  1. Nope, a car park for the disabled (see logo bottom right hand corner on tarmac), disabled in terms of modding Rados  Tempest
  2. That's good! Mine's white, makes it rare  . Same percentage so far as the allegedly rare nugget yellow :D Yes, I have ticked white and not some other colour  Tempest

    G Charger

Mate of mine will test his "brand-new" charger this winter, as he told me that it's very difficult to detect the fact that such a new charger is actually 2nd choice. You would need specialist measuring equipment to determine that certain parts inside aren't within the VW-specified tolerances. So, dropping it into his engine bay and doing some boost tests will now be in order ... Tempest
  4. Yup, Stealth Racing do 'm, got my front mount for the G60 (same as for a Golf Mk2, it's a rubber/metal mount as opposed to the oem jelly pudding aka hydro-mount affair  ), normally costs £141 inc VAT, but mentioning CCGB membership I got the postage free of charge, otherwise Vince would have knocked off a tenner or so, if I had collected it. Fitted it, can't comment on a new VT compared to new oem one, but I can say it made a huge difference compared to a sh***ed front oem mount  Tempest
  5. Yeah, got mine yesterday 8) , and yes, was struggling on the caption competition (a feature that no doubt has instantly taken off as a success  ), given Munyard's torso appearing on the reflection. Tempest
  6. White is what I say, fits the bill for me as most common colour (I see mine every day  ), and not-so-common (don't want to use the term rarest  ) colour, as so far I have only seen one other white Rado, a 16V, in the UK. Tempest

    G Charger

Latest scam in Germany (causing all sorts of discussions) are so-called brand-new chargers, coming from the company that originally built them for VW, but rumours have it that they are 2nd choice chargers, i.e. ones that should have been scrapped, as they didn't meet VW quality standards. These chargers are often found on German ebay. The only true chargers come from VW, are then purchased by companies such as SLS or similar in the UK (all the usual well-known folk here :D ), who then sell them to the public. Anything else sold as new is suspicious, at least untill the above issue has been resolved. I am still waiting for some victims of having bought these brand-new chargers (for admittedly attractive prices of around the 900 or less Euros  ) to open their chargers, try them out etc. Tempest
  8. Well, 2 Roccos turned up, mine and another sweet looking Mk2. Other than that the show was a wee bit diappointing compared to last year's event, at least for outright Veedub fans, as this year the show had one hall full of Fords (one Orion even had a fake aquarium in the boot  ), another hall full of rice-cookers (loads of Fast & Furious suspects), outside terrain was full of, erm, Fords and rice cookers, and oh yes a few Pugs, 2 Audis, and 2 Roccos. The Roccos decided to call it a day before the weather turned sour, made it home again dry with the Mk1 :D There were loads of visitors, though, quite a few looking at my Rocco :D No Rados, though, not a single one  For design enthusiasts, there were 2 Isuzu Piazzas (designed by Ital Design, same company who designed the Mk1 Rocco, the 3 Asso's and the DeLorean) and a Lancia Delta Integrale (again Ital Design). Tempest
  9. Yeah, i read that bit. Picking your nose ... in a RADO????  Tempest
  10. Could agree on the generic T-shirt as well. Oherwise the 16Valver brigade have been left out. So, yup, would be interested in either a generic Rado T-shirt or a G60-specific one (preferring the latter  ). Don't worry :D , I do like your Morris Minor comparison though, although there'll probably be folks out there, that would say the Morris is better then a VR6 or something  Tempest

    Milltec backfire

I was just going to mention Powerflow, because if you want popping/rasping and all sorts, almost nothing beats a nicely set up Powerflow system (as witnessed on my Storm Rocco  ). Tempest
  12. Of course, how could I be so stupid, as to assume that this thread would stay free of comments made by VR6ers :agrue:  , who don't know the ingenuity that is our beloved G-Lader, a piece of historical engineering dating back way before the VR6 was even dreamed up  OK, back to topic  : Yes, would be interested in one of those shirts as well. Oh yes, nice Rados from the Rieger catalogue there  Tempest
  13. Given that the weather forecast is going to be off-putting to quite a few (very wet and windy), I personally wouldn't drive several hours. If the weather were going to be like at last year's show, nice, warm and sunny, then I'd reconsider, as it did have quite a few interesting clubs, variety of cars (not just Vdubs), traders, and just generally was a pleasant day out. Heck, I do drive all the way down to London Volksfest as well for the day, but that's usually got excellent weather, when I particularly enjoy the driving to and from the show bit in my Mk1 Rocco :D Tempest
  14. Erm, well forget about the Spaniel show, it's the other one  Last year had quite a few VDubs, even quite a few of them were Rados (almost all of them bar 2 Sciroccos and a Golf or 2) Tempest
  15. That's not the problem, the problem is getting it to the show ground, as it won't fit into my Mk1  It's one of those telescopic extracting folding type gazebos, not the assemble-by-numbers- type (which would've taken up far less space  ). Tempest
  16. Yes, this event was supposed to be the last official outing for my Mk1 Rocco this season, but looking at the weather forecast ... dire, dire   As I'm hosting a club stand, I'll have to take the Mk1, leave it outside in the rain (so even cleaning will be of no avail  ). Why oh why does the weather always change when there are shows on, whereas during the week, when I'm stuck on the treadmill, the sun dares come out ? I'm just hoping that the Metoffice have got it all wrong for Sunday. Anyone else coming up to this event? Was rather good last year, also because we had ace weather last year. Tempest
  17. The usual executive rubbish at the TechnoCentre I'm afraid  , and no Rados ... Tempest

    Milltec backfire

Yup, my milltek does the same, quite like it. The good thing is that it only does it when revving the engine a bit harder, with normal "slouch" driving style, it doesn't pop, just sounds nice. Tempest
  19. Yes, it's been exactly 1 year ago, that I boarded some BA flight up to Aberdeen (return flight that is), to view a US-spec Rado on the Aberdeen airport car park plus test drive through the Scottish countryside, only to find myself parting with the cash, zooming off in my new Rado and leaving the slightly sad owner behind little than 2 hours later  Yes, I also immediately got caught by a speed camera still up in Scotland on the journey back home (what a journey that was :D ) Since then I don't know how much I've spent on the old Rado, not that I care, really, as it's been a lot of fun so far (touch wood). Originally the Rado was bought as a Rocco Parts Carrier and "daily driver", whereby the latter idea was trashed pretty much straight away, the "Rocco Parts Carrier" still being valid :) , only the parts getting smaller and smaller  Tempest
  20. Same here, only true Golf for me. Classic Italian Design (yup, same bloke who's done my all-time favourite, the Mk1 Rocco, Giugario). Mk2s are acceptable only if some extensive bodywork has been done to them, and from the Mk3 onwards VW has lost it all. of course, just my 2 Cents  Tempest
  21. In principle yes, but a few things like door handle and such like need to be removed first. A few things also now have wires attached  , but they should have connectors which you can undo. Tempest
  22. Hm, I thought the 60 or 40 referred to the height of the casing half  Then again, there is already another prototype, the G88, here  : Tempest
  23. Yeah, Jap mods on non-Jap cars seem to be all the rage these days. At Wyndon Motors in Coventry, a bodyshop that I always come past on my way into work, seem to have more and more cars like Rovers, Focuses with these stupid Jap-style decals all over them. Jap-style Focus anyone? Can take a piccie next time. They did have an 80s Transam (Knight Rider) out there today as well. Tempest
  24. Erm, I was not just thinking of you (but I'll let you off :D ), even my German mate Dirk's got an Audi now !!!!! What's the world coming to? And he likes its soft suspension, not feeling every pothole anymore. It's a 1990 2.3 Liter 5 cylinder Coupe in the usual red, plush inside interior with fake wood panelling, tiny zorst, nice alloys, superb build quality, silent sliding roof (wow, wouldn't know what one of those sounds like  ) Tempest
  25. Yes, that's a thought that occasionally crops in my admittedly sick mind, already having the 3 Karmann Typ53s (Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 aka Rado), so a Karmann Ghia would be like a Mk0, I suppose  Try http://www.sciroccoworld.org.uk, and the Rocco-section on No-Rice to start with for your Rocco queries, or indeed there's Campaign (Jeremy) and me on here who lurv our Roccos to bits :D Tempest
