  1. Top man Paul and top car, I'll be buying the mag.
  2. Wrong side of the half century! 72 Granada V6 (when fuel was incredibly cheap) 73 Mk1 Escort Mexico - Monza Blue 83 Mk3 Escort XR3i - Silver 86 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v - Silver 91 Mk2 Gollf GTi 16v - Black Metallic 94 Mk3 Golf VR6 - Tornado Red 90 Mk2 Golf GTi 16v - Atlas Grey 96 Corrado VR6 - Blackberry 04 Seat Leon Cupra TDi - Pearl Grey 05 Golf 2.0 TDi - Shadow Blue (Current with Corrado) Corrado undoubtedly the best I,ve owned for sheer driving pleasure although I am extremely happy with the current golf as a daily driver.
  3. I thought that if it's more than 15 days the company have to report it as a benefit in kind on the annual P11D to the taxman. A few people at my company with cars in the revenue approved scheme have incurred an additional tax liability when there vehicle has been off the road for more than 15 days and a replacement has been provided for there use.
  4. Bear in mind though that if you take an allowance to pay for a car on a monthly basis the car is yours at some point and you have to factor in it's residual value as if you then trade in there is equity to begin with to purchase your next car. As everyone says it depends on mileage, what band of tax you pay, fuel or mileage allowance etc.
  5. Must admit I do like the 2 you've chosen, I think it would be the Saab for me though as they are just so luxurious and have class, and I don't think I'd have the confidence to think the Alfa would be reliable enough. Nice choice to have to make though.
  6. Wot Sam!, your deserting VW - what's wrong with a nice MK5 Golf 2.0 tdi with remap and a few luxuries?
  7. If I have to look after my dad in the same situation as you have, I'll be proud, as you should be to have made his final time so happy. Sorry for your loss.
  8. Corrado for weekend fun only, now downgraded to summer weekend fun - SORN'd it from 1st October. Daily driver is a Mk5 Golf 2.0 tdi with Van AAken tuning box ( best torque figure @ CF forum Stealth RR day earlier this year (don't want to start the petrol v diesel dabate again), heated leather, cruise, phat noise, sat nav.
  9. "but bbs splits were an option on the rado.. just means oem+ would dominate " Nothing wrong with OEM+ BB - Just ask OSV!
  10. I dont like sebrings. :(Speedlines aren't my fave wheel but I could live with them if I had to.
  11. Putting a corrado back to standard means standard but you still have a great car. The bonus is the wipeout of all the badly modded cars you see everywhere.
  12. Hate to give advice after you've sweated blood to get the locking bolts off, but just in case it happens again to you or anyone else - try hammering a slightly undersize socket onto it or buy a gator grip which is a socket with pins inside which extend and or retract to fit a nut of any size. HTH
  13. Hi, Advised you to post this to canvas opinion, Cobra and Meta seem to be reliable - not heard any complaints about them. But somebody else might know otherwise.
  14. Just had a new Cat 1 fitted by Andy Bryant of http://www.trimwizard.co.uk. Andy used to own a Corrado and was a CCGB member. He knows the cars inside out and treats your car like it's his own. Also does minor trim and paint repairs. Highly recommended.
  15. Mine was a daily driver when I first got 7 years ago it but for the last 5 years it' been purely a fun second car. Got it on an agreed all mods declared policy with a 1500 mile annual limit and I plan to keep it indefinitely. I know some will frown because it's not driven so much mostly due to lack of time but in a strange way it's all the more enjoyable when I do drive it.
  16. "One comment of the men though - why are so many so aggressive and yes some of the women too. I think there are better places to get rid of that pent up aggressive - the gym for instance". Doesn't make me agressive seeing women work out in the gym Wendy Lol!
  17. No excuse whatsover for parking in disabled spaces but if you think about the mother and child jobbies it means there are a large number of 4x4 or people carriers in them that could potentially be parked next to your 'C' in the car park with mums, dads and kids opening the rear doors with dangerous pointy bits resulting in some fine thumbnail dents in your pride and joy. I think these allocated spaces inadvertently provide us 'C' owners with a bit of extra protection from damage myself.
  18. In a similar position to you. Had my 'C' for seven years initially as a daily driver then got a company car - Leon Cupra TDI which as a tool for the daily commute or business trips was great. The Leon's been replaced now with a Golf 2.0TDI which is chipped and great fun to drive. It means I now get less chance to drive the 'C' (only did 1500 miles last year) but I wouldn't dream of getting rid as I can't wait for the opportunity to drive it, because as you already know it doesn't compare in terms of the fun factor. Think very seriously before you decide about the value compared to what you've got and what you could get, and if you're like me the decision begins to become a no-brainer. The choice is yours.
  19. Not so sure about the GTI badging but looks phat and deserves a big creamy V6 lump at least 3.2.
  20. Some shots of Blackberry (aka Bramble)
  21. Jeroen Dik's C at Inters about 4-5 years ago with the rear of the bonnet extended covering the wipers - sorry no pic but I'm sure some of you will remember. Also Trigger I agree on Asim's lights but have shamelessly copied that mod and so haven't got the cheek to say it's best.
  22. Dave, I was in a similar position to you about 5 years ago and I was seeing barely double figures for mpg on the mfa whilst travelling 3 miles in a traffic queue. It actually saved me money by buying a cheap reliable car (Mk1 Polo for £400) and taxing and insuring it.
  23. Pretty good going Lee but I'm thinking your car is now in better nick than when it left the factory Lol!
  24. Had mine 7 years now and had it MOT'd 2 weeks ago and it passed for the 8th consecutive time with no faults (could be an interesting thread). Also worth noting is that other than serviceable items and upgrades the only thing that has had to be replaced due to a fault/not working is the rear brake bias valve which was weeping fluid (touch wood he says - I don't want to tempt fate). I'd be interested in how other long term owners have fared over time of ownership in terms of repairs needed.
  25. Yeah Dinkus, I might pm you a how to access the e-group Lol!
