  1. That's about the right budget for a really good straight reliable well maintained VR6. My advice to you is to not get tempted by one that looks all "nice and shiny" on the surface, as they're usually riddled with expensive faults underneath.
  2. There's still quiet a few mint Corrado's out there which are in stock unmessed with condition.
  3. I also have the complete braking system, front and rear. Still on the car and passed MOT in April 2014 so in good working condition. Based in Brum.
  4. Looks like a nice clean G60 with good potential. I'm wondering if the price is an error as it seems very cheap.
  5. Still available here before I stick them on ebay.
  6. Engine still available. Open to offers.
  7. dickie, be careful what price you sell them for as there is a £200 price difference depending if they are ground from a blank or reprofiled. These cams ground from a blank retail for around £440 and if they are reprofiled you're looking at around £240.
  8. Absolutely correct. Many a 9A has got running problems due to things being adjusted that should be left alone, unless the person knows what they are doing.
  9. I'm a tolerant guy, but I would give individuals like this life in prison.
  10. They are Piper Magnum cams (now just called Piper). I've used Piper Magnum cams in other applications and they have always been excellent.
  11. This car will always be known as "JIM'S OLD 16 VALVER!" Nothing has happened to it, infact, it keeps passing it's MOT and has 10 months MOT on it!! Problem is I can't really afford to have two Corrado's in use and I want to start to enjoy using my VR6. Original plan was to convert it into a track day car, but I just don't have the time. So unfortunately I'm breaking it up. Most of the parts I'll be keeping for my VR6 and the rest I'll sell on the forum. Yes engine is good and I knew Jim (& you) had done a fair bit of work on it. Have a couple of mk2 Golfers interested in the engine so hopefully it will be gone soon. If not I'll just store the engine away for a future project. Definitely will not be going to scrap yard, no way. It's too good for that and I would genuinely like to see the engine go to a good home!
  12. Race engines are designed to make full use of high octane fuels. Ordinary road going cars which are designed to run on a specific octane of fuel will give no noticeable effect. If you ran a standard VR6 on Asda fuel and then one "performance" fuel like Shell or BP's, you'd see maybe 3 or 4 bhp difference on a dyno. On the road, you would not notice a 3 or 4 bhp difference, not unless you have the senses and feel that Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost had/have. And lets be honest, most of the Corrado's out there are losing 10 to 15 bhp just by being poorly maintained and in a bad state of tune.
  13. 2.0 16v 9a Engine with KR cams 2.0 16V 9A Engine with KR Cams The engine is still in the car and can be heard running. It starts first time and doesn't burn any oil. Whilst I have had it all that I have had to do is change the headgasket and give it an annual service (oil, filter, plugs, etc) I know the previous owner had the head overhauled with many new parts, all genuine VAG. It runs perfectly and pulls strongly and smoothy. The bottom end is fine and the bores showed no wear ridges at all It has passed the emissions at all the previous MOT's the last one being on 17/04/2014, so its still actually MOT'ed. I did a very quick compression test this afternoon and the readings are; 1 - 210psi 2 - 200psi 3 - 225psi 4 - 205psi Mileage (genuine) is 203061. The sale is for the engine ONLY. If all the ancillaries are wanted (complete fuel injection, ignition system and ECU, starter motor, alternator, powersteering pump, etc) then I am open to offers. Collection from Birmingham. 14. Autocavan...yes I remember them. I had one of their modified brake linkages on my Scirocco GTX to improve the appalling brake pedal feel. Still miss that car, even with its crap brakes!
  15. In the old days (good and better old days as far as I'm concerned!) the majority of fuel tanks were mounted externally and were made of steel. So they used to rust on the outside and rust on the inside. So dirt (rust) clogging up the fuel lines, filters and carb jets could be a problem. With the Corrado having a plastic fuel tank, it's not and never has been an issue. You'll get ordinary "dirt" particles in there, but not of a size that will cause any issues. As for "performance" fuels, you'll not notice the difference on a standard car, so imho it's a complete myth generated by clever marketing people to get your cash.
  16. There's a couple of points that have been raised here and on "another" thread so I'll answer them. 1/ Before they became obsolete the dealers were selling them at around £90 each side, excluding VAT. So having an initial asking price of £250 is not unreasonable for an original new part which is now obsolete. 2/ ARZ are selling the left hand one for 79.75 EUR ex shipping costs. I don't know if they are genuine VAG or not. They don't have any right hand ones. Nor as far as I know does anyone else. They are obsolete. 3/ The roof trims have been discussed on other threads. I approached a couple of companies to try and make them. As they are a 4 piece construction none of the companies could come up with anything that came close at a reasonable cost. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=82715 http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=82349 4/ The reason I prefer parts I sell to be collected is because I can only accept payment in cash, cheque or postal order as I do not have paypal. I have also gone out of my way to pack and weigh items only for the buyer to then not go ahead with the sale as the postage cost is too high. 5/ If someone on this forum had pm'ed me to ask if I would accept less, or if I would post them, then I would have said yes. Which is exactly what I have done with other stuff I have advertised on here. 6/ I have no issue with people on this forum commenting on sale threads if someone is selling a defective part, wrong part, incorrectly described part, etc. I do have an issue with people who start criticising the advertised selling price. It's happened a few times on here lately on other peoples advertisements. 7/ Someone sold a set on ebay for over £400. What something is worth is the price someone is willing to pay. So again, having an asking price of £250 is not unreasonable. 8/ These Roof Trims are now sold as I also had them advertised on another site.
  17. Corrado Roof Trims Pair of brand new Corrado Roof Trims. Genuine VW and still in unopened packaging. Will not split so the sale is for the pair. Would rather not post to avoid damaging them, so collection preferred. 250 collected from West Mids. 18. I stuck a brand new K&N induction kit on my VR6 a few years ago to give it a try. Made too much induction noise and did absolutely zilch to increase performance, so I took it off and sold it. Now running a standard airbox with an annually changed OE paper filter. Result is excellent filtration and a nice sounding VR6 which is no slower than one running a loud induction kit!
  19. West Mids. I've dropped you a pm.

Like some others have said I don't think a "correctly maintained and functioning" modern fuel injected car will have levels of carbon build up that will cause a noticeable drop off in performance. Carbon build up has always been a characteristic of carburettor fueled cars and not really an issue with correctly functioning fuel injected cars. So in my opinion, for a "modern" fuel injected car, the best thing to do is maintain your car correctly to maintain its performance. I don't believe that a cleaning agent, under pressure or not, will remove carbon deposits in the same way as a thorough strip and decoke does. So if you have got large amounts of carbon build up, strip the engine to remove it and fix the problem that's causing it. That's what I would do, but then again, I'm old school.
  22. Previously (for the last 12 years) I've used Mobil 1 Motorsport 15w/50, but this is now getting hard to get hold of. So now I mix in a 50/50 ratio, Mobil 1 New Life 0w/40 and Mobil 1 Extended Life 10w/60. Giving an overall fully synthetic viscosity of 5w/50. IMHO this is an ideal oil/viscosity for a VR6.
  23. The clutch slave cylinder is pretty cheap and readily available so I would buy a new one. The clutch master cylinder could be a problem as the early ones are obsolete, but you can still buy new later ones. So it depends on which one you have fitted to your car.
