  1. Hope you enjoyed your trip to sunny  south Wales to pick it up!!!
  2. Well I woulnd't recommend the CTR. I had one new in 2003 and hated it, sold after 7 months. The power band was silly and I felt stupide having to rev it so much just to keep up with traffic. Mate recently sold his Cup-R and it was a really nice car, though I can't say it really had much in the was of charisma. To be honest though if your looking for a hot hatch I'd probably keep the VR as nothing else will be quite the same!!! I like the 330Ci but never had one. I have had an E36 M3 Evo [thats what I moved from the VR to] and an E46 M3 and both to be honest were fantastic cars, if a little expensive to insure and service etc. Depending on how old you are willing to go and what kind of thing your after I'd look at maybe one of the following... Audi S4 2.7TT Alfa 156 3.2 Jaguar XK8 Boxster S1 Elise Lotus Elan Turbo S2000 Mazda RX7 Food for thought?
  3. Me too. I've recently got myself a supercharged Jaguar with an Eaton unit. Had a turbocharged Focus ST in 2006 but the supercharged power delivery is so much more progressive and much more predictable - though I'm sure the larger engine size helps too.
  4. Your right they are - that one has had an engine transplant or something and the mileage is not correct. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=75403
  5. My mate just picked up decent a 3.2S for less thas 8k. Only thing that put me off is the soft top. Never been a soft top fan. Thats not much of a problem with the S, its got a triple skin roof. Double skin on the others. Both cars were snug and quiet on the motorway and never leaked. Had a hardtop on the blacdk one but rarely used it to be honest.
  6. Thanks!!! 8) Of all the cars I've had none has put a smile on my face like my old VR6 did, it was that feeling of "cheap speed" and value, not to mention that its drives superbly and its timelessly pretty. Happy to keep my Jag for the daily drive and get a VR for weekends and shows etc... :D
  7. Know what you mean, early 2.5 cars are under 8k. Never driven a 2.5 or 2.7 car though so don't know what they are like. Mine were both 3.2S cars with the 6 speed box and 996 brakes etc. The 1st, the green one, was superb. It wasn't the fastest car and after the M3 evo it was a fair bit slower, but the handling and feel is simply amazing. The 2nd one had a 5k engine conversion and it was much more serious. It had well over 300bhp and seriously went like stink, but it had several niggly issues which Porsche could never really sort out properly for me. To be honest after the 1st S I said I wanted a 911, but after the 2nd I'm less bothered. The Boxster is definitely the more agile car and the 911 cabrio just looks wrong to me. I'd buy another one, but not one which has been modded, and I'd buy a cheap one too because the rate that they lose money is frightening...
  8. I agree. I used a GPS device on my old Civic Type-R which according to the mags and brochure did 60 in well under 7 seconds yet I couldn't match it no matter how I tried. I was barely getting 7.3-7.4s. Perhaps the car could do it, but not in my incapable hands...
  9. Haha! Its like that barryboys site! Only kiddin some of them I quite like (not a big fan of tiger stripes though I must admit).
  10. Heres mine in order from 2001 and left out the 1.2 Fiesta, 1.2 Polo and 1.6 Civic for obvious reasons... Rover BRM Civic Type-R (don't laugh its the only pic I have of it) Corrado VR6 :luvlove:  E36 M3 Evo Boxster S E46 M3 Focus ST-3 TechArt engined Boxster S Jaguar S-Type R :notworthy: Makes me realise how out of date my signature is!!!!!!!!
  11. Haha so do I! I used them years afo when they were a Jag/Rover dealership and felt the same. The intent was noble but they rarely satisfied me for fixing faults. Hoping this time around it will be a case of less faults fixed more efficiently... I did pop in to ask them a question because I was being thick with the nav and they were really pleasent and fine - BMW would have wanted a deposit for the 15 mins of the mechanics time!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Oh dear - hope thats a joke... ;) Got it from Stratstone Aston/Jaguar in Birmingham. My local dealer is also a Stratstone, in Swansea. Any discounts on service when it's due??? hehe
  13. Its lovely at night, I've also got a new Polo in the family and I find the blue lights are nice as a gimmick but they are a little bit straining over a long motorway journey. Green and amber are easier on the eyes at my age haha!
  14. Took a few pics of the TV etc the other night, great way to while away the traffic jams 8) Picture quality is rubbish though, done with my phone so it all looks like the contrast is too high and all fuzzy.
  15. So your the guy who bought it. I was talking to the seller for a while over this one but we struggled on the price so I walked away. Good car though!
  16. The do some I think, but use manufacturers figures for others as they can't test all of them. In the knowledge section at the back the ones tested are on bold print.
  17. Hiya, How much do you want for it?
  18. 34 - Mr and Mrs Smith 39 - Layer Cake? (looks like the car but not the right country)
  19. Haha. Sell me your Blackberry!!!!!!!!! And I'm not talking about your mobile phone either
  20. Ex VR6 lad from Swansea here - looking for another maybe to use as a weekender...
  21. I've got a few missing and a couple I'm not sure about... 1 Duel 2 Vanishing point/Deathproof 3 4 Last Boy Scout 5 Kalifornia 6 Deathproof 7 Pretty woman 8 Back to the Future 9 Ronin 10 The Rock 11Ferris Bueller 12 Pulp Fiction 13 Training Day 14 The Matrix 15 The Italian Job 16 Bad Boys 17 Waynes World 18 Bourne Identity 19 Thelma and Louise 20 Clockwise 21 Snatch 22 23 Legally Blonde 24 25 Days of Thunder/Talladega nights??? 26 Blues Brothers 27 Top Gun/48 hours 28 Bad Boys 2 29 30 Knight Rider
  22. Yes, 4.2 supercharged V8. 400bhp and 408lb/ft. Off the line its reasonably quick but once its rolling from 20mph or so the accelleration is insane. Plus it really brakes and corners well for its size. Got it from Jag dear too so I get a 1 year Jag warranty which is nice. Has fully electric seats inc headrests, Alpine premium sound pack (like the Bose/Porsche or Dynadio/VW options) and a TV!!! Much less 'obvious' than say an M5 I think.
  23. Part ex-d my 6 year old Civic + 5k for it. New receipt was over 60k with all the options!
  24. It's a big of a barge but its sooooo fast it beggars belief! Its a bit like the old VR6 for the balance of comfort and sport, but on a much more extreme scale...
