How about checking if a passenger side inner bolster is available?! (Just a thought, but I doubt it would be that easy to get around the problem  )
-
  ...I cant see this thread getting too far on a public forum
-
Link seems dead for that one! :(

One worry with an increased tyre profile like that is that it wouldn't fit properly back into the recess in the boot. I'm not sure what the profile on the tyre I have is, but it is pretty tight up against the side as it is! :?

Just remembered that when looking at the pics! Didn't you do the white -> red paintjob yourself? Or am I getting that confused with a different car
-
Blackcircles also do a spacesaver tyre: Continental Eco Contact 135/70 R15 T Slightly wider than standard, but would do the job.

Sweet! 8) I especially like the last one! How do you get that effect?

*sound of traffic screeching to a halt outside* ....what did you just say?  ....edited that bit afterwards! Basically I've been doing something 'slightly' similar to you over the last few years! Started off doing Mechatronic engineering as an undergrad, then went to do a post grad specialising in motorsport aerodynamics. As I said I spent a year doing a RA job helping out with one of the F-student teams, Now I'm just in the last few months of finishing up some research in Brunel Uni.....not too far down the road from you! Anyways...I'm basically developing a cfd aerodynamic code, so I get to do a bit of validation work down in the windtunnels...just to help prove the code I'm working on isn't complete nonsense, and hopefully someone will believe what I'm talking about!

  ...I remember my old undergrad uni days with Autocad...I was never a big fan of that software! Not used it in a long while now! We use a horribly expensive software called Catia, basically does the same job as Autocad but is infinitely more pleasurable to use and a fair bit more powerful. Good to see one of the old F-Student cars. 8) I used to work as a research assistant / aerodynamic consultant for the UCD Formula Student team a few years back. Still call in on the Brunel Formula Student team now and again, as the workshop is on the way down to my lab.

wur = Warm up regulator It's a modification to fool k-jet into increasing fuelling across the rev range. You also need to increase the mass flow of air into the engine to balance the increased fuelling. -
The parking brake light should be in the cluster just beside the high beam light! No idea what your other 'parking brake' light would be. Your parking brake is disconnected?!?....is it not illegal (and dangerous) to be driving it with that disconnected!!!

They are sealed units, so the lens's cant be removed from them!

Try Otto Or Euro car parts still do them for about £25 afaik, and should do delivery to Ireland
-
Oil pressure and voltage afaik.

8) 8) Good stuff! I'll be using this thread as a reference source when I'm attempting to get the same thing running from next weekend on!

Yup, these days GSF etc only stock the 90A one as a replacement for the standard 65A one. Every time I've got one...the pulleys have needed to be swapped over though!

The gauge wont be 100% accurate...but 40 quid at 1.05p p/L gets you just over 8 gallons, which is just over half of a 15 gallon tank! So it's not too far wrong!

I've had quite a few G reg valvers over the years and had the doorcards off all of them! I've only ever seen one that didn't have O.E electric windows!
-
Yeah, just ask in Halfarts to make sure you get the right size!
-
This is the one I use: Clicky No chance of it getting stuck down in the head.

Alloy steel driveshafts can be made as an upgrade. They aren't that difficult to source, and usually made from aircraft grade high strength steel alloy. Sort of material that is used in Wrc and F1.....so I wouldn't be too quick to bin your shiny ones!

I'm not too far away from you, just up in Uxbridge. I'll hopefully be working on my car on Sunday, so if you are still stuck, feel free to pop around and I can take a quick look under your car for you.
-
I could be difficult to see by just sticking your head under there, unless you know exactly where to look. Maybe if you could get your hands on a torch it may make things easier? It will be one of the parts in the diagram I included above that has failed. Most commonly it would be the exhaust rubber, but could also be due to corrosion on the exhaust itself, causing the hanger part of the exhaust to snap off (probably need a new exhaust centre-box in that case). It could also be the hanger on the underside of the car has got damaged.
-
Yeah, hook no. 20 and the exhaust basically are suspended from hook no. 18 (which is bolted to the underside of the car) When the rubber hangers get old they can stretch, so I reckon you have the right hand rubber hanger (in the diagram) missing, and the left hand one could well be stretched allowing the exhaust to hang down like that. It will be pretty self explanatory once you get under there and take a look. These are the sort of jobbies you are after. Only cost a pound or two and you can get them in all/most motor factors:
