Just realised I've owned this for a year this month..... Can't wait to get a move on with the conversion  Few more bits are now on order too :D
-
Saw the ones on eBay earlier, thanks dude! And I need to make a trip to VW monday morning anyway, so will order them then :)
-
I'll take a trip down to VW and see how much they charge for new rear rings, if it's less than the £20 extra i'll most likely get them. And noted, many thanks!
-
Brilliant thanks for the reply guys. I'm going to remove the Corrado's rear discs tomorrow and have a look at removing the abs ring / how it's all assembled and will go from there. Thanks!
-
Yeah that's that I thought! And ofcourse! New discs and bearings all round... How do they attach to the disc?
-
I'm ordering new discs and pads this week, however I was just wondering if the ABS ring on the back of the discs could be transferred to the new discs? Otherwise it's around a £10 difference per disc haha. Cheers Dave

Great work Sean! this has come such a long way since you bought it! well done :)

Good to meet you the other week Rob! The Corrado looks amazing in the flesh! :thumbleft:

Cheers man! Well the aim is to have it's first show at Edition38, so should be at Cornwall Totally VAG show yes :D However I do need some wheels as I scrapped those horrendous 17"s it came on haha.

So Uni has pretty much taken over these past coupe of months, so not much has been done.:( Since the last update, I have stripped the rest off of the engine, painted the block, painted some engine parts, replaced seals and put most of it back together. I've also removed a snapped exhaust stud, replaced it, cleaned the surface up before putting a new exhaust gasket on and the manifold and turbo back on. I've ordered a new clutch and downpipe this week and have been slowly picking up more and more parts as the weeks have gone on. The subframe is all back together now with new engine mounts, wishbones, anti-roll bar bushes, steering rack bushes, track rod ends and ball joints. I've bolted this back on (using all new bolts which I got last year) and chucked the engine to trial fit mounting the intercooler and look at where i'm going to be mounting things, to see if any brackets need to be made up etc. I've got my uni exams in two weeks, but after that I can really crack on with this! Once i've decided what's going where and what I don't need, my mate who does bodywork is making a start on the engine bay for me whilst I do the exams! Looking forward to getting this finished, can't wait to start cracking on with it. My mate also decided to spray my oil filter pink in my absense  Hopefully aim to have it running by the end of June!

Quick question / advice. I've got an AUQ engine that i'm fitting to my Corrado. It has a new k03s and 2.5" downpipe with oversized intake tip, fmic etc. I was planning on running standard AGU management on it so I could run a cable throttle body etc. After looking into maps etc, apparently they don't do revo stage 2 maps for the AGU ECU's (obviously i know they have to be bench tested instead of live mapped) and the only other maps for the stage 2 type that I'm going for are around £400+. Is it worth swapping to the AUQ management and getting it mapped instead? All i'd need to do is get a mk4 golf pedal box and weld it to the corrado's (I believe). Opinion? I'd want to keep it standard management too rather than go down the qpeng route etc

I've got an un-cut AGU loom, you looking for one pre-converted? Might be worth sending it off to rubjohnny
-
I think I have a power steering pump, will double check for you
-
Haha fair enough. Yeah saw rogers too, he was parked down near me. I was in my little olop. Only picture from it was on the way in (excuse looking like a mug) Corrado should be at the summer meet ;) depending on funds that is... Also my mate Laura has a picture of your Corrado too I believe
-
Looked great yesterday mate! Came over to try and get you to open the bonnet however got distracted, turned back and you were gone aha. Took a cheeky picture on the phone mind.

Mine was like this, fortunately my rack was off anyway, so put it in a vice and pretty much hung off of a spanner, then moved it back and forth with a fair bit of effort to free it up. Have gone over both sides now, cleaned up the threads and wound the nuts back and forth across the threads....Now I can spin nuts all the way up and down with my hand :) good luck!
-
Thanks Pat, Yeah definitely doing so. Just trying to source the shifter tower from the gearbox! I have thought about doing a short shift too....will have to see. Haha I'm digging through diagrams as we speak. Pretty much got all of the Corrado wires labelled and those cut off that I don't need, just need to sort the mk4 loom out now. Picked up some parts the other day. Got new wishbones, track rod ends, steering boots, ball joints etc. Have stripped and painted the anti-roll bar, subframe and in the process of doing the steering rack. Should have some new pictures early next week :)

So I've been pretty slack with updating this thread, and with Uni and all I didn't do much in September! However end of october I moved units into a larger one with a couple of friends and have started to crack on with the Corrado (finally). As I had binned the wishbones and trackrod ends etc, I had to use a crate with trolley wheels on to move it to the new unit! Fortunately it was only around the corner, however we lost a wheel in the process  So we moved into a slightly bigger unit with a 4 poster ramp and compressor which is handy. Also we now have a work bench/station which makes life much easier than before! Removed some other bits and bobs before dropping the subframe again, ready to give everything a clean up State of the subframe: And after scraping off one side of crap..... Used a grinder with a wire wheel attachment to get rid of all of the rust that I could, then got around to painting it with hammerite today I also did the same to the front mount bracket. Anyway I got around to removing both wings and bonnet and started to wire brush down the wheel arches Got the engine on the stand, need to strip the rest down, fit some new parts and paint the block. Since the last pictures of the bay I have removed everything apart from the rear two brake lines. I've started using solvents to brake down the rest of the crap in the bay, most of one side is done just need to do the other side now. Then I can get around to removing the rest of the seam sealer, deleting some things and filling up some holes in the bay :) Making a start on the wiring next week. Need the windscreen taking out so I can sort the rusty windsreen panel too, though if it's too bad will get it cut out and replaced! I'm thinking on upgrading to the mk4 shifter mechanism too whilst it's all out, apparently it's a much better feel! Still need to buy a downpipe, clutch and ECU for the conversion! Among other things..... Anyway, some progress made, hopefully will update much sooner than last time!
-
No worries dude! Yeah i'm tempted to do the same to mine, it's a long list down the line though! And that's cool! yeah don't blame you haha If you organise something local I might be around if you two don't mind?
-
Awesome! Think that it's a good choice to get it resprayed properly Sean! Sounds good the plans and the new things you've bought. Will be interested in seeing how the all red rears come out! Also have a good time in Plymouth ;) how long are you down here for?
-
Do it :) they've come down massively in price lately. There's actually a guy down here selling a full AGU setup for £250 lol
-
Very smart mate! I'm liking the smoothed front bumper :) Bit annoying with the coolant issue. If it's from the thermostat housing, have you replace the o-ring? If it screws into plastic, don't over tighten it as it will crack and become loose again!
-
Upto you mate, most of them should do the job, i've gone for one with 2.5" outlets too. Thanks mate, will have a look into it. The 20v still has the original hoses on it which actually go over to where the rad inlets are, but I might upgrade them so shall see. Cheers!

Blackberry in colour, from what i've seen it's mainly the 16v's that had the script badge in silver!

Still have the above for sale if anyone is interested. Open to sensible offers!
