I think this is what i want my car to stand like. Ditch the 4x4 look
-
Thanks for the info Mr Clumpy. Think i'll stick to the bare look for now. Just got the little rust patch where the paint has come off, to sort out on the right hand side top edge as shown in the photo's.

Cheers guys. TBH I'm not sure to replace it or not. Daft Questions now, Will it in anyway do any damage to the paint having no insulation? Will it effect the temp under the bonnet as to maybe running cooler? As since i have done it dunno if i'm right, but i did a 40 mile trip in 23 degree outside temp (made a nice change),in traffic most of the time and the average temp of the water was around 75 to 80 and the oil temp was about 94 to 96. Not sure if there is a problem don't really know the correct running temperatures of the oil and coolant should be in the weather conditions mentioned.

Nice car, the paint has been transformed, good job there. :thumbleft:

I'm not sure Kevin about that. The printer is still in the early test stages finding out what are the best plastics to use. We have done numerous frustrating tests over the last couple of months and are currently testing a new plastic which is a blue colour. Black and white we have also used with some good results. Yes David we do have a few melted stickle bricks to show, NOT been easy :bonk: I will have to look into the chrome plastic. If i eventually get a badge produced it will be more than likely be a smooth finish which we have already got sussed that is a pain in its self. Then the badge will be primed and then finished in either Red or Silver paint. It is possible to have the plastic, chrome dipped to get the chrome finish. TBH this is how it should look as you know. I don't think chrome plastic is available yet. (could be wrong but i was told it was not at present). like i have mentioned we are in the very early stages yet, need to iron out the teething problems first which are getting better. Getting the quality of the plastic right is essential to the out come of the finished piece. I will update here as well on our progress`````onwards and upwards.:thumbleft:

Yes the printer is in it's testing stages using different grades of plastic. As for the use of other badges it seems to be the easy thing to do. However the item has to be 3D scanned to be then entered onto a computer. The item will have to taken to a company who will be willing to scan the badge, at a cost and then we have the "master" 3D image. Then take it from there. A 3D scanner is on the cards. I will keep you all posted on this. Thanks for the offer of a loaned badge, Easypops will keep this in mind, thanks. Edit: Your quite welcome to come and see it in action Mr Vag.

I have access to a brand new 3D printer. just had a thought if a front VR6 badge could be printed? It would be nice to get a badge 3D scanned and then try it out. (if only i had a badge, being looking for a reasonably priced one now since Joda was a lad). Dunno what the quality would be like but it's worth a try. have to keep looking on ebay etc for now.

can i ask is there any right and wrong way to clean the sunroof drains? As i'm wanting to do mine at some point just to be on the safe side, i don't have any issues at present.

Am I imagining a difference in performance? - Fuel related
Ray1965 replied to DPS's topic in General Car Chat
I;ve switched to Shell V power, so judging from your comments it's a good move? Talking about Tesco i have seen on Facebook twice in recent months people filling up with their Diesel and having major problems with cars packing in and numerous engine running issues. Maybe it is down to the state of the actual filling stations supply tanks or is it the quality of the fuel? Correct me if i'm wrong to me this has to be wrong as all the supermarkets buy from the same supplier and fill the tankers with the same fuel. I've been on the M180 motorway going over to Grimsby and all you see on there is Morrison, Tesco etc tankers going to the immingham refinery to fill up. -

I think my Son has used something very similar to this, when he stripped out his golf to upgrade the speakers. It worked well to my knowledge.

Strange white spirit is usually every thing friendly as it does not react with most paints and fillers etc. obviously there has been some adverse chemical reaction with the paint and the glue, my question is why and what is the type of paint used?

What Your Old Spark Plugs Tell You about Your Vehicle Condition Clues Probable Causes Remedies Normal plug Brown or greyish- tan deposit on side electrode, Everything’s fine. Just clean and re gap the plug. Carbon-fouled plug Black, dry, fluffy soot on insulator tip and electrodes. Overly rich fuel/air mixture, dirty air filter, too much driving at low speeds, or idling for a long time. Switch to “hotter” plug. (The higher the plug number, the hotter the plug.) Oil-fouled plug Wet, black, oily deposits on insulator tip and electrodes. Oil may be leaking into cylinders past worn pistons or poorly adjusted or worn valves. Clean and re gap the plug, or replace it, but find out where the leak is coming from. Burned plug Blisters on insulator tip, melted electrodes, burned stuff. Engine overheating, gap is too wide, wrong or loose plugs, overly lean fuel/air mixture, or incorrect timing Replace the plug. Worn plug Severely eroded or worn electrodes Plug has been in there too long Replace the plug.
