Removed the centre console yesterday and tightened the handbrake assembly back down. Also adjusted it too whilst I had the chance. No more rattles and the handbrake actually works now :D The whole process was pretty easy so a big thanks to all who gave advice.........another fine job done with Forum help 8)

36 front 33 rear according to VW, on the 16v at least.

You might want to try nail varnish remover. I'm not saying you might be that way inclined  but it does work. I've not tried it on dashboards but it does work on other surfaces. Just try a small hidden area first.

mambomonkey, I've already mentioned my interest in these  Just need to get my finger out. -

I'll try to find a Corrado that is breaking (needle in haystack maybe) and do a proto. Unless anyone has a spare they can sell me or know of a C that is breaking. -

Not wanting to tread on anyones toes but I may be interested in modifying these. I'm in the process of starting a business partnership with a skilled craftsman friend (see my signature) which is where the polished seat handles are coming from. Apart from helping out fellow C owners, I could do with the business. Dave -
NOT Black unless you want them to look like the standard items :( What's the point of that :!:

Now if you're talking 911 territory then GO FOR IT :!: :!: :!:

If you did sell it you'd only end up with something common. Face it you don't see may C's these days and they are STILL a fantastic looking car but with old running gear. Go for the 4 motion running gear and keep the heads turnin' Dave

It looks plastic to me.........I never payed it any attention so I could be wrong.

What's with the Leather? I don't have any Leather anywhere near my handbrake.

I always use Optimax as it gives a very noticable smoother ride in my 2L 16v but doesn't make much difference to fuel consumption. I recently tried BP Ultimax but wasn't convinced.

Thanks for the guidance so far. So does anyone know how the handbrake handle and cover come off?
-
I need to remove the centre console to get to the hand brake lever mechanism. Can anyone tell me where the fixings are and anything else I need to know before I delve deeper. Thanks D

Had to call AA out twice in a year for my C. Lost ALL oil thru the pressure switch first time then top hose blew second time. Excellent service on both occasions :D

Derbyshire is only a stones throw away. Go get ya camera :)

Nice mate...............nothing to look at but the C 8)

You really need to cut far enough around the hole so that you are left with a bigger hole with the no evidence of rust whatsoever. Once rust gets a hold it's difficult to stop the spread. Depending on the size of the 'new' hole you you can either have a piece welded in or just rivet a piece over the top but don't forget the paint the bare edges of the cut hole. Whatever method you use the battery will be sitting directly on a high spot so will be a little unstable unless you had a new piece that covers the whole of the battery area.

How long do you think VW could have kept the Corrado in prod
daves16v replied to surfer.vr6's topic in General Car Chat
I think if it were still in production today, most of us wouldn't have one.................it would be like owning a Golf or an Escort........sorry for mentioning that word. -
AFAIK the bolt length into the hub must be at least 1x bolt diameter, e,g 12mm dia bolt = minimum 12mm thread length.

What are peeps opinion on road/vibration noise when going to 17's. When I had 17's on it was just too much but could have been crap tyres. Got 16's on now and it's much better.

Had mine on for about 6 months and are juddering like mad at times. Is this wear in the linkage or buggered wipers?
-
To prevent stone chips is my guess...............anyone?

Yeah but they stuck out like they do on ya house
