REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
stormseeker replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
You'll need some serious mods to get those wheels in the background under the arches  -
aaah - part of the legendary sloppy corrado cable operated gear-change experience!
-
I've got a manual though..... ????
-
I think he's modified the indicator & fog lenses himself... maybe just replaced the glass???
-
I've seen plenty of locks knackered by dim-wits hammering a screwdriver in where the key should go and then turning the whole lock assembly to try and force it.
-
just idly reading back through some of the previous owner's service history for my C (must remember to get a life... :? ) and saw that it has had its "Bowden Cable" replaced (part description on main dealer receipt). Never heard of one of those before, and the part number's not found in ETKA. More precidesly, 2 of them, part nos. 535 881 596A at £11.29 each. Any ideas on what/where/who/why a Bowden cable is? Handbrake cables maybe?

How about some A4 lights? (not angeleyes, but very nice...)
-
Did it just suddenly stop working or have you recently had all the knobs off (oooooer!) If they've all been off, just check that the right one's on the fan speed control cos they're not all the same. Take all 3 off and look at them from behind, you'll see one is different to the other two - that's the fan speed control knob with an extra cutout for the little copper arm part of the switch mechanism.

I thought the Corrado door was "re-inforced" internally? (Haven't got round to putting the Passat handles on yet, so haven't looked). Do these armour plates fit inside or out? Surely if inside then they're no more deterrent as the scumbag can't see them and has a go anyway. The benefit of removing the lock is that is stops somone having a go at forcing it with a big screwdriver. Remove the door pins from the inside too and there's no way to unlock the door without the alarm activating the central (un)locking. Mr Scumbag might think twice if he can't see 1. external lock and 2. internal door pin.....

Standard alarm and remote closure/central locking.
stormseeker replied to Joe M's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
If using the key in the door doesn't activate the central locking then I doubt it's a problem with the alarm - sounds like the central locking itself is knackered. -
For those that are interested, the Part nos. for the passat rear handles & catch mechs are: Drivers Handle 357 839 206 Drivers Catch 357 839 016B Passengers handle 357 839 205 Passengers Catch 357 839 015B

All bits arrived today, well packaged and as described. And it was inters weekend too! Hero :) !!! Now all I've got to do is find the time to fit them.....
-
Do you reckon Quentin "Count Dracula" Wilson took a back-hander from VW to build up the "it's a future classic..." feeling. Hee Hee Hee.
-
Yeah that bit's the good bit :) Or PITA when looking for spares at the scrappy... :( But didn't we get "treated" to the Storm special edition whereas the rest of the world got left out :?: :?: :?: I reckon they had a load (about 500!) of RHD parts left, 2000 BBS Solitudes and a load of unused Mystic Blue/Classic Green paint + leather interiors to get rid of... :)  and the rest is history... Hmmmm, maybe we'll never know exactly where.......
-
Anyone know where all the Corrados went? Karmann's website shows a total of 97,521 Corrados were built. I seem to remember from somewhere that a total of 9000 were sold in the UK (might be wrong - as it supposedly sold best in the UK???) so where did all the others go??? Presumably Germany got a lot, and North America got a few, but has anybody else seen any figures from VW to show where the remainder went???

Been thinking about his too. There is a speed sensor in the gearbox, but I think that the signal for the spoiler comes out of the back of the instrument cluster - i.e. raw data (pulses?) go into ins. cluster and VSS signal (voltage level) comes out. Therefore if speedo works, sensor must work. Assuming the VSS signal is coming out of the ins cluster ok then it must be either Spoiler activation module (see here for some details on how to find it) or some wiring fault (like radio mentioned above). If spoiler works OK on the manual switch, the motors/mechanism etc. in the tailgate must all be OK
-
Have you got an aftermarket Radio unit fitted? If they're not fitted with the correct electrical adapter they can interfere with the RoadSpeed Signal (VSS) that the spoiler activation unit uses. The roadspeed signal is wired to the radio for those that have auto volume adjustment - i.e. gets louder as you drive faster.

Any chance of a reprint/scan of that article??? Quality printing then on issue 26? Or someone's been photoshopping the colours - there does look to be a bit too much red - tail lights have an almost pinkish quality. (oooooooh - get me!) . That's the mystic-bluest looking classic-green I've ever seen
-
Just spotted some 'flaps with Corrado logo for sale on ebay.... Seller's user ID is "the*sprinter" :?
-
If you've got issue 26 of "The Sprinter" have a look on the back cover! Nice big piccy of mystic blue Storm (Chris Gaskell's to be precise!) with mudflaps with VW logos.

Maybe that's what the speedo shows, but on a standard VR the true speed will still be no more than 145 MPH at most. If you're running a heavily modified setup, and will be doing long stints at above 150 MPH, then yes, I would feel safer with Z rated rubber. Whilst calibrating the speedo on my VR recently (on an airfield!) I noticed that an indicated 120 MPH was actually 115 MPH on my GPS. As has been mentioned in another thread, legally the speedo can be 10% over-optimistic anyway.

So the solitudes for sale on ebay from the Golf are within this range :?: :?: :?: :?:
-
Exactly - I think it's just a scare/bullying tactic to try and force people to sign them.
-
I have heard that because this is so widely known about now, they (the police) will try and threaten to do you with "perverting the course of justice" if you do not sign - i.e. you're purposely doing it to get round the law. Quite if they could actually prosecute you is another matter - surely they couldn't make you sign it if there is no legal requirement to do so....
