  1. Another one of these "What's my C worth"-threads. As I'm starting to toy with selling my US-spec Rado I was wondering whether you guys might be interested and what price she'd fetch. What's it got? Well, it's a US-spec G60 with loads of goodies: Factory oem A/C (works), cruise control (works), ELRA (automatic seatbelts, very groovy), height-adjustable steering wheel column, unique US-only half-leather seats and matching colour-coded interior (black, not grey), working sunroof (quite unique in its own right ), 3rd brake light, clear side markers front, rear bumper without toe-eye (again, US-only) and some other US-specific stuff. It furthermore has InPro smoked rear lights (very dark indeed :-) ), Momo Corse 320 mm steering wheel, Momo Arrows 16x7.5 alloy wheels with 205/45 tyres, Trimsport chrome gearknob with G60-logo, chrome antitheft aerial, Miltek stainless steel exhaust system, VR6 CAT, headlight relay kit (self-made). It has a newish Lambdaprobe, new blue temp-sender and CO-pot (just fitted recently), brandnew fuel pump and sender (fitted 2 weeks ago), new brake disks and Pagid Fast Road pads front, new disks, pads and Mk4 Golf calipers rear with braided hoses, G-Lader serviced by G-Werks November 2004, new cambelt, polyribbed belt, and V-belt and new cambelt pulley fitted September 2005, and some more. It's also got a Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser with keyfob central locking. I know this almost looks like a for sale advert, but it isn't yet. Otherwise I'd stuck it in the For sale section straight away. Just curious what you guys would potentially pay for this :-) Tempest
  2. Arrgghhh, my Corrado is really starting to annoy me big time now, getting closer and closer to just wanting to get rid of the thing. What's happened now then? Well, as a preparation for my expensive visit to Stealth this upcoming Thursday to let them sort out all sorts of problems that I'm sick and tired of sorting myself (and failing), I wanted to take some boost readings today, so set off, only to realise that my MFA boost readings are permamently stuck at 254 (VDO instruments), no matter what rpm value I have, yes even at idle. Briefly checked all the vaccum hoses on a lay-by, couldn't see anything wrong, so unless you guys have a quick fix, that's another one for Stealth to look at. I have a sneaky suspicion that my bill with all these probs with Stealth might be more than the blasted car is worth, going at this rate   If anyone knows anyone who wants a US-spec Rado, I might consider, seriously, I am just sick and tired. At least the sunroof worked today  Tempest
  3. Now you tell us   Always wondered at the camping event we've been to  Tempest
  4. Just had word that indeed the VWoA (that's VW of America) bras as shown in my picture further above (that moron sticking his hand out of the window on the passenger seat - LHD Rado - is me BTW ) do come with a bumper cover, too. Just waiting for a price, if anyone's interested :-) Smell another group buy or what? Tempest
  5. The visit to Stealth is pretty much the last chance I'm giving my Rado. Depending on results we'll have to see. Anyway: Today I realised again, that my true heart more firmly lies with my "pure" Roccos. Shame, but they do cause me far less grief, are much easier to work on (which is half the fun for me of owning one) and give me a much bigger grin everytime I merely hear their engine. So folks, fingers crossed, that my Rado finally starts behaving itself at Stealth, or rather that Stealth find WTF is wrong with the blasted thing, after I've given up. Getting angry again, must stop, and go out for a ride in one of my Roccos - very therapeutical :D ... can't do, they're both on SORN now  Tempest
  6. I just bought a spare G-Lader to keep for future days ... Tempest
  7. They do, VWoA do a complete bra with the word Corrado stitched on the bra as well :-) Piccie only shows the bonnet part. Can get pricing info, if anyone's interested. Tempest
  8. A bit late perhaps, but I can confirm that the 2 sender units bewteen the old and new pump, as shown in Dinkus' original piccies on page 1, are totally different. The new pump has a sender unit that is indeed adjustable to calibrate it. But what was more annoying, where the wires from the lid to the old sender unit ran into the plastic casing of the unit onto some typical VW-only connectors, the new sender unit simply had spade-type connectors. So I had to cut  the original wiring from the lid, crimp and solder onto these suitabel spade connectors (which I thankfully still had flying about), and reconnect the lot. I would have thought that for 40 quid, some more user-friendly backward compatibility would have been provided by VW, like plug&play, but no. Glad you sorted it, Dinkus. Tempest

    Corrado

For the G60 there were in principle 2 ECUs: One with a B-ending, and one with a DP-ending. The latter was said to be a wee bit quicker, due to the slightly faster components used inside, but this was negligible in terms of bhp-increases. It eventually all boils down to the chip you're running. A/C-pin: If this isn't wired through, then the idle speed won't be adjusted whenever the A/C is switched on, as the A/C pin passes to the ECU a signal from the A/C switch in the mid console control. This again will only work, if the chip has a suitable setting, i.e. is A/C aware. So in terms of answering your question: Yes, you can run almost any ECU, as long as the chip is suitable for the set-up. I even ran a CR-ending ECU, but with Zoran's chip, no problem. Tempest
  10. Good enough? BTW: Trainspotters amongst you will ntocie the Mk1 Scirocco characteristic "ducks tail" rear spoiler, as well as the C-pillar and a few otherd esign aspects that were all first introduced on the Mk1 Rocco. Hence it does NOT look like a Rado (as Rados themselves despite VWs numerous denials are styled after the original Mk1 Rocco), but more like a Mk1 Rocco. Tempest Edit: pic thumbnailed ;) - dinkus
  11. Haven't heard anything that they would do anything useful other than eat away ome money in your wallet. I have to admit I have tried them 2x, because they were on special offer 2 quid for a bottle rather than 4-5 quid, but can't say I noticed anything. Tempest
  12. That link has been going round on a few forums, but it's not the one I'm referring to. My sources are straight from Germany :-) Tempest
  13. Yup  Still can't believe the aspect of bein illegal when running a private plate, as at the moment the DVLA are still making shedloads of money out of selling these private plates. What is the main reason? Well, because people want to display these plates on their cars whilst driving them. If this all of a sudden became illegal, then who would still want to buy such a plate? Far fewer people than now. That means severe loss of income for the DVLA. Tempest
  14. Neither can I, as a) i have one on my Mk1 Rocco and not giving it back  b) the DVLA themselves are making shedloads of money with auctioning off private plates, which they started doing 3 years ago, probably their main cash-cow Tempest
  15. Yeah, was thinkling that, too, and a little bit regret not having chosen that option, but driving down to G-Werks costs me in petrol what I'm going to pay Stealth anyway for 1 hours work  I did offer to take the Rado several times ;-). But yeah, the boring bland aspect of modern cars I know too well from my business colleague's Focus TDI  Now that did make me smile, with certain pictures on a certain thread springing to mind  On the other hand, my Rado's had far more attention this year than both my Roccos added together  Tempest

    rs outlet

Fit RS-outlet kit: Remove hose from black silencer box on Lader outlet. Remove the black silencer box (this is tricky, as its held to the Lader with one screw right in the centre of the box, which is soooo well accessible... NOT!. Ultimately I split mine in 2 parts so I could more easily get to that centre-screw, as I wasn't planning on keeping that horrid box anyway  Remove box, attach the RS-outlet piece (through the aforementioned centre screw), then the blue Samco-hose (at least that's what I go in my kit from SLS in Germany), then the straight through metal pipe (reducer), to which you then re-attach the original hose removed in the first step. The kit should also include suitable jubilee clips to attach the Samco hose to the RS-outlet and reducer pipe. As I'm at work at the moment, I can't take a picture, as that would clarify things. 17. Well, after having spent so much time and money trying to solve 2 little problems on my Rado (slight stuttering at cold start, squeal sound), yesterday's RR day at Stealth introduced a 3rd one, my Rado's down on performance despite the excellent weather conditions for the G60 engine. Well cheesed off, I have decided to do the inevitable, spend £100 + VAT on getting Stealth to look at the damn thing for up to 2 hours. Some folks over in Germany seem to suggest it's a boost problem, as both my bhp and torque values are down from normal (albeit by only 2 and 7% respectively, but measured at much higher engine rpm-values than is normal), but after a chat with Darren, he's convinced it's a fuelling problem, after having carefully rebuilt my charger just last November. Vince will hopefully get to the bottom of the crappy running issues, the start-up issue and the annoying squeal, although that's 100 quid that I wanted to have spent elswehere, but alas I'm at wit's end, tried everything, last step before selling (never gonna get the 100 quid back, of course, but there you go). Spent far too much money on the bl**dy thing, and my Roccos are starting to suffer (where my true love lies) Come on then guys, cheer me up, make me feel good about all this ... ;-) Tempest
  18. Sciroccos are simply the nuts, I agree :-) Still, too heavy an engine for the Rocco. Tempest
  19. Some more news on this one: 90% likely that it's going to be called a Mk3 Rocco ... It's going to be built in Wolfsburg, NOT by Karmann in Osnabrück  That's it then for me, that isn't a Rocco or a Rado :-( Engine power: 140-280 bhp (the latter suggesting VR6 territory, i.e. heavy engine in probably heavy car :-( What happened to the 800 kg with a nice juicy roaring 100 bhp engine in the original Mk1 Rocco? That one probably has more bhp per kg than the new one ). More stuff in this thread (scroll down to the article copied from the Auto-Bild, yes the same peeps that goofed up with the recent Merc S-Class with assisted fog braking crash test ): http://forum.rowi.net/read.php?f=2&i=105345&t=105345 Tempest
  20. Must have been fortunate then, as I lived in St Catherines, just around the corner from Toronno (notice the pronunciation  and yes, I used to talk like that, too, when I came back to Germany ) but then again, the summers more then made up for the harsh winters :-) Tempest
  21. You might be right, but it was Merc who agreed to these testing conditions, yes even suggested them  Tempest
  22. Yes, too right, as I have spent 4 years of my childhood in the States and Canada, with overnight temperatures as low as -20°C, now that's what I call cold  Snow starts in November and stays till March, well at least where I lived. Inbetween we had crystal clear skies and sunshine, not the mild and rainy/drizzly EU-stuff  Tempest
  23. Same here, M25 twice on my to and from Canterbury (customer). I was in our company trustworthy (and now very filthy) Escort delivery van. Might have been the same gritter  Ah come on, I've even given you subtitling! What more do you want ? The main reporter/presenter, Günter jauch, is normally a lot more critical. i reckon they've already had some stick from Merc, who in turn are realy trying hard to defend this major cock-up. One guy on the German Sciroccoforum actually works for a plastics manufacturer, who've delivered parts for this system to Hella (yes the lights people), who've made the system, and Bosch has written the software (well, that's where it all went pear-shaped, probably running Windows ). He said that the system was still far from error-free, and yet Merc decided to present it to the press. The test driver BTW has been sacked by the publisher he worked for (Auto-Bild, part of the Axel Springer group, most famous for their "The Sun"-comparable gutterpress rag "Bild", and also publisher of a big UK car magazine, forgot which one now ). Tempest
  24. Personally I don't rate any of that electronic stuff, that crops up in larger quantities in modern cars, ESP (and I always thought that stood for Extra Sensory Powers, probably does, too ), ABS, bla, etc. Oh yes, forgot to post the link to the actual video/programme showing this Merc being crashed (unintentionally, of course ) http://www.stern.de/tv/sterntv/549835.html?nv=sb Tempest
  25. Just watching a TV-programm via the Internet, where on RTL Mercedes has had a test of their new Merc S-Class, which now featuires safety features to avoid shunts in dense fog, using radar and several other sensors. The thing was tested inside a hall with artificial very dense fog, where the TV-makers had a hidden microphone inside the Merc. The shunt-avoid-system should beep 3 times as soon as the Merc approaches a traffic jam in dense fog on say a motorway. On the programme one could hear how prior to the crash (yes they ruined an S-Class !!) NO beep signals appeared, and after the crash the test driver was swearing his head off. Merc's statement: Wrong environment, should have been tesetd on a real motorway with real fog!!!!! Tempest
