  1. You can use the front mount off a Mk2 Golf GTI. I went for an aftermarket mount by Vibratechnics for a Mk2 Golf GTI on my US-G60. Not sure about the tranny mount, as I simply used VW's original part when I replaced my mounts. Tempest

    fuel pump g60

Mk1 with a G60? :D :D That should see the competition off nicely  It sounds as if you've got an aftermarket FPR, as I've just collected a new one from my stealer, oem VW, there is no nut on the front. In that case it may be worth having another go adjusting that nut, or alternatively, try an oem unit, if you can find someone kind enough to lend you one  Tempest
  3. Yup, the blue temp sensor feeds the ECU, has a negative temperature coefficient, i.e. with increasing temperature, it reduces its resistance. I have written down some characteristic values in one thread here some time ago, can't remember where, tho'. My tables and plots are, of course all at home  Tempest

    fuel pump g60

Hi and welcome on-board ! Good to see another Rocco-owner, and then even one with a nice G60 under the bonnet. You'll have an advantage straight away over all the Rado G60 types here in that your Skyrocket is so much lighter :D What fuel pump has been fitted to your Rocco? I'd do a pressure test on the fuel feed line (should be 4 bar) or check the fuel delivery rate (run fuel pump without engine, after 30 seconds you should have approx. 600 cm^3 depending on the fuel pump voltage), although it might be a wise idea to just swap the FPR (fuel pressure regulator, assuming you've got the standard 3 bar unit, you can't regulate the pressure with that one), check the hose between the FPR and the intake manifold (no cracks?). Good luck, and how about some piccies of your Rocco ? 8) Tempest

    purge fuel tank

Yup, the rusty fuel filler neck problem. Otherwise excellent cars those Roccos, said he who has 2  At least no door handle problems  Tempest
  6. Only use my Toyos (on the Mk2 Storm Rocco) in the dry, so can't comment on the performance in the wet  But I do love them in the dry. Tempest
  7. And you have easy access to the upper bolt without removal of the radiator fan? Anyway, I did it just about 3 weeks ago or so pretty much as described in the 1st post, just never got round to a write-up, or even piccies, didn't have the digicam with me, especially not in the dark, as I did this with a torch after work, when it was already dark  . And yes, can recommend the VT front mount, try Stealth, mention CCGB membership, beg a little, and voila, 10 Quid off :D The rear engine mount is a doddle by comparison, the gearbox mount should also be simple on UK cars, as there are far fewer gubbins immediately above the mount than on my LHD US-spec Rado, where it was a right pain  Tempest
  8. I had a brief look at all the UK insurers a few years back, and pretty much all of them at their most basci/entry level support only provide UK support. You'd have to pay extra for pan-EU support, can be up to £110 / year, and then that's still only for up to 3 months per year or something (unless that's all changed in the meantime). That's when I decided to join the ADAC instead. I already had to call them out once when the exhaust fell off my Polo (erm, yes ...), and they simply sent in the AA with whom they have partnership deals. Didn't cost me anything. The ADAC price includes things like homecover, tow-to-home or even hotel costs (mate of mine once made use of that whilst travelling though France, again he's German but lives in the UK) etc. all of which costs extra on most UK companies. Tempest
  9. German ADAC is what I say, 70 Euros for pan-EU cover, beat that. Tempest
  10. Same here, I'm afraid, I almost don't buy that rag out of principle  The Goof+ at least has some techie articles in it which are sometimes handy to have. Then again, I hardly buy any of them unless there's a Mk1 Rocco in 'm  Tempest

Yup, post office do reasonable rates on the currency exchange, at least no commission to pay. Tempest
  12. Definitely take the oil filter off, well if you've got airco anyway, as the piping etc. just sits in the way, and you need the extra space by removing the oil filtyer to twist and turn both the old mount on removal as well as the new mount on fitting it. Even withoug airco piping, the cooling piping might still get in to way. Taking off the oil filter ain't that big a job  It took me about 60 minutes taking it easy, that's including jacking up the Rado, jacking up the engine to clear the mount, taking out the fan, oil filter removal and fitting. A wee bit of swearing getting the new mount to fit and the fan out (as everything just is in the way  ), but OK, it worked. Tempest
  13. Correct, Mk2 mount, as supplied to me by Stealth Racing, same size as the VW oem one, just a wee bit less clearance to my Airco piping that runs immediately in front of the mount  , but it neverthess fitted, sort of; the joys of airco  Stealth is even willing to give discounts on mentioning CCGB membership :D Good man! 8) Tempest

No problem, hope you'll get your lights soon. And then I read somewhere in a German rag that inter-EU bank transfers are supposedly free of charge. Quizzing my UK bank on the issue I was told that the fees raised by UK banks are to cover the exchange rate, as the UK haven't got the Euro yet ... any old excuse  Tempest
  15. Nice one you 2, that's one issue of PVW well worth buying then  Tempest
  16. Note the knee(crusher) bars, hence it must be a US-spec Rado  Still doesn't explain the choice of seat covers  Exactly my concern as well, but alas that's the way it's already going with Rado prices now becoming affordable to the average boy-racer, just look through some of the VW rags and some of the feature cars. The rags tend to mostly go for spoilered up, sometimes 1000s of pounds spent on cars etc. to draw in a certain crowd, often the boy-racers. That's where the loop closes again. Just my 2 pence, Tempest
  17. I suppose that the case with all insurance companies when they want YOUR money, friendly as heck, but when you want THEIR money, that's when a lot of them start to fall by the wayside. I can only speak for HIC, as they ultimately after a lot of chasing (as you've got to do that with them, phone, write the lot basically, constantly hassling them, untill they just want to get rid of you with what you wanted in the first place) gave me what I wanted, so quite happy with them in terms of settlements. Tempest
  18. Pah, chuck in a few US-spec toys (airco etc.) and now it really looks crowded under the bonnet, where is the ground? Tempest
  19. At least the Crossfire is another Karmann built car :D Been there, seen the assembly lines and marvelled at the bad design that even our tourguide openly admitted to (i.e. the whole front crossbar is welded, and hence everything needs to be fitted from behind as opposed to the Merc they build on the line next to it, where everything just slides in from the front, pop the bumper assembly on, and job done), just a wee little bit painful when one of us asked who'd designed the Crossfire ... erm, it was Karmann  Tempest
  20. Erm, you could have chosen a different topic, as this one gets the emotions flying pretty high. It isn't  Tempest

Yup, you beckoned? Mio come to the rescue, waddaya wanna know? Erm, how much are you paying for these lights, are they InPros? Tempest
  22. Just joined them as of 1st of October, still waiting for my permament insurance certificate to come through, only have the temporary one so far. They were the cheapest for the Rado. Tempest
  23. Traitor is what I say, leaving the G60 camp for a VR6  Seriously, if you're not attached to your current G60, and she's already putting some effort into selling her VR6 (i.e. willing to bring it up to Stealth etc.), you might just be onto a winner. Don't forget the timing chain, but then again Vince would advise on that. Plug back in that snorkel, mate :D Otherwise, yup, you old man, so much talk of refined blabla. Well, I suppose that's exactly what I use my US-G60 for, compared to my 2 fun cars, the 2 Roccos, it's pure refinement with all the US gadgets on board as well. Good luck with your decision. Tempest
  24. RX8? Commoners car then with those numbers rolling off the assembly line  Me? I'd rather drive something exclusive, i.e. rare :D , a Rado for example. Tempest
