Our dog would love one of these.... Seriously considering getting one in our new property I think

I gotta look over my shoulder all the time, not to mention trying to park the damn thing - I'm forever adjusting the mirrors! Makes parking quickly a nightmare. Def think it's time to chuck £20 at some new convex mirrors...

Wetsand glass OEM lenses on the outside. Wetsand in one direction, increasing the grade of paper as you go, keep paper nice and wet and take your time! I normally pre-soak paper for at least 5 miuites before sanding and keep paper wet throughout for best results. Clean lenses with strong glass cleaner after sanding, little dab of polish to seal, and then buff to finish. I get alot of people complimenting me on how shiny and brand new my headlights look - You gotta put the time in though!

Dash cams huh? Not a bad idea at all, I'd be game.

Little sheeites. The Police won't be able to anything without proof, and I'm sorry to say the Police won't give a damn about your car either (my uncle was a copper now retired). In this instance you have two choices: Tail them home and go to town on their car with a woody, or accept the fact you've been unjustly punked. Lets hope you do see them again though eh...

Good job. What's wrong with the bonnet release cable?

I don't own a log burner but I do work in construction / maintenance. From what I can tell log burners should send 25% of the heat up the chimney and 75% to the room transfering very little heat to the mortar and brick work in the chimney breast, as opposed to an open fire sending 80% heat straight up the chimney and 20% to the room warming the chimney breast up considerably more than a log burner. A build up of heat further up the chimney breast suggests a blockage to me. Have you had the chimney swept? Probably worth fitting a twin wall stainless steel flu liner as well. Would certainly be a darn sight cheaper than repointing your brick work, assuming of course mortar in the chimney breast has perished or is beggining to perish. A flu liner will sort this / prevent it getting any worse if it has. Ten Ton

Very clean, welcome...

Osram H4 Night Breaker bulbs with an uprated head light loom is just as good if not better IMO. Wetsand your headlight lenses too with 800, 1000, and 1200 grit paper, and a polish to finish - Keeps them looking shiny like wet glass and helps dispurse the light better as well. BTW - Had HID's in mine (were fitted to the car when I bought it) I stripped them out in the end because they only brightened the main beam or dipped, can't remember which one now.

Ridiculous insurance after a claim.. Who to try..
tentonhammer replied to P3rks's topic in Insurance
Why the hell not? You would have to make sure there was no come back though and run a few hundred miles on the clock re-connecting it from time to time. With insurance companies charging whatever they like these days it's no wonder people are forced to do stuff like this. Still, we shouldn't have to... Brilliant. -

I hear you (as I'm sure most of us do), Currently with Admiral. Bizarrely however, I discovered my missus can insure my car for less than me, a good £2000 less even though she doesn't have a license! Admittedly I haven't had my car license long, been driving on and off for over 10 years - grown up on motorbikes but decided enough was enough, I need 4 wheels and roof over my head so got my car license last year. But, because I have 3 points on my license (L plate fell off my bike years ago...) and I was smashed off my Suzuki by a pr*ck doing an unannounced U'ee across 3 lanes of traffic (claimed off of other drivers insurance) my premiums are ridiculously high now. Costs me nearly £3000 a year to keep my valver on the road, as opposed to my missus insuring it costing her £650 a year on a provisional license. What the f*cks that about? At the end of the day - I would have thought knowing how to drive a car safely (with a full UK Drivers License) is safer than not knowing, and an LC20 offence is often overlooked by insurance companies when getting quotes etc anyway (or so I've been told by a number of insurance companies). So why such a high price hike? I wasn't at fault when I claimed on the other guys insurance but some how this is pushing my premiums up as well? The whole thing's a farse, no wonder people drive without insurance these days... Not that I'd ever do it mind. -
Sounds like a dead battery to me.

The looms off of eBay work (or at least mine did in the end...) but yes, you get what you pay for. I bought one for £32.00 on eBay recently as a test loom - more out of curiousity than anything really, although my HL's were in desperate need of brightening! My intentions were to build my own eventually but I needed something as a short term fix in the mean time. All connectors had to be re-crimped, you could pull them off by hand they were that bad. The piggy back connectors into the relays were removed and re-wired with a better connectors to add strength and illiminate the fussyness at the relay. Grounding was rewired / improved. Wire lengths were a tad short in places, more length was added to make it easier to work with and to allow for better and more tidy conceilment. An aluminium enclosure and glands sealed to IP65 to house relays and fuses was added. Plastic sleeve was removed and replaced with flexible and chemical resistant braided nylon type. Even the wiring diagram included was wrong! Loom was on the car for a week before I replaced with my own hand built high end custom. If cheap and cheerful's your thing then go for it. IMO Where your lights are concerned - I'll take quality at a premium any day.

I MAY have to do the whole thing too, although last time I checked the housing lining was pretty clean (housing is black anyway so not noticable!). It's just the sky panel lining that hanging off. Looks like it's been snagged at somepoint too so unable to re-stick cleanly without creases etc. What did you use as an adhesive? Pics would be great :thumbleft: Cheers, Ten Ton
-
Did you have to remove the sky panel at all? Noticed the lining sits slightly within the sunroof housing and surround that's all. I want it to look as clean as I can. Cheers, Ten Ton
-
Sunroof lining is coming away from the main sky panel. Need to either re-stick or re-line entirely. Anyone had a go at this? Sunroof lining on surround panel is ok. Cheers, Ten Ton

Where does your temp gauge needle sit ?
tentonhammer replied to Sideways Steve's topic in Engine Bay
75 at 30mph, and 90 stuck in traffic. This is apparently normal, even though I have an unrelated flashing temp light on my dash... !! Suspected faulty / gunked up sensor in header tank. Note: Temp levels have always been like this even before the flashing temp light. C 16V 2.0 -
Key fob not working after taking battery off??
tentonhammer replied to Johnny H's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Can you actually get in to the car - are you locked out? -
Cheers Pete. Noticed you filled your doors with Dynamat - Was it worth the money?
-
Nope, can't find it??
-
That'll do it alright. Happy days :thumbleft:

Save it for the race track (or quiet road at 5:00 in the morning on your way into work...) ;)

Thought about doing this myself - What setup are you running? Ten Ton
