  1. I bought some of this stuff to do the inner skins of my doors. It's Brownbread under a different name apparently, and was raved about on some of the car audio forums!....also pretty cheap!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290220089477

    FOOT PEDALS

Yup. It's a Mk1 accelerator pedal rubber that I have on mine. Fitted pretty easily. Needs a tiny bit of modification to fit over the rado accel pedal.
  4.  fair play! They fitted a pair of these cameras just down the road from my house, and made such a mess of digging up the road to fit the induction loops that it would be physically impossible to drive over their road 'repairs' at over 30mph anyway! :brickwall:
  5. Looking good! I like the centre colour of the D90's 8) A "Karmann interior" doesn't exist though, the badge on the gearstick surround just refers to Karmann Coachworks where the rados were assembled.

    Tyres deflating

Could be a minor slow puncture in the tyres, or the tyres not mounting properly with the rims due to corrosion etc. Best off to get them down to your local tyre fitter and get them to take them to take the tyres of the rims to check for damage. You could be lucky and they could be repairable.
  7. Yeah, I hope so! I'm just filling in time really while I wait for the exhaust downpipe to come back from the welders (it's taking FAR longer than they said it would  ) I've been tidying up a few parts around the engine and in the interior. I removed the dealer fit elec window mech that was an option on some of the early valvers, and replaced it with a proper O.E one. Dynamatted the inner and outer skins of the doors, fitted VDO oil and boost pressure gauges, fitted a rear strut-brace, built my own headlight loom to replace my last uprated one (worked nicely, but was a bit unsightly), fitted a Venair silicone coolant hose kit, and did a bit of tinkering with the engine. Few pics to prove that I haven't completely been neglecting the car! (as usual) Drivers door with the O.E electric window kit fitted. I also retrofitted a side impact bar to each door. This is with the outer door skin covered in sound deadening: Inner side of the doors is also covered. (also acts as the waterproof membrane) Speaker enclosures were done today, to try and stop the nasty VW plastic from vibrating so much! And I finally got the correct silicone couplers to get this tricky bit of inlet piping built. Had to get it around the radiator (removed in this pic), clear the pas reservoir, and up to the throttlebody. It took me a while to source the 2.25" -> 2.5" 90 deg adaptor for the IC and the 2.5" -> Vr6 throttlebody inlet piece. All in one piece now and the rad has been refitted and all filled with coolant. This is the engine a month or two ago. It has all the hoses and wires connected up now, and the silicone coolant hoses fitted! Promise that next time I update will have the engine running.
  8. Emmmmm, shouldn't a 2.0L corrado already have a 50mm manifold fitted to it as standard!
  9. :D :D :D ....that's cool!!! (nice photoshopping too! 8) ) A few machineguns mounted to the sides and you'd be sorted!
  10. ooops.....didn't noticed your thread!.....Bump for buying xbones lights!
  11. Try GPC, or GSF used to do them, but I don't think they stock them anymore. Worth a quick phonecall though!

    Steering rack

Ok, my friend has a rack from a Seat Inca (also the same rack as in a VW caddy) fitted to his rado. Apparently the rack just needs the knuckle off a Toledo fitted to it as the spline pattern is slightly different.
  13. I've used these guys a couple of times now! Excellent service! 8) http://www.auto-paint.co.uk/SHOP/startup.html
  14. Yeah, neither have I! I've never once been asked to actually show the installation cert for my alarm by an insurance company though! They seem to just take my word for it that I actually have one.

    Steering rack

I'll need to double check on it, but afaik a friend of mine fitted a rack from an Ibiza/Leon to his valver, as his standard refurbed one kept springing leaks!
  16. Either standard black plastic caps from the dealer, or look around on ebay, as you can get polished metal caps there. Try looking in Maplin for a small plastic box for custom circuit boards etc. They are designed to hav ethe sides etc cut off them to accept cables. So you can get them to fit over pretty much anything. I'd doubt if a couple of those bits are still available tbh, but you can get stainless stell screws and bolts to replace the standard rusty ones. I don't think so! None of my rados had a plastic fitting there. Use something like 'gunk' to soften up the glue to get it off. The sound proofing doesn't need to be there. You get a bit more noise from the engine with it gone, and steam from teh bonnet when it rains though. Prob best off replacing it with some dynamat hoodliner etc. Sounds like a bad idea to be filing down ht leads to me!!!!.....if anything file down the plastic grooves in the engine cover! It's just a heat reflecting wrap afaik. Yup! I wouldn't!....it'll start to flake pretty quickly and look verr tatty!.....Easiest way is to give it a good clean, and use some 'back to black' type renovator to get it looking shiny!
  17.  .....if they skimped on an airfilter (probably the cheapest and easiest of service jobs) I'd hate to know what else they didn't bother doing! Tbh at this stage I'd say continuing the fsh is a bit of a false economy. It'll cost you more in servicing than it will add to the value of the car if it was sold. With a car of the Corrados age I think the current condition of the car is more important than paperwork from 10yrs ago! I service all my cars myself, as I couldn't face forking over so much money to a garage for a couple of jobs that are pretty quick and easy. But I always keep the paperwork for the service parts bought and even file a few dated photos of the work being done for the cars folder of receipts.
  18. Ahh, you may have to remove the doorcard to fit the speakers actually! Is there a round hole for a speaker behind the speaker grille? The mounting holes are actually on the back side of the plastic beside the hole (if you run your finger around the edge you should be able to feel them. Do a search on the forum about how to remove the doorcard and you should get loads of results. But basically: 1 screw on the front side edge of the card near the hinge. 2 screws on the rear side edge. Unscrew the door lock pin. Get a flat blade screwdriver and pop the cover off the door grab handle from the bottom. This should expose two large screws. Push the plastic surround around the door release lever forwards towards the front of the car and it should pop off There's probably a cover over the window winder handle that needs to be poped off to expose the screw to remove it. And that's it. The doorcard should come straight off to let you access the speaker mount! You'll need to get it off to run the speaker cable anyway.
  19. The early speaker grilles slide off towards the front of teh car. the usual problem is actually keeping them in place, as they tend to get knocked off quite easily. A lot of early valvers didn't come with speakers in the doorcards as standard! (even though the enclosures are there) If that is the case with yours, you'll have to get a headunit loom from a car with door speakers, or else add speaker cables to run to the doors.
  20. Don't buy a full set of headlights or the lenses from that website, as they will be for LHD cars!!! It's a pity the value of the '£' has dropped by so much though, as all those € prices would have worked out a lot cheaper a few weeks back!
  21. Looks good! 8) Are there any future plans for it? That front spoiler is actually the correct one for an early G60/16v etc. The Vr6 ones are shorter (50mm as supposed to 90mm)
  22. You can buy the housings separately, if it's just the tabs that are broken! Arz Clicky
  23. Mk2 Rocco prices have gone way up in the last year, and are continuing to rise, even over winter!! Decent'ish ones are getting 16v rado money now. Seem to have got a hell of a lot rarer in the last year too.....just look on Pistonheads classifieds etc.....8 Mk2 roccos for sale vs 103 rados, it's the same on Ebay etc!! There just seems to be so much of an oversupply of rados, that there is no way the price can really go up. :(
  24. Yup....lots of wet/dry sandpaper.....most of the skin off your knuckles, all of your spare time for a couple of weeks! For the price that polished stuff seems to go for, I'd definitely say that it's worth just buying some ready-polished engine bits. It really isn't the most pleasurable of jobs!
