  1. A good tip for undoing stubborn bolts is to hit the head of the bolt hard several times, this shocks the bolt and frees the tread up. Sounds far fetched I know, but its got me out of awquard situations before. I agree with the spline theory, I've done that loads of times. I know there is not much room there, but make sure you hammer the spline tool in very hard, this will ensure it is deeply inserted in the bolt head and will shock the bolt as mentioned above. I have a sealey set of Allen/Torx/Spline tools which was not silly money at around £20 which would definately have the tools you need. I always use the allen tool combined with a ratchet to undo these bolts and never have problems. I always clean the head out first and hammer the tool in before even trying to undo it.
  2. Are you copying me? Two Phils with Corrado 2.0 16vs and Leon Cupras  Both are great cars, I'm using the Seat as an every day run around and the Corrado comes out at weekends. The Corrado feels slow compared to the Seat, which has loads of low down grunt, but I find myself grinning every time I drive my Corrado.
  3. Spooky I'm lucky enough to be driving both cars at the moment - much better option than combining the two

    manuals

I have an old Passat Haynes manual which covers the 9A. You could try to get one of them.
  5. Had a look on RAC web-site it has had 3 previous owners, the last owner change was 8th March 04. Probably not much help, but every bit of info helps. Good luck.
  6. I'd go for that too, also make sure you clean all the contacts up.
  7. As Matt says, it doesn't look to bad, still very frustrating though.
  8. Here is my French inspired Golf.
  9. Nice car, same colour and engine as mine :D
  10. Mk2 GTI is still cool, I had mine for 5 years. Leon Cupra is a lovley car, smooth, comfortable and fast, even so, I still love the Corrado. Not sure if i'll keep the Seat, I got it cheap with a few faults, which I have sorted now. Might sell it and hopefully make a small profit on it.
  11. I really like the new designs, shame I have a 16v, look forward to seeing designs for people with them.
  12. I removed the cat from mine, I actually prefur it with it!. It seems to lose mid range power without it. How many miles has yours done? I changed the injectors at around 140K and that made a noticable improvement. Got mine from Euro car parts, not sure of the exact price, but Euro and GSF were cheapest.
  13. Blown, Quite supprised to see you have a picture of a Seat Cupra, is that a Leon? I have a Leon Cupra and a Corrado 16v, on seatcupra.net I'm using the photo of my Corrado!
  14. Have a look on the volksworld web-site, I was on there the other day looking at beetles for sale, there are loads.
  15. Thats all very well, but doesn't the golf driver realise, he won't get where he's going any faster than anyone else will. Very cool cars, would love to have been a passanger in them.
  16. On seatcupra.net there is a post about key fobs, I have suggested there may be interest on here for Corrado forum key fobs, which if we all ordered together could reduce the cost of them. This could either be something we all place an order for, or maybe something which could be offered in the CF chop. Click below for more info. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=43307
  17. Just been through the same. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15624 HIC told me they can't mirror NCD, but I got an introductory discount. I tried Brentacre, they were supposed to call me back but didnt. I managed to hagle HIC down to something reasonable in the end. My other car is insured with them too.
  18. Ive done it, although it was nowhere near 180 miles. Good fun, my mate borrowed his mums old orion to do it in, I didnt want to use my Corrado and he wouldn't use his Audi. Definately need a car your not too concerned about. I was navigating, but felt quite sick through looking down all the time. Had to pull out due to worn out brake pads. Not done it since. It cost around £20 for a years membership to the club, and I think £5 on the night. We started from chelmsford.
  19. I've just haggled HIC down to £220 for the year TPFT, 3000 miles PA. So my Corrado is back on the road again after almost 2 weeks of rest.
  20. It would be far fairer to have one no claims bonus system which applies accross all policies as a history of your driviing like speeding penalties etc. If you make a claim any insurer will penalise you for it, but if not they only give you credit for it once! In 11 years of driving I have zero claims against me. With HIC my Corrado was around £490 fully comp. for 1 year unlimeted mileage. I have transfered that insurance to my other vehicle. They quoted me for 3000 miles per year £260 TPFT or £460 fully comp on the Corrado.
  21. I have just taken my Corrado off the road, I've swapped the policy to another car. I have full no clames which I can't use twice with my current insurer. ie my no claims is used on the other car. Does anyone know of any reason why I can't go to another insurance company and provide them proof of no claims and get the full discount with them?
  22. 150,000 miles, just loosening up. My previous car an 8v 1990 Golf GTI is on 193,000 miles and still going strong.
  23. Just been quoted £260 Tpft or £460 fully comp on 2.0 16v. I'm 28 with clean licsence, this does not take into account my no claims which is used on a Seat Leon Cupra I've just bought.
  24. I work in Chelmsford, never seen a Silver one, not seen yours either!
