run one Kev?

-
tell me about it, it is not a nice thing to happen, i had it on my vre6, the fooking car is costing me a fortune to rebuild, but it will be better than original now, the lines on the side of the block chaff off the wires for the air sensor

I have an 02A box sitting on the garage floor and i am going to get a diff for it, but beforehand i want to clean it down and tidy the whole thing up, paint the case and maybe steam clean it. is there much of a job to remove the internals, i have stripped gearboxes down before, but never an 02A. I know a good pullers is needed, but anyone done it before? Thanks

thats the one, i know there can be a bit of a time delay, but my car will be luckey to be fineished by christmas, due to moving house and having no time, so i think its the way to go.

i got a quote of under £480 landed in ireland from the us including everything, so i assume the uk would be the same price

There is a 3M bodyshop cutting copmpound/polish, i had a tornado red 16v before that was tornado pink, it got 3m'd and was fine, it just needed to be polished on a regular basis to keep the finish, with the 3m stuff its propper body shop compound, one with a white cap, this is the one to use first and then one with a red cap, this is the finishing compound. Then use a good quality was and it will last reasonably well

Voltage drops to everything engine related except for the starter, its like as if the starter is dropping all other voltage from the bay gearbox etc are all 2L 16v for now
-
I am having a little problem with a mates corrado, he has changed the engine from a 16v to a 20v t the 20vt came with a modded vr6 engine loom, which we fitted in place of the 16v engine loom. thats fine and all fitted the ignition feed from the 16v fuse box to the dta ecu was low voltage so i wired in a relayed supply in place. Now the problem i am getting is that when we crank it over the voltage drops and doesnt allow a spark till the starter is disengaged. However if i wire the starter solinoid to a 12v supply for a moment it will spin and the engine fires up no problem. Based on this i am guessing that the is a resistor that drops the voltage when the starter is engaged, right? i know i could bypass this circuit and put in another solinoid, but i want to use the factory loom if i can. So i am wondering where is my voltage going, ie where is the resistor? Thanks

Did you consider the Wiechers Cage? I have one on order for my corrado and they do black finished or polished. http://www.wiechers-sport.de/ A lot of germans fit these to their cars and they are bolt in too here is a pic of a corrado with one in it, VST who is on this site sometimes can supply them http://www.huber-rennsporttechnik.de/showalbum.php?album=17

i am just curious about the vr6 motors, i was just seeing what options i have for my old golf vr as i have a 24v engine there. Thats all
-
Definatly would improve torque alright is the 24v block the same as a vr6 block then or an R32? I am thinking that it is more likely an R32 block underbored
-
Thanks, i suppose lazyness is not an excuse, or just being really busy at work today  So i take it the R32 has a thicker block than the 24V then?
-
Anyone have info on these? i am looking for specs, ie bore stroke etc also is the inlet manifold from an R32 the same as theat from a 24v? Thanks

Are You Glad They Never Made Another Corrado?
rmn replied to veeDuB_Rado's topic in General Car Chat
i dunno, i like the shape and engine options and love the handeling, but i rekon a remake would kill it Look at cars like the bmw 8 sieres, that came out around the same time as the corrado and lasted a little longer, but i think it will never be replaced. new versions of cars like the corrado are always too soft and sponger, not as involving to drive or own, and they loose something for that. Dont get me wrong i like the mk5 gti and the mk4 too, but they are comfortable almost anonymous, but the corrado like the mk1 and mk2 golf's are a challenge to own as they are far from luxurious in comparisson personal opinion mind you, but we do all modernise our cars, if even just in small ways  -
Re VAG PArts one, its a generic kit that fits everything, one of mym ates fitted it to a mk4 and its great light
