    Corrado ignition

I am replacing a mates steering column in his corrado after some scum bag broke in and tried to nick it, he had the battery out anyway! So he went and got parts from VW, he got a new steering column and a steering lock bracket...i rekon it must have hurt a lot price wise! The thing is it didnt come with an ignition barrel and i was wondering do i need to go to VW for a new one, or can anyone suggest a place to get one? Thanks
  2. Yeah, Steve GSF in Clondalkin do those. do not run the risk of running the engine. it may be a dodgy oil pump in the engine either, so you are better safe than sorry
  3. I think it looks kak when parked with the spolier up. I feel it makes a difference with it not working, i drove my car withthe spolier not working and then with it working at high speed and it felt a lot more planted with it working, in near identical conditions

    16v Tuning guide?

@Flusted, Shrick cams and cat cams are good cams to use. The shrick cams were used in the original BRM cars and pull from about 2k with an increase in performance from the 3.5k mark again. Cat Cams will make you any spec cam you want and they are propper cams used in motorsport. Also there are 3 types of heads to use and later kr heads or abf are supposed to flow best due to bigger in head ports. Also JD engineering do a "Big Valve" ABF head, but it costs  I have an ABF block in my car and i have not had any issues with hitting things, but thats due to the later bonnet and would not fit with an early one. The use of Digifant 3 from the abf cars is also worth consideration, as you can chip this and you should get a nice power increase. Also can someone put up info on the ingnition timing, icant remember it or find it. Overall, a good start, i didnt post in that thread because its best if you look after it and it can be used as a point of referance. Good work though!
  6. I will email him and see is it feasable.
  7. email the lad who runs the scirocco.com he will do you a good deal I can mail him and see what about a group buy?
  8. Not sure how much you can do a big valve head conversion on a vr engine, as the piston is dished and the valves sit flat in the top of the head. As for gas flowing, on a 12v vr6 it makes huge differences as the port design is quite restrictive. Anything that makes you car breather better will improve power and drivability in my opinion. Hope this helps somewhat

    exhausts

depends on the age of the 2 cars in question All VR6's(i think) have the later bar type hangers where as 1991 and earlier corrado's had a hook type design which is totally different.

    G60 intercooler

doh! I suppose the answer to question was in the pic  Thanks I like the idea of a single pass and this seems to be the most feasable way to do it

    G60 intercooler

Does anyone know who makes the jabb sport intercooler for the corrado G60? its £658 for the kit and i know i can get pace or allard to make on for half that but the design they have would suit my application to the ground Or if someone makes intercoolers maybe they could let me know and i will give you the measurements i need made up Thanks http://www.jabbasport.com/product_fulldetail.asp?ProductID=35
  14. Congrats on the car! Its insane! i think leave the black carpet, its a nice contrast from the rest of the car. the stance is one of the best ever!!!! And the engine detail is just unbelivable! Well Done!

    5 to 4 stud???

different cv joints. the vr6's were wide track and the 4 cylinder engined cars were narrow track. you need to get the threaded hub part of a 4 stud pressed into the vr hubs prob with new vr barings and all will work up front. at the rears all you need do is change to a 4 stud disk
  16. Vince is not on the forum's he is based in stealth racing
  17. it may very well just be an air leek in the line from the metering head to the throtle bosy, i would start the car and then carefully apply pressure with your hand to the air line and see if the engine changes rev speed
  18. Thanks Coxy, just trying to gather some info
  19. cool, thanks And are you using the 4 motion central prop or a rallye one?
  20. yip thats it, so what are you doing about drive shafts, are using mk4 or rallye or custom?
  21. so will it be an inch out of line to use a mk4 box if you mount it on the vr mounts?
  22. Hmmm, the mk4 mounts totally differently though doesnt it, it has 2 chassis mounts and a dog bone mount and up front a conventional one. Granted one chassis mount is for the gearbox but that would mean that you have to have 2 chassis mounts made and from my understanding the corrado chassis rails are not really strong enough for this, i may be wrong here though! Withe the fact that your car is LHD(i am assuming this) could you not use the standard 12v downpipe as a template and work from that, in other words line it up beside a 24v downpipe and see the differences anyone got pics of the 2? the 12v will clear all suspension and steering rack, so you can get that copied to get the line and then have the top part of the 24v to match the exhaust manifold from the new engine. If you know anyone with a pipe benders you can make the pipes yourself, even if they are mild steel to start with you can then get them done in heavier material after
  23. It is very retro and quite true to the original! We in Europe just dont have the fuel prices for them  I love in the US the fuel is priced by the galon where here its by the Liter
  24. @mrbeige unfortunatly thats what i thought when i saw it, it is a copy of a supersprint one and they dont make a right hand drive one for that very reason. Best of luck with the refund and if this helps you here is a the reply i got from the guy selling them on ebay back in the beginning of december when i asked him would they fit a right hand drive car!
  25. try VW vortex, and ask there, the US can be a fantastic place to find obscure parts(like coilover seals)
