Fk Clear and red rear lamps, how do i know they are genuine?
Bobby replied to oldirtybastard's topic in General Car Chat
easy way to check as chrishill said look on the drivers side lower red section if it doesn't say special edition they are not fk's. -
what exaclt wrong with the car mate, do you know that it is a engine fault for definite, as it maybe an electrical fault therefore changing the engine won't solve it. I find that the best is way is hands on, obviously this can't apply on everything, i've rebuilt complete heads and want to do a fully rebuilt 2.0l 16v for my car, with all the experience of all the members on this forum i'm sure if you get stuck at any point someone will be able to advise what to do.

does anyone know the best way to go about adjusting the rods that are attached to the gear linkage ona 1990 16v corrado as it seem that the gear lever doesn't seem to spring back central like it should, or is there a specific spring that returns the gear stick back to neutral, any ideas thanks :D

third wire is for illumination of the cig light bulb

so what did turbo technics use to lowers the compresion on the 16v conversion they did, different pistions, or the old thicker head gasket trick?
-
so won't this cause a problem when getting the exhaust manifold and downpipe to fit under the bulkhead? I'll ask matt with the yellow corrado that was in pvw, how he has got round this.

would a mk 2.0l 16v bottom end be an easy swap on a current kr 16v engine, was thinking of building up a spare lump as i have a port and polished 16v kr head, i know a 9a bottom end is pretty sraight foward, but findind a low mileage one is difficult where as a mk3 golf 16v botton end seem to have lower mileage. My set up is gonna be a mk3 2.0l bottom end , lightened flywheel with kr ported head and two exhaust cam, running the 42mm inlet and maybe afour branch manifold, oh and using the existing gearbox and running on the the k-jet still. Anybody done this before (mk3 bottom end), any ideas or advice is much appreciated, thanks bobby :D

nice trousers, only kidding. like the colour is that the audi rs2 blue smoked headlights look quality too.

dsp make some of the best fibreglass bumpers and side skirts available in my opinion, you got a bargain there mate, i would build it up with fibreglass rather than filler, need a pic to see what to suggest really. Use silkaflex to bond them, just did a mates reiger grille and the stuff dries up solid so make sure you get positioned spot on when you leave them to set.

i had the rh cup on my last corrado in the 16*7.5 and the had an et of 35 if i can remember correctly they looked good but a little bit to far in the arches for my taste, ,they would look great in the 16*9 et25ish with a polished lip, i know they are not a very fancy rim but in the right size, width and et you can get a very nice stance, but as said before its what you like that matters

i've had two corrado 16vs now and they both were fun to drive, its true that they are a bit slow below 4k revs, driven a g60 before which was a lot more reactive than the valvers and the sound is nice too, personally if you want to get somthing for everday then a 16v will do the job (parts are easier to come by and cheaper).Take your time when buying one don't rush out and get the first one you view, a lot of cars aren't set up bang (mixture , timing etc) on so they so may feel slow.i like the instant kick of the g60 but also the way the 16v kicks upper the rev range, two very different engines and power deliveries so hard to compare really.
-
changed all the pipes going to the airbox and also the metering unit aswell and set up the mixture a bit richer, did find one black wire that had was dangling loose had a black covering over a brown sleeve so assumed it was an earth so i grounded it and made the radiator fan come on!!!! will check all the vacuum hoses but i'm thinking that its either the master cyclinder for the brakes or the isv so will try a new isv first, mechanic said he will check the timing aswell.
-
ok thanks will have another look been advised to look for an air leakage, something does seem to make a hissing noise when the engine is turned off and sounds like its coming from the airbox area, anyone know if the microswitch is changable? checked my mates 16v corrado and when you press the microswitch in on that it doesn't do a lot but his car ticks over fine, what exactly does this switch do when its pressed? I'm thinking as the throttle cable is not being moved and the petrol flow is constant (as far as i know) the only other thing that can be making the eninge stick on high revs in too not enough air? Running out of ideas now _________________

sorry 2500 rpm, unfortunatley no jet engine in there.......yet
-
i cleaned out the isv and now the car fires up and idles at 25000 rpm, checked all the vacuum hoses and noticed one had broke off and replaced this, but still no joy. the idle screw is srewed fully in, what else could be doing this, blue temp sender where is this located and how can it be checked?
-
tried to start my corrado this morning and it fired up fine but when it came to idle on tickover the revs just kept dropping until the car stalled, after a quick adjustment of the idle screw the car ticks over nicley but a bit on the high side of 1000rpm, also i've realised that the revs rise when i press the brake pedal, even whilst driving?! i'm going to clean out the idle stabiliser valve tommrow with some petrol or redex carb cleaner, is there anything else i should check whilst i'm in there. the car is a 1990 corrado 1.8 kr 16v and seemed to be fine until today, but the brake and revs thing has been going on for some time, also if i leave the car idling after a run the revs start to fluctuate up and down  any help is much appreciated :D

just realised today that the front engine mount seems to be cracked on one side  (the bracket not the actual rubber part) is it easy to change the mount as it looks farly simple to do just looks a bit on the tight side to squeeze the new mount in, anybody got any tips and will it be ok to jack the engine from below to give more room to clear the subframe or does the engine need lifting from above? thanks Bobby :Dp.s the car is 1990 1.8 16v
-
checked the cable mate and it seems to be not turning at all, how easy are the cables to change? thanks bobby
-
my speedo seems to have stopped in my 1990 1.8 16v corrado i've checked the back of the clock and the cable is pugged firmly in theback of the clocks what else could it be?

Letterbox backbox needed, which ones best and where to buy?
Bobby replied to flusted's topic in Engine Bay
i had the scorpion one on my lsat corrado it wasn't the uspswept one but was good quality and sound quite deep too but not stupidly loud until you take it past 4000rpm. -
Does anyone know how easy it is to change the cables or if possible tighten up the cables a bit as one of the latches is not opening fully on one of my front seats, i know you can tie clip the iffy one open but i don't like the idea of that in case of a crash  . thanks Bobby :D
-
Bit off topic, but how long did it take you to do the converson and what model mk2 is it?
-

-
