    Hello

That car was always really tidy and well maintained - wouldn't have thought there's to much wrong knowing Andy.

    Hello

Welcome and just wondered if you bought the car from a guy called Andy who lives in the St. Albans area?
  3. The first thing you should consider when doing any work is safety i.e. if your gonna get under the car always and I mean always use axle stands. you know it makes sense and good luck it's maybe a bit daunting at first but there's loads you can do with basic tools and a bit of common sense.
  4. Just been checking out http://www.vagparts.com and they are listing LHD & RHD factory guage pods if anyone's interested.
  5. We'll convince all the non-believers one day.
  6. Yeh, that would really be something, the balance between VR and diesel would really be starting to lean over.
  7. If I could re-create the shove in the back that I get from my MK5 2.0 Tdi 140 bhp in my VR without spending shed loads of money I'd be a very happy man. Got the same shove from my Leon Cupra 150bhp Tdi when I had one. Admittedly both fitted with tuning boxes but I'd highly recommend them to anyone and the newer 140 engine is a lot less agricultural than the old 150 plus the chassis on the MK5 is a huge improvement over the MK4. I speak from the driving experience of these 2 cars over a few years and not a brief test drive before dissing the diesels - try one long term and you'll be hooked. I would hate to have to make a choice between the Tdi and the VR and fortunately I don't have to as there are so many pro's for both and not many cons.
  8. Interesting.. So how does one get an agreed payout. I belive I will be going for this policy? Who are ya both with? I'm with Chris Knott on their future classic policy and via them the agreed value is underwritten by Lancaster Insurance.
  9. That's why I've got one with all mods declared and pictures supplied Steve.
  10. Interestingly when production stopped and dealer stock was gone VR6's were fetching more secondhand than the new price for a while. The guy I bought mine from bought the car when it was a year old and paid more than the new price but that could have been because the dealer who sold it to him had it retrimmed with leather.
  11. 60mm rear 45mm front on coilies and 16" wheels- slight rubbing on the front inner arch though- could maybe do with 40mm on the front.
  12. Looks amazing 3corsameal - you must be well chuffed with that.
  13. Likewise, love to see some pics as the quality of his work on other cars is brilliant.
  14. Great bit of gear - really worth doing.
  15. Cosmetics seem to be winning so far - fortunately no one's applied lippy or eyeliner yet though Lol!
  16. Have you bought your Corrado a Xmas present?. I've treated mine to a trickle charger as it's Sorn'd for winter. There must be some more exciting items that have been bought. Let us know what they are unless you plan to surprise us at one of next year's shows.
  17. Don't think the rubber should have sealant. It should come off pretty easily.
  18. When you say around the windscreen do you mean at the edge of the rubber trim?. If so I would suggest you remove it and check for rust underneath as if there is rust and you only treat what you can see it will only come back. I've always used Kurust or Loctite Rust Remedy and found them to be effective. If the rust is quite heavy use a smal screwdriver (very carefully) to remove the top layers and try to get a bit closer to the bare metal underneath before applying the rust treatment. Good luck!
  19. Try the gold bolts first with the wheels as they are and take it from there if you think you can improve on that Gareth. Personally I think from standard to any combination you've suggested will look great. It's all down to personal choice in the end. Didn't win that set on e-bay btw.
  20. Thanks, Bill - any excuse to show yours off, eh? They're spectacular- who did the re-trim? Yeh, couldn't resist, yours would look fantastic in cream - MJ did mine.
  21. VR6, Recaros, you couldn't ask for better - nice car.
  22. Nice One, you,ve bought a real piece of Corrado history there!
  23. Do you need something with a huge amount of boot space Phil. If not then why not a fully loaded Golf 2.0 TDI. Leather, Cruise, Sat-Nav, Grand Prix alloys etc. Here's a pic of mine, very enjoyable place to spend 30k a year in.

    bonnet prop

With a stainless steel one made to replicate the shape of the original exactly, but there were only 10 of these made so you'd be hard pushed to find one.
