  1. Sounds quite tame most of the time...but beyond 4k rpm it does sound quite nice! 8)
  2. I can see them perfectly! Looks pretty good! Nice base for a project anyway! 8) 8)
  3. I know you can get add-on components to change the radio range so it would work in the UK, but I'd doubt you could upgrade the radio to RDS that easily! :(
  4. Was discussing that mod a while back and all! Get down to a scrappies and get the washer jets off the wiper arms on a Peugeot 405 or the likes! Would be a simple enough mod to fit them onto the Corrado wiper arms, and gives you a much nicer even spread of washer fluid than the bonnet mounted jets would give you! 8)
  5. Wont you also lose the RDS features and have a slightly different tuner range with a US spec stereo though?
  6. Got this one off Ebay.de (Manifold Clicky) Just had confirmation from the seller that it has been posted out to me today! 8) Should make life easier too as the round inlet to the Vr6 throttlebody should be easier to match up to the intercooler piping than the oval 16v throttlebody inlet. Just came home to day to find the full leather recolouring/repair kit has arrived! So now I have a 2nd project for the weekend! (1st project being tidying up a few little bits and pieces on the new daily driver)
  7. Orange side repeaters are standard fit! Just that they have been replaced by most owners! They have to be the most common lighting part I've seen! Are available on most 80's/90's VAG cars and on the likes of Porsches etc! I'll dig up the part number for you!
  8. I bought one a few years back packed the exact same way! Obviously smashed to pieces when it arrived!......sellers excuse "well I had it pretty well padded"
  9. Yeah, a bit overdue an update at this stage!! Slow work as usual I'm afraid! I've got the turbo fitted and all the intercooler pipework and silicone joins laid out. I've bought a load of small little parts like the t-piece pipework for the tial bov etc, and finished all the wiring for the Megasquirt. I had to change my plans with the inlet manifold as I couldn't get enough clearance between the TPS of the throttloebody and the turbo. So, I ordered a short runner intake from Germany....unfortunately the seller was a complete muppet and never delivered the thing. So I was delayed by about a month on the engine build while I waited to get my money back from him! I've ordered a new one now, so hopefully it should get my hands on it shortly! Then its just a case of getting a custom exhaust downpipe made up and the water injection kit bought and it'll nearly be finished! In the meantime I've concentrated on the interior. I finished soundproofing the floorpan with Dynamat stuff. I also bought a heated grey leather interior which I have stripped back and am preparing to refurbish and dye a tan colour. Powdercoated rearbeam is still sitting there waiting to be fitted with new bushings, bearingas and disks etc. But that will be the last thing fitted I think.
  10. Yet there are so many Rado owners swapping over the standard mirrors that are good enough for Mclaren and Tvr, for naff looking ones (IMHO) off other cars like Mazdas  I could just imagine that if the Rado had different mirrors, there would be loads of us queing up to do the Mclaren/Tvr wing mirror conversion
  11. Vr6 wouldn't be a 4 cylinder car though
  12. cant imagine they'd make any difference to induction nose, as most of that comes from the openings in the airbox itself. A negative point of them would be that the metal pipe would conduct radiated engine heat more than the plastic, so may result in slightly hotter intake temps. If you're getting it for free, why not get it and try it out!! It wont do any harm to your engine, but I really doubt if it would improve performance at all!
  13. Don't see how it can do any harm to your engine, after all it is just a length of metal pipe to replace the standard rubber/plastic pipe! afaik, they will do nothing to improve performance. But will add some extra bling to your engine bay (if that's what you're looking for)
  14. not quite sure what you mean! I wasn't suggesting a method of how to take the topmounts off....just a method of compressing the spring so you can put it back together! Once you have everything apart and the shock absorber, and wheel removed from the car. The steps to putting it back together are: 1) Put the retaining washer, new spring plate and new lower rubber topmount on the shock. 2) Put the shock back on the car and bolt on the lower bolt (at the very bottom of the shock itself) while passing the top of the strut back through the hole in the arch. 3) Put the wheel back on and gently lower the car back down on the jack to compress the spring (or else jack up the rear beam with a 2nd jack) 4) You should now be able to see the top of the strut coming back through the hole in the arch, once you have lowered the car enough you will be able to see the thread on the top of the strut. You can now replace the lower nut and tighten it down to fully compress the spring. 5) Reassemble the rest of the top mount in the correct order.
  15. you can use the weight of the car to compress the spring. Jack it up and remove all the bits from the top of the shock (remembering which order they go back together again). Bolt the bottom bolt of the shock back on and put the wheel back on. Now gently lower the car on the jack and the spring will get compressed enough for you to get the nut on the top of the topplate. Once you have tightened up that bolt you can jack it back up and stick on a new set of rubber topmounts 8)
  16. When I've gone in I've always got between 10-15% discount.....guess I may just have been lucky with the parts I was buying!
  17.  I think that's kinda cool! (In an odd way)
  18. It's nice and easy really! Around the top edge of the airbox are 8? metal spring clips. I think there are two on each side if I remember rightly. Just pop each of these open (sometimes it can be easier to pop them open with a flathead screwdriver). Once they are all undone you can lift the top of the airbox, (including all the attached fuel lines etc) up enough to take the old filter out and stick a new one in!
  19. Nice!! 8) Got one of them in 2nd place on my "things to buy" shopping list! Good to see you found a good supplier, as I was looking into getting one in from the US!
  20. looks a bit daft imho!! Looks like a giant spiders web at first glance!

    Sub frame disaster

Hi, Depends on where in Ireland you are for parts really! There is a GSF (just click the GSF word for a link to their site) shop in Dublin that you could get wishbones + bushings from for pretty cheap. Or else AVS also deliver to Ireland. Or get orig parts from any VW dealer (wouldn't like to see the price of a subframe from a dealer though!! ) My suggestion would be to ask the lads on http://www.vagdrivers.net they would be more up to speed on where to get parts there 8)
  22. Looks good! Hard to judge the size without anything beside it for comparison though! What diameter are the inlet/outlet? There are plenty of holes on it to make up some custom brackets, so I'd say you should be able to get it to fit with a bit of modification to the slam panel. My only worry would be the way that the inlet/outlet is high on one side and low on the other. When I fitted mine I needed both inlets/outlets as high as possible to fit under the part of the slam pannel where the headlights + grille etc sit, but to get the pipes over the front crossmember. Sure someone else here has fitted one like that though 8)
  23. Cheers! Good thing I asked! I had an idea in my head that the standard ones couldn't be any wider than 9"
  24. What diameter fan did you get from G-Werks? I'm looking at getting one myself, but don't have my old fan cowling to hand.
