  1. Sorry Yandards, "I would refer the individual concerned to the KB and the quality of the articles in there. (not trying to be bitchy but sweeping generalisations like that do no-one any favours)" Having used the E-Group for longer than this forum has existed I think if you searched it you would find everything that's in the KB and a lot more besides and I think I know where I read it first (and it wasn't the Sun Lol!).
  2. Just do a search on yahoo groups but then you'll need to set up an account - pretty straightforward.
  3. Appears to be none publicly in the form of a stunning silence from both camps apart from Mike Edwards (CCGB Joint Chairman) who has just posted on the Yahoo E-Group that he will inform everyone when a venue and date has been arranged for the CCGB AGM. Nothing will ever happen without communication, and all the optimism and good ideas expressed on this thread will amount to nothing without it (not meaning to sound profound), but just my view.
  4. I can't see why a postal vote couldn't be undertaken for those who couldn't attend and with such an important decision I would expect that to happen.
  5. Just read Charley's post (hello Charley) and we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet. We are asking if this merger is a possibility or not as it can then be tabled at the CCGB AGM and the membership will decide. The problem here is that from a CCGB point of view the decision lies with a large number of people but ultimately with one person in the CF(correct me if I'm wrong there and no offence intended). I am prepared to table the item but I need a positive or encouraging response from a decision maker in order to do that. I'm not prepared to table it only then to be told that from a CF point of view that it's a non-starter. So please post or PM me with your thoughts and whatever you decide there's no hard feelings but I really do believe this could work for eveyone's mutual benefit as do other respected CF and CCGB members. Forget who's heading CCGB, forget about egos, forget about what's happened in the past, move on and let the membership of CCGB make the decision for the club. If that decision is not favourable then those who made it have to bear the consequences. Bill CCGB#1286
  6. Joint Chairpersons are Jamie Hooper and Mike Edwards
  7. I'm seeing lots of good positive ideas and as I said the other day it needs the necessary people to get together on this and see if it's viable. Any chance on some response (PM if you don't want to go public) as I'm sure the individuals required are watching this thread with interest. Bill CCGB#1286
  8. Having witnessed the joint attendance at events of both CCGB and Forum members I have to say that you really wouldn't know who belonged to which one. I think I speak for everyone in that no one asks whether you are a CCGB or forum member because it really isn't that important The problem doesn't seem to be with these committed individuals but with pre-conceived ideas, rumour, misguided uninformed opinion and hearsay. I for one would still support the club with a membership in single figures as the club for me is the people involved and not what I get for my money. VR6 has some really good ideas and I think if the right people got round the table both groups could have what they want and co-exist. I suggest we throw an open invite to the CCGB AGM and provide the solution that will satisfy everyone (well almost - there's always one isn't there Lol!). If we're really serious about walking the talk then let's get down to business. Bill CCGB#1286
  9. No mention of Seat Leon Cupra. Either in PD150 diesel form (which I have with a tuning box fitted) and it can make the clutch slip - torque is fantastic and makes my VR (RR @ 209 bhp feel pedestrian in the mid range) and still does 50mpg+. Then we have a choice of 180bhp cupra or 180 and 225 cupra 'R' which you'd feel at home in as it has the same dash as the S3 and is easily tuneable and IMO is a good looking car. I rest my case.
  10. Just some advice. I would be careful who replaces the screen as with a genuine one there are spacers supplied to position the new screen correctly and some of the efforts I've seen have been pretty poor from some companies (even large nationals). Search for recommendations, use VAG bodyshop or post requesting good feedback from companies in your area - you know it makes sense!
  11. Supercharged, check out the link I attached it includes fitting instructions. Very easy to fit - live wire to spare terminal on reversing light cluster and earth anywhere nearby then site the speaker wherever convenient. As you can see the sensors are fixed to each end of the number plate surround. Good luck, Bill
  12. Just fitted the Meta SR52 Targa kit that is built into a number plate holder to my wife's beetle. Picked it up off e-bay for £65, really easy to fit and very effective. You can adjust the sensitivity to get it just as you want it and it's pretty unobtrusive on the car. Check out this link. http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms ... ensors.htm
  13. My alarm bells are ringing Dinkus - rear seam problem normally means rear ended so be sure to check for original stickers although they can be removed prior to repair then stuck back on afterwards - seen it done!
  14. Now I'm doing it Lol - sorry meant '95'
  15. Spot the deliberate mistake in the ad?. It says registered 17/8/96, I suspect it should be '96 as it's an 'N' plate. Looks tidy but overpriced. Good luck
  16. Hi Again Guys, It seems now that everyone's had the chance to re-evaluate their comments and we've returned to sensible mode. As for Andi's suggestion I have to say it's a good one and my request still stands for him to attend the AGM and put this forward. At the end of the day if the member's want it then they'll vote for it and it will be carried even if the committee are not in favour. Let's just forget about what's gone before - get over it and take the club forward. Bill CCGB#1286
  17. Hi Guys, I don't generally post on the forum but keep up to date with things. I have watched this thread develop or should that be deteriorate into a complete lack of respect for CCGB, it's committee and members. I agree with everything Alex says and with a number of others who have attempted to defend the club with dignity. If you really want a merger between CCGB and CF you are going about it in the wrong way completely and judging by Andi's crass comments I doubt whether he wants that. As for what you got for your £15 last year I attended events at Stonor, Santa Pod, Bentwaters and E38 with the club where all members were welcome, and although we were lacking in Sprinters there were interim newsletters. Yes the club has had problems but I remain optimistic about it's future providing there are genuine enthusiasts who wish to get involved rather than hide behind an ID in a forum. So let's give you a challenge Andi to turn up at the AGM instead of washing your hair and be positive about moving forward. Bill '96 VR6 CCGB#1286
  18. Hi Neil, Bill Aitken here. Happened to speak to Asim tonight and he told me about this post. All I can say is that your problem is the ride/handling quality on the 17's so I guess you have to compromise somewhere, and that for me was to fit 16's as the handling is what owning a corrado is about for me. Iit has to look good (and I agree it does look better on 17's) but given the choice (and I'm quite happy with the way mine looks) I'm very happy with the way it rides and handles with a 60mm drop at the rear and 45mm at the front on H&R coilovers which is the same as Asim. There's an old saying which is "17's for show and 16's for go and I tend too agree as you can guess but it's all down to opinion and as you'veI said earlier your car seemed much better on 15's. As they say " You pays your money ................". Good luck in your quest. Bill
