exoert reqd: Is The 1.8 engine the same as a golfs?
daves16v replied to madhatta's topic in Engine Bay
I've heard about the single butterfly throttle last year from a guy at Basford Dyno-tune in Notts and he recommended it too. HENNY, I take it the mod is straight forward on the 2.0 9A too? What about the duct that attaches to it, at the moment it is oval shape for two butterflys, is this flexible enough to reshape to round and will it be the right size when round? Dave -
I had this exact problem whem I first bought my C. Turned out to be the rear wheels needed balancing. Did front wheels first which didn't cure it.
-
DEL VR6, if someone can send me the details then I can knock one up and try it, maybe use your car for testing as you in the east mids...........sadly I only have a 16v
-
Fitted my clear repeaters last week, fit perfectly and look good too. Bought them from Venom Motorsport.
-
If anyone is interested, I work as a Design Draughtsman in the fabrication industry and have access to all the right equipment and materials to make said heatshields. Let me know if anyone is interested in taking this further. Cheers Dave

I also have the same problem but when I slam on the brakes in emergency stop situation I get very little braking power for about half a second then the brakes kick in........bit scary when it first happened. Still haven't managed to sort it. I took it to a VW specialist and he suggested changing the pads allround and the fluid.....it didn't work! I was hoping from the symptoms he, being a VW specialist, would know straight away. :(

Which one would you choose to hire....?

I visited cars of the stars last year, the Mad Max car is huge, massive, humungous. If you're ever in the area go see it and the other cars too. Can't take any photos tho. -
Only thing I can think of is applying downward pressure while turning the bolt. This might hold the nut on the inside just enough to loosen it. Try wedging something between bolt and chassis then undo. It's worth a try.

There are three on the same road where I work.

A member of my family had this problem, turned out to be alternator belt slipping.
-
Just to repeat what I said in a recent post, I bought Lupo wipers about 3 weeks back and got the discount without any question whatsoever.

My Koni's are set to full soft rear half turn front and the ride is still quite hard so I can't gain much there. I guess I can judge how hard the suspension is by rocking the car side to side. Cheers
-
Na, want to keep the Koni's and swap the springs. I got 4 wheel alignment for £38 last time. Anybody know what the biggest contributor to a harsh ride is.........springs or shocks? I understand it to be springs.
-
Thanks guys. Problem is the cost doesn't stop at the springs, 4 wheel alignment will follow. Probably looking at £250-300 by the time all done.
-
Kev, so you would recommend H & R? Any idea of prices for the springs? Cheers
-
So it's named after a wind........hope it's not 'fart'
-
Going from 15" to 17" didn't make that much difference, I would say 17" contributed about 10% to the stiffness. A ride that is harsh for me might be ok for someone else, it's just personal preference. I may opt to go back to 15" with H & R springs.
-
I've had my Koni suspension kit fitted for about 6 months now and still can't get used to the ride quality and probably never will. From what I understand the kit comes with Vogtland springs. Anyone been in the same boat and made a successful swap? Heard the H & R springs are a better ride quality, comments please. Don't want to go back to standard, it's just too high. Can't afford to make another cash outlay and get it wrong. Sounds extreme but I've thought about selling the C because of this. :( Cheers

In the past I've washed it and leathered it off in the garage. Bit tight though!!

Now I know why I bought a Corrado!! (well one reason anyway)

My C passed it's MOT on Wednesday.........Yessssssss, but only just. The ABS was intermittant so I told them it has been for a while and the MOT tester suggested he take it out for a run to see if it would clear. BTW he had been banging on how nice my C was. I soon talked him out of it. Then a young mechanic brought the car out to the front and couldn't stop talking about it!!!! Last night I was passed by some young kid in a Saxo approaching a roundabout, he slowed right down while I caught up and saw him oogling my C.......nice! -
Any thoughts on the Powerchip for the 16v from Motor Sport World. Not bad for £150 considering others are nearer £300. Interesting to note that they will give you your money back if you are not satisfied. http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame- ... -chips.htm Cheers Dave

How to knock over 100 bucks of your insurance.
daves16v replied to Timo.'s topic in General Car Chat
But does lying about occupation void your insurance if you ever needed to claim? :? if they ever found out of course! Also if you are the 2nd driver you don't clock up any no claims discount. -
