You can pick them up from the likes of GSF or ECP. iirc they will cost about £2. AzZaC89 The coolant temp sensors on a valver bolt onto the right hand side of the head. Look below where the distributor is bolted on and you can see three 1-pin plugs bolted to the head. Try swapping the wires around on these plugs to see if you get any response from the temp gauge in the car (when the engine is warm obviously), to check that it's the sender and not the wiring to the gauge that is dead! The flashing warning light can also be for low coolant level, so be sure to check the coolant level in the expansion tank!

Can you not just remove the flywheel inspection plate underneath (beside the sump) to get at it? -
yeah, they all seem to go like that. It isn't a structural part, so I'd save the £175 and treat it like shawshankkid suggested :wink:

Never heard of that brand before tbh. They look like many of the other budget coilovers just under another name! I'd say the ride on those Ebay coilies could be very harsh. :|

I keep absolutely everything (as did the previous owners of my rado) Takes up very little space once put in a ring binder, and it's nice to see that I've got every receipt for all the work done on the car dating back over 18yrs now! Can only help with showing that the car has been well maintained over its lifetime 8) -
Gotta be too good to be true...interesting to see what would happen if you showed up at the "non specific" place with a van full of your mates though! :wave:

They use the same H3 halogen bulbs as the main beam iirc. There are led alternatives: Clicky But I'd reckon they are dimmer than the standard bulbs, and possibly not road legal. Only plus side would possibly be that they wouldn't cause the foglight lens to crack due to overheating like the standard halogens. :roll:

Remove the bolts at the back of the arch liner. Gives you enough room to get your hand in there and retrieve the lost wire! :wink:

yup, I've seen a couple of people that have done it! Not all the 3-slat grilles have the top two slats blocked off, I have a fully open 3-slat grille on mine.

I think shiny pedals like that are pretty chavvy (IMHO) I got a set of new standard pedal rubbers, and rubber cover for the accel pedal off a Golf to tidy mine up. Cost about £5 for the lot.

Yeah, there could be quite a few parts that it would be worth taking to keep as spares, for replacing the parts that usually go wrong! Is yours a late/early spec G60? Headlights, door handles, sunroof, headlight switch, ignition barrel, front fogs, front spoiler all jump to mind if you are after late spec parts, and if they are in decent nick on the Vr6. All depends though....just take whatever parts are interchangeable, and are in better nick than the corresponding parts on your G60!!

Wow! I thought I was bad paying 114.9p for diesel in Maidstone over the weekend!! :shock: :shock: Also nice to notice that most of our local petrol stations put up their prices by 2p per litre yesterday, even though the budget increase was postponed until Oct! :mad2: :mad2:

It's based on the cars official Co2 rating though, not what you get when tested in the local garage! afaik, the new car tax scheme will apply to all cars, but the new "showroom" tax only applies to new cars bought after 2009. Cas on the old cc based scheme have an increase of £5 pa

First time I removed those vents I had to resort to clasping a philips head screwdriver bit sideways in a vice grips, and using that to (gradually) remove the screw. Since then I have got a screwdriver set with a 90 deg ratchet type driver (like a mini version of a standard 3/8 socket ratchet driver) which fits in there perfectly and gets the screw out in a few secs.

Same brand name as VW parts and I've used the Febi parts without having any problems with them, but they definitely aren't 100% as good quality as genuine VW parts. Same pattern, but the quality of the materials used isn't as good. Having said that, the quality of Febi parts is generally very good, and I'd have no problem using them for anything bar the likes of rear axle bushings etc.

Could be as simple as one of the two filaments in the bulb being broken. Try the easiest and cheapest fix first, just swap the bulb for a new one! ;)

I had a butane/propane blow torch. Yours may come off quite easily.....just after possibly 10-15yrs of being rusted into place in the wheelarch my old ones were going nowhere!

Welcome to the forum....looks like you have possibly found yourself a nice project. Look at paying something more like 1.5k for a bargain Storm needing work though. As mentioned the interior is worth 500 quid alone!
