I thought S2 pistons would only fit the 2.0L blocks and not the 1.8's? The rods will fit though (got them in mine)

Saw that a while back alright! Think I'd try it out on my Peugeot before going near the Corrado with an inverted air duster though!

When I was working on the engine parts that start off with a very rough surface the best trick I found was to use a dremel. Just cut out a miniature sanding dish about 2cm wide from a sheet of paper. It's small enough to get into most awkward areas and gives you good control over it. On the engine parts I started off with 240 grit and worked my way up to 800 grit with the dremel. then I wet sanded with 800, 1200, 1500 and finally 2000 grit just to remove any of the 'circular' marks left behind while using the dremel......saves sheds of time this way! No way I could have even dreamed of miror polishing the gearbox completely by hand!

Those snowflake alloys have to be one of my favorite wheels on mk1's roccos etc...mirror polish the outer faces of them and leave the centres black 8) 8)

Cool! 8) I picked up an old Mk2 Rocco a year or so ago for a few quid more than that!.....cant beat the old + cheap V-dubs!
-
Looks far from a rust bucket! 8) Nice colour too, I briefly had a valver that colour a while back! That ride height is crazy though! I've never seen a valver so high!!

Another one bites the dust... - Sod the cost, i need a rado.

The switch for the reverse lights is ontop of the shifter gables on the gearbox (on valvers, anyway). Small black box, about the size of a golfball with a two pin plug attached to it. There are two bolts to remove it, and the internals are very basic when you see them, so should be easy enough to check what is going wrong! Or just get someone else with a multimeter to check there is resistance across the two pins in the plug as you put it into reverse.

afaik, you'll need custom driveshafts, as the flanges are further apart on the 02M boxed than on the 02a/02j. I'm sure there is quite a bit of info on here somewhere about them, if you do a search

Just been looking around for them too! This is the best place I've found so far; but I'd be interested to see if anyone knows anywhere else good! http://www.demontweeks.co.uk/products/ProductList.asp?cls=MSPORT&grp=MP206&pgrp=M024&tlgrp=MS004

I'm in too! :-P

yup!.....well, it may have been more of a case of "you have to phone them up" to get a quote for modifications, and it wont do it on the online quote. But I'm sure it would say on the website somewhere [*]Too lazy and full of lunch to look myself!

Quite a few of my friends here have changed over to them! Good report from a friend of mine who had someone roll backwards into him in traffic!....apparently they dealt with it quite well...so general thumbs up in the reports I've heard  I would have used them, but afaik they don't deal with any modifications!

Sounds like the v-belts slipping to me! Also the cheapest / easiest thing to check, so a good place to start, before changing pas pumps! I think the three belts can be replaced for less than a tenner from the likes of GSF. If you look under the car just behind the pas pump, you can see some bolts for adjusting the lower v-belt. Get some new belts, and make sure they are tight enough, so that they aren't slipping

Front reminds me of a Trans-Am!

Just watching them too! There's two of them up there!....the orig Rocco one and then one for the 16v

Looks great! Interior looks spotless! 8) Nice rugby jersey too! -
Yup...definitely been sprayed by the looks of it, it's far too dull to be the original finish! :( Was looking into getting the reflectors on mine re-finished properly a year or so back, and it turns out that it's not really worthwhile, and very difficult to find someone who can actually do it!

Easiest way I've found to do it (if you don't have spring compressors) is to use the weight of the rear of the car to compress / decompress the spring. Just remove the rear speaker shelves to get access to the top of the strut. Undo the nuts labeled '15' in that etka diagram, and remove the upper rear suspension bush (13). Now when you jack up the rear of the car the spring will gradually de-compress itself! When you have it up to a reasonable height, check the spring is loose and isn't still under compression. Stick an axle stand under the car, undo the bottom suspension bolt (3 + 4) and the shock + spring will simply drop out of the car. Just do this in reverse to get the shock back on and the spring compressed! Pretty easy job...no need to take it to a garage at all!

Haven't even updated the site since last December! Looks like it's dead in the water tbh

There are small differences between the early (1.8L 16v & some G60's) and late spec cars (2.0L 16v, 2.0L 8v, Vr6's).....do a search on here and for : "early late spec differences" and I'm sure you'll find all the details! The front end parts you mentioned are all interchangeable from early -> late spec and vv....wings/bonnet etc are slightly different shapes, so may not line up perfectly with the other type of bonnet/wing etc. Both 2.0L 16v and Vr6 are late spec cars though...so parts should swap perfectly! and afaik all the rear bumpers are the same part throughout the range.

They still look pretty damn ugly though IMHO  Just remind me of those daft hoop shaped brush things that people used to put on the centre hubs of bicycle wheels to stop them getting dirty! I just cant see the point in using something that looks worse than the outcome of what it is used for preventing!....stone chipped bonnet looks better to me than a car bra
