    Belts/pulley

Thats the waterpump pulley. The larger inside pulley ring should be able to slip and rotate without spinning the smaller outer pulley ring, but it shouldn't be rattling!
  2. I have a spare rear axle (thats definitely straight) if you need one.
  3. Probably just the switched and constant power wires need to be switched around. Most wiring looms have plugs on both of these wires so they can be reversed to prevent the problem you're having!
  4. you have to be sure that the bolts will match your wheel too though! Your wheel will either have a rounded or tapered seat, so you need the matching type of bolt.
  5. Try Windrush VW in Slough instead. They take orders over the phone + internet
  6. Well the axle itself is just a lump of pretty solid metal, there's not really a whole lot that goes wrong with them. So as long as it's in reasonable condition, I'd go for the 2nd hand option, but use some of the cash you've saved getting it stripped and re-painted, and get decent bushes etc. fitted to it! Whats wrong with your old axle though? Why not just get that rebuilt and cleaned up?

    heater matrix

You shouldn't have to remove the whole heater box + matrix to check the heater control mech! It's quite easy to get at really! Just remove the front fascia / stereo surround etc, and the lower dash tray on both the drivers and passenger side foot wells. You can now get good access at the control flap parts and cable mech of the heater box! 8)
  8. It's a sucker! It's mounted behind the radiator and sucks air back through it as opposed to being mounted in front of the rad and blowing air through it!
  9. Its one way to make 100% sure the loom you are using is in top condition though! Fair play! :notworthy:
  10. You don't really want to hide it permanently though, as it also acts as a warning screen if any of the engine parameters are outiside normal operating conditions.
  11. Yup, that is part of the metal sleeve of the original bush. It needs to be pushed out of the rear beam with a special VW tool, a couple of people have made their own DIY tool apparently. (I'll try find the pic of it for you)

    Engine paint??

I've used Halfarts high temp engine paint for the last few years, has done the job perfectly for me!
  13. Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s^2
  14. Very nice! 8) What are the rest of the specs on the engine? I actually saw a rado when I was in Vouliagmani, just South of Athens a few weeks back!
  15. A pas belt only costs £2.30, and only takes 10 mins to fit. Why not just stick one on for the MOT to be sure? http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1607
  16. don't know if it's what you are after but BBM so an adapted pipe flange for the front of the head

    valver wont idel!!

Had something similar happen with one of my old valvers. Turned out to be one of the pipes coming loose at the back of the airbox! The car would just about run, but it was a struggle to keep the engine going at all. Just pushed the pipe back on and it was perfect. Doesn't explain the oil warning light though. :?
  18. It will be a perfect fit!.....I got mixed up and figured a J reg was an early spec Corrado for some reason
  19. Ditto!!...I have a spare rear beam that I'm going to be fitting new bushes to in the next week or so! Would be handy to see what's involved, and what sort of home made tool can be made!

    20vt conversion

easier (but not that cheap) to change the driveshaft flanges for 02j 100m ones
  21. IT will physically fit, but it will be narrower than the late spec wings and the bonnet wont line up with it very well.
  22. Just don't look at that touchscreen digital dash they do too!.....one of them has been added to my 'medium term' shopping list
