I've no idea what a new complete housing costs tbh. 2nd hand one could probably be picked up on ebay etc, for a few quid though. Individual prices of all the bits are listed here, if you click the part numbers: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/COR/1990/76/55/846444/

The whole gearstick housing has to be removed from underneath. So it involves removing the centre section of the exhaust (and possibly the downpipe depending on how much room is needed to get the housing out). The exhaust heat shield also has to be removed. But once that is all out of the way there are just two bolts underneath and two inside the cab to remove along with the cables from the gearbox end. I'd say a min of two hours labour + parts. It's not that difficult of a job, it is quite messy though!

This problem of Steves has been niggling at me too! Seen as he has forever being trying to steal the temp sensors out of my cars!! Thank god ye finally got around to checking yours Steve!
-
Can you get a photo of it? Sounds like it could be for one of the temp senders at the side of the head. I'll take a proper look at mine tomorrow though, and find out for sure.

Doesn't really show up as having a specific name. I'd just replace the whole thing with some standard vac line from the airbox to the throttle-body though! http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/COR/1994/76/49/841755/

A friend of mine tried those ones out and they didn't work at all! Made very poor contact with the windscreen afaik, Bosch do a retro fit aero wiper blade though. Which I'd have more faith in.

88-91 VW Passat Haynes manual covers most 16v engine + drivetrain + braking parts.

94 should be a late spec (50mm) splitter.

afaik GPC sell them You'll have to phone them up though as their website is useless and they never respond to emails! :?

How many garage trips in 07 (Poll vanished! please add)
Dec replied to IrishG60's topic in General Car Chat
what should I vote if my car has only left the garage today (on the back of a truck) for the first time in 2007!?!? -
Friend of mine came out of his house yesterday morning to find that someone had very kindly removed the entire front bumper off his car! None of the neighbours noticed anything and it was all very neatly unbolted and taken off along with the fogs lights! Not the first time he's had probs outside his house either! The car is just out of the bodyshop after getting some pretty serious key-ing sorted out! If anyone knows of any replacement E36 M3 bumpers and fogs for sale anywhere in any colour, let me know as he needs to get the car back on the road, and cant drive it at the min!

The two uprights are: The rear engine mount (closest in pic), and the gearbox mount. In that pic the wishbones are fitted to the subframe. So the wishbone bushings (red bits). ARB bushings, balljoints and engine mounts will all need replacing due to wear.
-
Any use?

Looks good! 8) Reminds me of mine, before I started playing with it! One 'suggestion' would be to put an early spec bonnet back on it.
-
mfa has two positions. A trip mode and a cumulative mode (marked 1 and 2 on the stalks). I'd say you currently have it in the trip mode, which is supposed to reset most of the functions when you turn the ignition off. Just switch it over to the other position, and reset it to get what your after!
-
Parking light? Check that you hadn't got the indicator in its 'left' position with the ignition off.
-
1.8L valvers, don't have a lambda probe, so no need to worry about that! May be worthwhile getting the timing checked (along with the other suggestions)
-
Cut the slam panel itself!?!? Surely it's easier just to mod the plastic grille! Less costly if you make a mistake either, worst taht can happen is you need a new grille!
-
You can carefully cut the mounting tabs off the later grill and glue them back into same positions as the 2-tab early grilles.
-
Get some Febi / Bilstein mounts from here, afaik they are cheaper than GSF anyway! http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_other.php
-
Guide: Clicky GSF part number (As has been mentioned, check it's a Valeo item): 17832B HEATER MATRIX CO 9/88 > 36.50
-
Talking quite a lot of money to get it fixed in a garage unfortunately! The matrix itself isn't "that" expensive, but there is quite a lot of labour involved as it can be a complete dash-out job (although it can be done by just removing the lower dash panels, but it's a tight squeeze) Best off doing it yourself tbh! There is a very good guide from the Canadian Corrado club floating around here somewhere.

I have been using these guys lately! Very good service, and ridiculously cheap! http://www.payperdrop.co.uk

Good stuff! I see you went for the a/f gauge too! I'm halfway through installing the same kit! It's not too bad a job, there is quiet a bit of wiring to route though.

Cheers! Yeah, the smell and dust off the ashtray plastic when you are cutting it is absolutely disgusting! I'm just getting the exhaust downpipe sorted at the moment. I've carefully cut sections of s/s pipe out to fit down through the gap between the block and the firewall. I'm just trying to find somewhere to weld it together for me now! The lease is up on my garage at the end of the month, so the car will be brought the mile up the road to my house to sit on the driveway. It's a good thing really, because seeing the car sitting there will give me a bit more of an incentive to get up off my arse and work on it. Also the lack of electricity in the garage is really becoming a pain at this stage!
