I saw that, my thoughts were hash up. What is the blob to the right of the rev counter? Looks dodgy to me!
  2. I agree with Joe M, can't see how it could happen. Goes well by the looks of it though.
  3. I'd sort the thermostat housing leak first, that is a known fault. You need to find there the water is leaking from at the header tank. Possibilities: 1. Cap pressure release - Is it operating correctly? i.e. is it damaged and releasing early or is the pressure building too much and the cap is having to release it. 2. Cap to tank seal - Is this making a good seal, make sure all mating parts are clean and the rubber 'O' ring is in good condition. 3. Damage to cap - Examine for cracks etc. 4. Damage to tank - Examine for cracks etc. 5. Leaks around connecting hoses and sensor. While you have leaks you will need to top the water up. Fix them and take it from there. Once it is leak free, if it still uses water, it suggests futher investigation of the engine is needed. Most garages have a sniffer which tests for head gasket problems. Might be worth getting that done.
  4. If you want a torquey engine, by which I assume you want decent low to mid revs grunt the 16V is not ideal, it is a characteristic of them that they feel a bit flat, but once they rev they can really move. Maybe a G60 Corrado would be the easiest option?? The reviness of mine always makes me grin though. Mine produces a reasonable amount of torque but it peaks at around 5000 rpm.
  5. After a short drive the condensation/water in the engine will not evaporate. Keep an eye on the cap after longer journeys.
  6. My other car is a Seat Leon Cupra, although one of them has to go soon  . The Seat is more expensive to insure than the Corrado so I used my NCD on that. I have 10 NCD by the way.
  7. I know, but when I enquired which was about October last year, they told me they don't do policies which cover more than one car. Luckily I hagled and shopped around quite a bit and paid £220 to insure the C for 3000 miles per year.
  8. HIC would not allow me two cars on one policy. Had to take out a second policy for the Corrado with 0 NCD.
  9. They are taper roller bearings which are adjustable, definately.
  10. I've done this on mine, I have also separated off part of the area behind the grill to make a scoop, plus I have plumbed it in so the air flap inside the airbox can still block the cold feed if needed.
  11. When I got my first 3 points, I rang up HIC and they said, "Everybody gets that, not a problem". I was well pleased, no increase. If it had been more serious than an SP30 I think it would have been a different matter though. Good luck Nelson, you'll get there, I waited 5 years to afford to buy a C!
  12. 150,000, it's just loosening up and getting quick now
  13. Mines lowered 35mm. No problems on speed bumps, but in multi storey car parks the spoiler hits at the bottom of the ramps.
  14. I looked into chipping mine last year, but got so many conflicting views I chose not to spend the money. Thats a very big increase on a normally aspirated car for just a chip. I'd be cautious, but if you do it, I'm interested in the outcome.
  15. Nightmare, people just don't care. I have 2 dents like that on my passanger side door. Plus someone scraped my rear bumper whilst it was parked at work. My car had perfect bodywork before this. Going to get it repaired soon.
  16. A mate has a Cooper which handles very well. You feel involved in the driving similar to a C. I had a blast with a Cooper S and kept with it, seemed pretty evenly matched to my C.
  17. Red Corrado in Maldon Thurs 13th near Safeway at about 8.30pm. Green Corrado A12 between Borham and Danbury junctions 1.15pm today.
  18. The revs do drop a little quicker between changes, but not enough to cause me any concern. You can notice a difference accelerating particularly in 1st, and a bit in 2nd, after that not much different to std. Mine is a machined std one from Race Power Motorsport on Dartford. IIRC £80 + my original. Its worth doing, but I'd only do it if I had the gearbox off for another job.
  19. Looks 8) Always good to see another valver pushing out respectable power.
  20. To check if its going to leak whilst the door card is off, poor water over the outside of the window along its complete length, it will then go past the seal into the door. You can watch the path the water takes. If you've done it right it only comes out of the drain holes on the underside of the door.
  21. Looks very nice, I like the headlamps, I take it they are standard withouth the plastic surrounds??
  22. Lovely looking car, wouldn't mind that parked next to my C.
  23. Ahh ok, well if and when I get round to it, I will post the outcome on here.
  24. I used ambersil groom, water and a wet vacuum cleaner bought for £40 from argos. Really works well, when I emptied the cleaner there was loads of dirt.
