My OE VAG/Scorpion alarm LED is there too.
-
The previous owner of my C paid £253.88 to have the alloys re-furbed (& re-balanced) in Oct 2001 - but it was money well spent cos they still look pristine :D (I've got all receipts for all work done on the car in a specially made service history folder! This guy was obsessive!)
-
Can someone confirm if the ET is the same for Golf/Corrado?
-
It's an OBD2 style connector but the motronic ecu and ABS ecu don't talk OBD2  No factory standard Corrado is OBD2 compliant  As I found out after buying a generic OBD2 cable & s/w   Corrados actually talk OBD1 and some VW specific protocol (called KWP-1281)

The official VAG Corrado Storm VR6 brochure from 1995 goes on about the rear-wheel steering affect as a "Passive Safety" feature. Specifically it says in the spec sheets: "Rear Axle: Torsion beam trailing arm with track-correcting bearings and anti roll bar. Plus Axle" So it's definitely a 'Plus' Axle but is the steering effect supposed to be in the bearings????
-
yeah I know - at $199 plus import duty/VAT. I was hoping someone may have either a source of cables in the UK, or someone selling a copy of VAG-COM.....
-
I've been looking at buying the $199 VAG-COM for my VR6 for a while now, but being a cheapskate  , I bought a generic OBDII scantool from http://www.scantool.net for $40ish. But that turned out to be a waste of cash as the Motronic ECU is not OBDII compatible. :( :( :( Can anybody recommend either: A cheap/reliable ISO9141 (the car's diag socket) to RS232 converter - so that I can just reg. the VAG-COM software, or a cheap source of cable and/or software??? Anyone selling either???
-
D'OH!  All the plastic dials are not the same! The fan speed selector knob has an extra cut out for the little copper arm! Swapped them to the right way round and now all's OK!
-
Bugger! Now the fan only works on speed setting 4 :( :( It will try and go if you wiggle the speed selector dial, think I'll have to have it all to bits again....
-
Thanks for that, got the bulb changed OK thanks. Got the trim off too, but the stooopid dashmount won't fit :( :( After checking the part nos they've sent me one for a Seat Cordoba/Ibiza/Toledo and there aren't any Corrado parts left in stock with no plans to make any more
-
can anyone fill me in on how to remove the trim round the later (rotary) style heater controls? I need to replace the illumination bulb, and fit a dashmount bracket to mount my iPod 8) Thanks,

Any chance of any pics of leather gaitors in situ??? :D

Only seen 2 other C's round here since I bought mine in Feb - a red G reg 16V in Southport and another aqua blue in Liverpool (didn't catch the reg or model as it was blasting across a set of lights about 2 cars in front of me as the lights changed to red  :D ) Spotted a nice looking std N reg mystic blue storm in Hawkshead yesterday though - with a roof rack & a canoe!!! Chris.

Traction Control - not working or just not fitted?
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in Drivetrain
Just reading a Top Gear magazine review of C VR6 vs. Fiat Coupe vs. Nissan 200 vs. Honda Prelude from August 1995 on the VW CCGB website where they note: "The Corrado does have traction control but it doesn’t work that well. Gun the VW hard and you’ll have wheelspin aplenty in first and second gears with the front of the car squirming around the road." Guess it's a lot too subtle then.... -
You know what caused that "lucky streak" ..... :?: :?: :?: Do you beleive in tempting fate.... :)

Ahhh - didn't know about the half throttle bit... Need to find an ice rink to do some testing..... :D :D :D -
Traction Control - not working or just not fitted?

Browsing the ETKA parts catalogue gives different part numbers (obviouisly!) for the different ABS ECUs - where's the ABS brain located? Does anyone know if the part number is visible without ripping the thing out??? Can you tell by looking at the ABS block whether the extra traction control bits are fitted or is the only difference in the ECU? -
Something I've been meaning to get to the bottom of ever since I bought my C: Was the simple Traction Control System (TCS or EDL or whatever VW called it) fitted as standard on late ('95 Model year) VR6's?? Mine's definitely not working (smoke those tyres!!! :D  ) - but I don't know if it's just not there, or fitted and not working :? Can anyone shed any light...

and the Corrado's VR6 has wider throttle body too = more bhp

"Dim Dip" was fitted to all UK spec. cars manufactered after '89 ish and was a supposed safety feature whereby it was impossible to drive the car on sidelights alone - i.e. if the headlight switch was at position 1, sidelights, then as soon as you turned on the ignition, the dipped beam bulbs were supplied via the ballast resisitor to cause them to glow at some reduced brightness level - hence the term "dim dip". Never quite understood though if it really was a safety issue, then why not just light the dipped bulbs fully? Why ponce around with the dim bit???? Chris.
-
Further to that, I've found some links to scans of a Revs review which compares the VR6 Corrado to the VTEC 'Lude and Calibra amongst others (the VR6 comes out on top :D :D :D ) Get yer magnifying glasses ready though... http://www.autopia.org/gallery/data/500 ... vtec-1.jpg http://www.autopia.org/gallery/data/500 ... vtec-2.jpg http://www.bluecell.plus.com/philscar2/LudeVTEC-3.jpg Chris.
-
Definitely the VR6 or the Prelude - don't go near the other two  VR6 - if you like bags of smooth torque VTEC - if you like revving the nuts off up to the redline! Chris.
-
I've got all the bits ready to do this mod (but haven't got round to it yet !) - but reading about it here has jogged my memory over something else! My car, a '96 N reg, doesn't seem to have dim dip! The only other thing on the car that doesn't work is the glove box light (bulb is OK) - do they share a fuse by any chance? Assuming that the dim dip relay etc. hasn't already been removed. I'll go & have a look for the resistor later... ... later... big boy resistor is there inside the nearside wing, near the battery. But the Corrado handbook fuse list doesn't mention dim dip, and the Bentley manual doesn't either (not surprising really as Dim Dip's a UK only thing!). Can anyone shed any light (pun intended!) on which fuse & relay work the dim dip??? thanks, Chris.

Don't think you can check the mileage without the MFA from the car (if it had one!) - i.e. ecu doesn't record it. Unless you can get the Engine no./VIN/reg of the Denmark car and see if they have an hpicheck equivalent over there??? :?: :?: :?: Chris.
-
Robch, I've got the official VW Corrado Storm sales brochure, would you like a scan of the spec pages, so you know excatly what to look for... :?: Chris.
