Dutch 24v - Spring clean

Recommended Posts

I don't want to risk it mate. French customs will undoubtedly pull my car apart again if I drive, so I'm limited to flying really :(

A quick update. I've fancied a set of these rims for ages and have just picked a set up of a friend for a very nice price. 17*8 BBS rkii's with new p-zero's fitted.

They look fantastic on a dark C imo. I might lower it a couple of cm's further, but really like how she looks now:

All i did was replace the wheels for those photo's too, no washing or cleaning what-so-ever.

I was amazed at the difference a decent set of wheels can make on their own, as you say night and day :)

lol Stanley, I will get some engine bay shots up soon mate.

She's going for a full re-spray in January so she's not 100% finished yet. I'm going for Audi Diamond black, which has just a hint of metallic in so is a really deep dark Black. I have new roof runners/rubbers, door seals, aerial, wipers, door plates etc as well so hopefully she'll be looking as good as she drives soon 8)

Wheels look cool dude :) Nice choice.

And an update on the comment below - sailed through in the Alfa last weekend and the cheese-eating surrender monkey french customs didn't bat an eyelid (luckily! ;) )

Oh yes, I completely forgot about that little incident you had with the frog filth :)

Cheers mate.

Glad to hear you made it back in the Alfa without any dismantling problems.

I would have thought it was the driver that made them suspicious before, but obviously not :D

To be fair, I think it may have been the thick clouds of skunk smoke that made them suspicious last time mate!! :)

All good now though

Having finished the engine she's now in for a full re-spray. She should be ready in a couple of weeks.

Everything being removed will be replaced with new items, so it's getting costly. The rubbers from the doors, boot, bonnet, windows etc. come to over 500 Euros on their own

I'm going to replace all the lights, the aerial, all rubbers, the number plate surround, the mirrors, the door handles etc etc. and the last 3 items will be sprayed too.

She's standard black at the moment, but will be sporting Audi Diamond Black when finished. I can't wait :)

Love the thread buddy! Always good to see some in progress pics on a project car.

I just have to ask though... was there a reason to the black intake manifold?

Thanks mate. More to follow and a complete write-up when she's finished :)

The manifold was Mr Coxylaads work (from whom I purchased the engine)

I like it as it goes with the car. I might even get that done in Diamond Black too 8) :)

Are you not having the rear quarter windows removed?

I agree with Walesey, one of my all time fav Corrado's too :afro:

Thanks guys.

The rear quarters will be removed, but this has to be done by a specialist. He's booked for Saturday :)

The rear hatch will be removed too, but apparently it's a b*tch to line up properly when re-fitting?

Ah right cool. I had heard it was a complete mare of a job, and most resprays don't involve removing them!

Yep, they're very dificult to remove without causing any damage apparently.

I was lucky as my front windscreen was cracked anyway so hence my insurance is paying for an OE C windscreen to be fitted by a VAG specialist fitter. I'm paying him a little extra to remove and re-fit the rear quaters and the rear screen ;)

Hi Dutch, great thread, loving your work! I'm going to be fitting a 24v lump this weekend all being well, picked up some useful tips reading through your thread.

Have you got the car back now? Be good to see some pics. Did you ever manage to get the diagnostics working?

Cheers,
