  1. No prob! You have prob lost one of the little rubber hangers (labeled '15' in the pic) While you are checking them take a look at the other exhaust hangers for the backbox (circled blue) just to make sure they are all there / in one piece!
  2. Looks like you have just lost a rubber exhaust hanger. Only cost a few quid from Halfarts and takes 5 mins to fit yourself (most of that time would be spent jacking up the car  )

    windage tray?

There is one up on Ebay and all! Don't know what make it is though. Clicky

    windage tray?

I got a new OE one off an Ebay shop for just over 20 quid + p&p
  5. Check out the first, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th letters of the reg plate

    Overly horny*...

Something similar happened to me once. Turned out to be the two metal plates in the actual push assembly on the steering wheel making contact randomly.
  7. :thumbleft: good to see you finally got the car picked up!....bet it was worth waiting for! 8)
  8. I'd agree with you! Neither the 16v's or the Vr6's are really a "fast" car considering what's out there...so I wouldn't be buying one for outright speed, just the cars style and handling. Valvers will handle as well (if not better due to less weight upfront) than a Vr6, and look pretty much identical. Yes there is no doubt that given a straight choice between a valver and a Vr6, I'd have the Vr6......but.....for roughly the same amount of money, I know what I'd take if I had a choice of taking 3 valvers or 1 Vr6 in the same condition!!
  9. ahh...it's possible to do it by yourself! I did end up holding the new moonroof in position with my head on a couple of occasions where three hands would have come in very useful though
  10. Fair play for getting that IC in there! Looks like the same one I initially thought of fitting...but gave up when I realised the towing eye would have to be cut off to even come close to getting it to fit! :?
  11. Yeah, it all went together surprisingly well (apart from those ****ing axle bushings which tried to kill me a couple of time and one knackered metal brakeline)! Engine work has gone nowhere in the last two months tbh, as I said I barely went near the car at all :( I'm devoting this weekend entirely to working on the engine though. Not really that much to do...all just nasty/tricky little jobs that I have been putting off!
  12. You just need the complete moonroof + mech. Everything else from the Corrado including the motor is a direct fit to it. Only tricky part with fitting is getting the headlining out of the car. But once you see how all that unclips it isn't as bad as you initially think. There is a sunroof drain pipe in each of the four corners of the mech. With the pipes leading down towards each wheel arch. If you get undearneath the car you can see where they come out. In the past I used a testube cleaner (borrowed from one of the labs) attached to a piece of flexible metal rod like a coathanger to clean out the pipes.
  13. Passat Glass roof bolts straight in, and is tilt and slide. Had one in my car for years, and it's a great mod! Just do a search for "moonroof conversion" 8)
  14. Make sure whatever type you get it's the self extinguishing type like the one CTWG60 put up! I bought a roll of decent "looking" cloth tape off Ebay of all places, but it ignited like a firecracker when I tested it near a flame!!!  Not exactly what you want in a hot engine bay!
  15. Hello! Matrix is very easy to bypass. Just detach the two rubber hoses going into the firewall (feed and return to heather matrix). and fit a 'u' shaped piece of copper pipe to direct the coolant from the feed pipe back down the return pipe before it reaches the matrix.

    wiper arms

Surely that's supposed to be "2 x left hand (passenger side) wiper arms from a RHD Lupo" Wiper arms from a LHD car wont fit properly at all!! And a standard set of passenger side and drivers side wiper arms does the job perfectly!....I've been using them on my car for three or four years now.
  17. Part numbers (the same part numbers for both sides):
  18. Yup the one through the bottom of the shock. Both sides should definitely have an M10 bolt through them. A smaller diameter bolt will allow the shock to wobble about. The size of the actual hex head is 17mm on everyone I've seen, but I guess it isn't too important as long as the actual bolt diameter is correct. Maybe the captive nut in the beam was lost/damaged on yours and replaced with a smaller one? :?
  19. :? I was just working on two separate rear beams over the weekend and they both definitely had M10 17mm head bolts on both sides. There are no separate parts listed for either side for the bolt or captive nut on vagcat either!
  20. Start off with the easiest and cheapest solution! Check your fusebox for any blown fuses. If it is a fuse blown it could be the spolier mech getting stiff and causing extra load. It's easy enough to re-grease it, and there's a guide on here if you do a search.
  21. With bad weather, Christmas and holidays etc it's nearly three months since I last did any work at all on the car! Figured it was nice weather this weekend to I got stuck into getting a bit of work on the back of the car done! Replacement rear beam, with new axle bushings Prothane polyurethane inserts, new disks and bearings fitted. Suspension and brakes removed Dusty old beam Dusty old beam removed Fitting the poly inserts into the standard axle bushings Shiny new beam fitted along with a set of 4 new flexi brake lines. I am NEVER going to fit another set of these bushings, EVER! New Prothane polyurethane upper and lower top-mounts fitted to the rear shocks while I was at it And back on four wheels Had to destroy one of the metal brake lines to remove it. So need to get another one of them made up. I'm going to give the calipers a quick clean-up before I fit them too. Also need buy a caliper windback tool to get the new pads fitted.
  22. The cheapest of Halfords spark plug tools fits nicely down into the head to get the sparkplugs out! Clicky! Cant remember for definite if that's the correct size, but they can tell you in the shop.
  23. Damage to your headunit caused by the steam/water when your heater matrix blew? (that is if the beeping is actually coming from the speakers)
  24. Other option (which I used) is to pick up a spare set of seats on Ebay (usually for only a few quid) and transfer the good inner passenger side bolster from the spare set to the outer drivers side bolster on the original set and visa versa for the other side. The inner bolsters get virtually no wear so in my case they were 'as good as new'. You have to sacrifice and old set of seats to do it, but it turned out to be a very cheap way for me to get a full set of fresh bolsters on my car! 8)

    Hub removal

In the past I've resorted to jumping up and down on a 1m breaker bar to get it loose. Can be a right bugger to get loose alright!
