Stonejag 10 Posted March 7, 2012 Bought my first ever corrado last week and got pulled the same night by 2 policemen having a good look around telling me its a great looking car and wondering if the spoiler worked!! perfect! Excellent, I'd still be a little nervous though...! Another one today, a colleague saw me getting in after work and said "Wow, that's a real blast from the past isn't it?" with a big grin :D
leeeeshad 0 Posted March 7, 2012 I had a guy stop next to me when I was queuing at a roundabout and ask if my car was for sale, and someone ask if it was a real one when I got out of it at a mate's (not sure why you'd have a fake corrado though). Jim 2 Posted March 7, 2012 It's weird - I simply NEVER get any interest in my Corrado from randomers these days. I used to get it a bit about 7-8 years ago, but these days no one bats an eyelid!
Tempest 0 Posted March 7, 2012 That´s Coventry for you. Not even a 928 gets noticed here. Suppose some stupid Peugeots get more attention, because the friggin things were made here, and hence brought food to many a Coventry household. Tempest
swiftkid 1 Posted March 7, 2012 Sort of a chufty... was round at local motor factors buying parts for my car. Guy on desk is finding me the parts on computer when a guy walks past, stops in his tracks and says "erm... is that what I think it is, a corrado", "Yep", "Ahh you must bring it round once you have finished it, absolutely amazing cars". Walked out of there with new bearings and a smile that even though my car isn't on the road I'm getting chufties!

Wullie 1 Posted March 14, 2012 CAme out of the supermarket today tto see two traffic cops looking round the car, on writing in a notebook. First thought, "Oh Sh*t, what's up now". This your car says the one with the notebook, tore the page from the book and handed me it. It said, "Nice car, always fancied one." Ended up talking for ten minutes including the obligatory spoiler demo to convince his mate that it went up and down. Told them about it biting the cyclist which they thought hilarious. lauraJ 0 Posted March 23, 2012 My car was parked on site today as a couple of the sales boys (ex vw sales man) were very complimentary about the VR. Was well chuffed considering they sell jags all day :)
Redfox 10 Posted March 23, 2012 While changing my Corrado's interrior today, a neighbour passed by and his eyes ran into water ;) Lacked words and all ;) The workers doing balkonies for the time, are "passing by" and usually comment it on a positive note. Most of them ask if it's a vr6. I answer. "what's a vr6?". Honestly I prefer the G60. Each to his or her own of course. If I take it on job (rare), I have a ford driving colleague, who seems to have to "take a fag" a lot more often. If I go look, he's steaming the Corrado's windows ;) Cheers, Redfox. Redfox 10 Posted March 27, 2012 A, got two yesterday. First one was when I drove to a specialist to have my suspension and wheels and steering set up spot on. He said, that it's a rare sight to see a nice Corrado, as most of the very few you see now adays, are built on, and built on, and then rebuilt to be something else. Like RS bumpers and sills, like most other brands also do exactly the same. He commented on the throaty G60 engine as well as he liked the solid pull ;) the other one was later, when I had the tires changed. The guy said: Now bring in here the smart red sportscar;) And then he said more or less the same thing like the previous guy ;) Hmmm. I wonder what my wife thinks of the Corrado?? Cheers, Redfox. Critical_Mass 10 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) Was filling up at the Shell garage end of last week. A guy approached me and asked if i was selling, i said afraid not... and that was that  no more chat just a straight question. He got into his 3 series BMW and off he went haha. Still made me smile Edited March 27, 2012 by Critical_Mass
CazzaVR 0 Posted April 14, 2012 Had a couple today- mechanic said he loved the car and really wanted one. He said it was much more special than another one that lives at the garage. Stopped for petrol and the forecourt cashier said it was lovely and asked loads of questions 8)
Portent 0 Posted April 26, 2012 I was washing the car tonight and my neighbour walks down the road. He's just sold his software business and has a number of very expensive cars so I didn't think he'd give the Corrado a second glance. But he stopped and started chatting about how he's had a couple of Golf VR6's in the past, has always loved Corrados and commented on how nice they looked. This is why I love the car. It's not about how much money is spent on it but so many people always liked them.
Redfox 10 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) I was getting close to home after a blast at the freeway to free up the new exhaust, and I planted the foot from a stoplight, but only in first gear, then relaxed in second. Then I felt something in my neck, and it was a policecar. They just asked me for a drivers license, and if it was my car, insurance etc, and then asked me if it was a audi quatro? No, I replied politely, it a Karmann Corrado G60. The officer then commented on how nice it looked, and very clean and polished and way too low for him to drive in ;) Then had a small talk about polishing cars and taking good care of them. He also asked why it had this nice humming sound from the engine, and I told him about the G-lader. He clearly did not know, and was positively surprised. They then looked at my all red rearlights, and said the car looked nice. I guess that is better than a fine for reckless driving? ;) Cheers, Redfox. fla 9 Posted May 28, 2012 went to have the car washed locally, was in between a merc a new range rover and a nice beamer, but the guys kept looking back at the Corrado and discussing it. 'You know this car?' i asked them. 'yes, its a Corrado' was the reply, 'good to see one that looks so nice...'
Wendy 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Was having my car washed by the local Albanian chaps the other day, when a guy infront of me - commented how he had owned a G60 Corrado in the early days of production. He regretted selling it, stating it was the best car he had ever owned. He seemed really p....d off with me when I said I had mine for the last 10 years. Think it was jealousy !!!! ;-)
guildmage 11 Posted May 31, 2012 Seeing my petrol gauge almost on red, I stopped at petrol station in order to fill up. When approached to pay, some guy appeared out of nowhere and asked what is this car I am driving? So a bit shocked I replied it's Volkswagen Corrado. He said it looks very nice and also said that he saw one of these on his neighbours driveway, but for last few years it's been stood there on bricks, slowly rotting away :( Then he asked is it fast? So, I replied politely it is fast enough for me. Finally he said it's a very nice car.. and one you can very rarely see on the road - I said very honest thank you, get back to my car and drove away. Could not get rid of stupid grin the whole way back to my house...
Redfox 10 Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) Last week I washed and cleaned, and while doing that, an elderly couple passed by, and they smiled and commented on how good it looks and that's certainly a nice and low car ;) ½ hour later the same happened with a lorry driver pasing by ;) Yesterday a family passed by while I was washing the Corrado again, and the father stopped, took a long look and then told his wife and two teenage daughters, that this is a special rare car and it's in a very nice condition indeed. Yesterday a neighbour told me, that a carpenter he knows who live close by, have asked him what car it is and how on Earth I keep it so flashing red? Well, maybe because it IS Flash Red ;) I'd better go waxing it again today;) Cheers, Redfox. Edited July 20, 2012 by Redfox

Billzeebub 1 Posted July 14, 2012 Neighbour two houses down was walking past whilst I was out cleaning the C yesterday. He waved as usual, but then shouted over that he was glad to see I was driving a Corrado again ( I have owned a BMW Convertible for the last 2 years). I cannot believe I spent so long away from Corrado ownership, but it's nice when somebody neutral ( he drives a Landcruiser Amazon!) validates my decision. goozie 0 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) Was parked up waiting to meet a young lady the other night, when 3 lads walked past the C all having a good look, i thought nothing of it as they dissapeared when out of know where one of the lads was standing at my window, so politly i lowered the window to the comment of nice car mate to which i kindly replied "thanks" and with his next breath he said is it for sale!! which my reply was not a chance to which he replied ok and then wandered off, But i think the biggest mark of repect for the C's was the other month when i was having my car washed at a local hand carwash, there was a lovely R8 parked infront of me, as i my car was being washed and his being dryed he turned to me and said nice looking corrado, is it the storm edition? to which i replied yes and then the conversation really got going, but i won't bore you with all that lol but his parting comment was bet you enjoy your car as much as i do mine! to which i replied i do and probably more as they are not as common with a big smile.
