Usually to either cut a big hole in the bumper where the plate was for extra cooling or to fill in the number plate recess for that extra smooth look.....
-
All factory standard Corrados are OBD1, only the socket differs - i.e. early ones use 2x2 connecter and later (post '94???) uses OBDII style connecter (but still talks OBD1) Have a look here for lead schematics. I've made a lead up myself, but it's not working (yet!) - doubt if I'll ever find the time to sort in my hectic life....... :x :x :? :( Keep thinking I might just have to splash out the 200USD for pukka VAG-COM and have done with it

Castrol GTX magnatec do a 15W40 (don't know if it's fully or semi-synth tho) Heard a rumour that Mobil 1 had just released a 15W40 grade too but haven't seen any... Just checked Mobil1's website and they recommend a 15W50 but it's not clear if they actually make one themselves... (Later EDIT) - yep they do : Mobil 1® With SuperSyn™ Formula 15W-50
-
Might be worth a go. What are you using now anyway? Should be 10W40 in winter and 15W40 in summer for a VR6.
-
Sounds like valve stems might be leaking oil into the engine then. Cylinder head recondition Sir? Oooh. Suits you.
-
Does it do it after a while at idle? i.e. waiting at lights/junctions etc. for a few mins. Only thing I can think of is valve guides/valve stem oil seals - 'cos my Pug 205 GTi 1.9 used to behave as you describe, but it would do it at idle too. Wouldn't do it all the time, just sometimes. Have you sorted out your dodgy injector(s)?

OK just located the good old C90 with The The - Infected on one side and Big Audio Dynamite's "No 10 Upping Street" on the other side - another classic from 1986 8) 8) 8)

Reading this and a few other threads, you must have changed a lot of bits recently Kev! Which means empty wallet = thankyouverymuch Mr VW Parts-Stealer!
-
Wonder why VW dropped the VR6 tag then - shouldn't it really be VR6-4motion?

Top Ten 80's and 90's non-VW hot hatches?

"XR4i" and "wet" don't go together! Even in the dry, mildy enthusiastic driving would result in the tail whipping out! Straight line speed only! -
Top Ten 80's and 90's non-VW hot hatches?

Does the original Clio 16V count (seems to remember it made more than 150brake???) Went for a ride in a mate's in 1991-ish and got scared to death    -
know what you mean - haven't listened to it for a good while though since I officially retired my turntable from the main hi-fi set-up. :( :( :( :( might have to dig out a tape of it if it's still any good (seing as it must have been about 1991 when I think I last re-taped it - kept wearing out the tapes playing them over&over in the car!!!) wriggling around like a lizard in a tin etc. etc. :)

another vinyl I need to digify via CD/mp3... 8) 8) squealing like a stuffed pig...
-
Yeah - thought I'd leave out the 12G-odd of MP3s on the iPod 8) You've just reminded me about Dare - must try and get a CD or some MP3's (Can't fit my 12" vinyl copy in the autochanger!) Octopus has got some cracking tracks though - like they went back to their pure synthesiser based roots in '95 when Octopus was released... Takes me back to my yoof when I heard "reproduction" for the first time! :D :D
-
Just wondered what tunes everyone's got in their C's? I'll start with the contents of my autochanger: 1. Seal - Seal (1991) 2. Human league - Octopus 3. Goldie - Timeless 4. Leftfield - Leftism 5. Chilled Ibiza - CD1 6. Blur - Think Tank 7. Royksopp - Melody A.M. 8. MoS Chillout Summer Collection 2003 - 1 9. MoS Chillout Summer Collection 2003 - 2 10. Prince - The Gold experience 11. Sting - Ten Summoner's Tales 12. Madonna - American Life what a mish-mash 8)

2 extra cylinders - gotta love that V6 burble? No, definitely the round heater controls :D
-
Was there ever a 24V VR6? Got me thinking after seeing a guy selling a 12V VR6 cylinder head on ebay, saying that he's swapped his engine out for the 24valve VR6? :? Confused :? Is the current V6-4motion Golf engine a "VR" i.e. narrow angle with one cylinder head? :? :? Even More Confused :? :? What abou the R32? So many questions.....................

Opening up standard later-style 3 slat grille?
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in Engine Bay
did you get it colour coded like the original storm grille? Far as I know there is only one stat for the VR6 - 80 Deg C - and that's it. -
For anyone who's interested (come on, I know everyone's dying to know....) Bowden cable 535 881 596 A is part of the front seats - the long one that goes from the seat collapse lever to the catch at the bottom of the opposite side of the seat .. sorted - I can sleep sound now :D :D :D

Opening up standard later-style 3 slat grille?
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in Engine Bay
Just had a quick look on the ETKA parts CD and there's only one grille part no. listed - thought there might be a winter/summer variant! :D :D :D -
...supercharged VR6 Sir? Suits you! M3's common as muck
-
Gave up on the Storm - wasn't prepared to pay the silly prices for a couple of extra badges, BBS Solitudes and 1 gp extra insurance! More than happy with my "Storm Spec." VR6 thanks!
-
Of the 3 slats in my later style grille, only the bottom one is open (i.e. letting air into the engine bay) the middle & upper ones are completely blocked off at the back :?: :?: :?: :?: for some stupid reason. - The grille has been manufactured like this BTW, not blocked off by some other means :? Anyone know why? Gonna get the dremel on it anyway and open up the closed ones to get some extra cooling...

If it's inside the car then it'll be to the back of the instrument cluster (MFA uses vacuum to work out the MPG reading) - not difficult to fix but a PITA to dismantle the dash. Might cost a bit in labour charges if you're not doing it yourself. If it's under the bonnet then it just might be a hose clip that needs tightening/replacing or at worst a hose needs replacing. Is your airbox securely clipped down? If you've had work done on the car then someone just may have forgotten to tighten something up properly if they've had to remove some of the intake plumbing. Not entirely sure about the ISV on the VR, and if that could be leaking, maybe someone else could help... :?: :?: :?: Have you got a friendly mechanic you can take the car to to have a listen to???
