  1. Herad that they are less efficient than the trusty G-Lader, hence why Merc drivers (with Eatoin Kompressors) always get a slating from the Corrado-fraternity over in Germany  Tempest
  2. You need a sensor with 3 wires (2 white wires for the heater circuitry, one black wire for the actual signal), this plugs into a 4-pin connector: 1. white - red/white 2. white - brown 3. brown (connected to chassis bracket) - black , NB: the brown wire stick out from the connector at the sensor end, but doesn't actually lead to the probe, just connects to the bracket, to which the connectors are attached, as it's only a GND-shield 4. black - violet HTH, Tempest
  3. Got my Lambdaprobe back in February for approx. 20 quid from someone over in Germany, used, and for a Mk3 Golf (I think), but that doesn't matter, as long as it's the heated variety and hasn't done too many miles. In the meantime you can safely drive around with your existing probe disconnected, the ECU then assumes a Lambdavalue = 1. Tempest
  4. Good day out it was, despite the little hic-up getting there  , but JimsG60 and I got there in the end. Nice to see a large turn up of CCGB folk (and meet some familiar faces again), as the Club GTI lot only had their Derby Region turn up (and there was me expecting the whole of Club GTI to turn up to what was supposed to be their National Day after all  ), so we made up for their lack of numbers  Even the weather was reasonable. My US-G60 very firmly reminded me on leaving that it's starter motor solenoid is definitely sh**ed and needs replacing, a job I've been putting off for long enough, so on arrival back in sunny Coventry  , I finally bit the bullet and took the darn thing out (not an easy task on a US-G60, as Ian aka Henny now has seen as well, Motto:"Can you see the starter motor at all looking inside the engine bay?" Surprisingly enough you can see it from underneath the car  ) and replaced it with a used unit from my local scrappie - works a treat, well chuffed, no more screeching sounds of cogs trying to engage. Not a bad day then, even managed to do something productive  Just didn't take any pics  Tempest

    CV boot split

Not too sure myself  , but if it's anything like on Sciroccos, you're better off taking the whole driveshaft out, stick the thing in a vice, then hammer off the outer CV joint (or is there even a little circlip holding the joint onto the shaft like with Roccos?). That way you won't damage the inner CV joint or even the gearbox itself (when it's still attached at that end). Tempest

    vw badge

Lots of toothpaste will get the chrome off the badge leaving a black badge, seriously, it works! Tempest
  7. I had noticed that too from my German Motorclub mag, that Aral (as BP own Aral in Germany) have started selling Ultimate, again 100 octane, confusing, given that we still only get 97 octane Ultimate. It's marginally cheaper than V-Power in Germany, and is to replace their 98 octane Super Unleaded. I thought that V-Power generally was 100 octane :?: Almost seems that every country in the EU is redefining the RON standard  Tempest
  8. Hmm, yes, if I am to leave my Rado sitting on a high street I would definitely want to see it, before some moron touches it, hits it (lots of bad drivers around, especially on high streets  ), personally prefer car parks, ... I know even there you seem to get morons. That's the advantage of the Saxon Mill, it seems to attract more expensive cars, where one could hope that the owners also take care of their cars ... Sorry, but this is totally OT  Tempest
  9. Noooooo, people, let's be happy, have some dope or something, and just be pleased with what we're driving. The TRUE enemies are the Goofs, Rice-Cookers and other inferior cars (brands). We're driving a Rado after all, whatever version, it's a Rado :D Tempest
  10. Fairly happy with my AC on my US-LHD Rado as well, had the system recharged back in April with RG24 (replacement for the now illegal R12 refrigerant), but not done any temperature measurements yet. It did require me to sort out my ISV, though, as the extra load caused the engine to stall when declutching  Tempest
  11. Tec (Pforzheim, Germany) was taken over by Digi-Tec, according to my German Radoforum folk. Digi-Tec are more into chip-tuning, although the former Tec boss seems to work there as well. Their experience with Tec G-Lader overhauls is FAR from good, as can be read (in German) here. Would be good to know if BRM still do rebuilds and how etc., as distance Coventry-Leamington Spa is tempting for another Coventry Rado G60 owner ... Tempest
  12. You wouldn't happen to know who that might be? SLS Tuning, for example? Nearly had the entire charger out last night as I was fitting my RS outlet kit from SLS Tuning :) A couple of well-placed swear-words and that horrid plastic silencer was finally out, anyone need one? Tempest
  13. No benefits whatsoever, I'm afraid. Sound, yes, but ask JimsG60 how it did his head in, enough reason to stick the reso-thingy back in again. Without that hose it has been reported that you actually lose bottom-end torque and fuel economy goes down as well. It's in there for a reason  Tempest
  14. Should be location 12, bottom row, the right-most slot on the fuse box. What number is stamped on the relay? Could it be that you've got a relay for the G60 or something? Tempest
  15. Erm nope, they've had V-Power for quite some time, as indeed pretty much everyone else on the continent, supposed to be 100 octane. The Rado-gang in Germany rate it very well, especially as some mates of mine are running special chips on their G60s Tempest
  16. The Mk1 Rocco was based on the Asso di Piche design study by Giugiaro (what later became Italdesign, who have also done loads of other interesting and less interesting cars, eg. the DeLorean as a good example of an interesting car :D ), who then was hired in by VW to design what is now known as the Mk1 Rocco and Mk1 Golf. In 1976 he then designed the Asso di Quadri (for BMW), upon which the Mk2 Rocco was loosely based (an in-house job by VW, although inspired by the Assi di Quadro, it was actually handed back to ItalDesign for mods before VW then finalised the design; this despite having asked ItalDesign to design the Mk2 Rocco and having rejected their original design - it still looked too much like the Mk1 Rocco but did address 2 design problems of the original Mk1: Headroom and boot space). The Corrado was a complete in-house job at VW, led by Herbert Schäfer, and there are pictures proving that in fact it was to be a Mk3 Rocco(badge on rear saying Scirocco), until the production costs soared and the marketing boffins decided that the price difference to the Mk2 Rocco was going to be too big, and hence it would be a better idea to launch it as a completely new vehicle alongside the Mk2 Rocco with a new name. Then again, VW always wanted to make a "true" sports coupe, and after having pulled out of the Porsche 924 project in the 70s ... Of course, Schäfer will always deny the similarity between the Mk1 Rocco and the Rado (even though the C-pillar is soooo identical) ... Tempest (Mk1 Roccos rule all the way ... )
  17. Yup, depends on whether you've got airco or not: Airco: 6PK1510 up to 6PK1530 without airco: 6PK1235 up to PK1260 Last 4 digits are the length of the belt, whatever you can get hold of. HTH, Tempest
  18. Yup, that's the correct one. The 2032 is for the 16V engine. Tempest mod edit-deleted yer double post-vr6storm
  19. You can nicely get a complete Temperature vs. Ohm graph by just bringing a pan of water to the boil whilst reading the temperature and resistanxce off the blue temperature sensor. The resistance continuously drops (exponentially) with rising temperature, starting with in the region of 7 to 8K, dropping to a few 100 Ohms. The plot I got exactly matched the one shown in the Bentley manual 8) Tempest
  20. Yup, speeding.co.uk is where I get my Maguiars stuff from. Their black trim detailer is ace as well, particlualry like their Quick Detailer, excellent for shows to remove minor dirt traces after the journey to the show. Tried Elliots (Gulson Road) yet? They do some of Maguiars stuff. Tempest
  21. Nooooooo, the 3 letters are my initials  Everton FC, who are they? Tempest
  22. Having read through all the DVLA bumpf back when I was importing my Mk1 Rocco from D to GB, I can only say, no, the German style plates are strictly speaking not legal when the car's registered in this country. The fact that coppers haven't pulled you over might have been to do with them being fooled so well that they thought you were in a German registered car. But IF they DO pull you over and it turns out that the car's registered in the UK then I can foresee trouble, not to mention that your insurance might use the use of non-road legal plates for not having to pay when you get involved in an accident. I decided to go legal on my Mk1, then again I wanted a cherished plate anyway  Tempest
  23. Yup, just filled up my Rado with BP Ultimate in Coventry, 88.9p  Tempest
  24. My Mk1 Rocco has just been cover car in the May issue of VWm mag, now sold out ... Pics of the Mk1 have also appeared in Lax Power  I feel ashamed :D Work now has started on the Storm Rocco and the US-G60 Rado. Tempest
  25. Just been told by a mate over in Austria, that every petrol station sells 100 octane fuel over there, not just Shell. And it's dirt cheap at 1.05 Euro / Liter (approx. 67p / Liter  ). The Netherlands now have V-Power as well, as my Roccomate (with whom I went to Roadstar 2004) filled up with the stuff just before boarding the ferry. He had MAF probs on his 20V turbo engine tho', so couldn't comment on the stuff :( Tempest
