give it a couple of months for the car prices to go up and you'll get your money - Daves Vr is lying on the drive waiting on the bodywork getting done, the sad fact is that we'd rather get shot as she is and loose money than spend the time/cash sorting it...

Having been Corradoless now for a while it aint that bad - my £350 Audi 80 has cost me exactly nothing in maintenance, is as solid as a rock and still makes a nice noise! I see Corrados almost everyday and instantly think oooh!! but in reality I am glad not to have one now, i had forgotten how carefree motoring could be!!!

at the end of the day you can always come back - we will, its just not the right time for us to have a rado, I'll be glad when the Vr is gone (and I never, ever thought i'd say that.....) although I will have to drive her one last time before she goes.... :(

you've just got that S.A.D. (seaonal affected disorder) get yourself some sun on your back & come back refreshed & ready to get stuck into the niggly problems! you could probably get them all sorted in a weekend! not like you can do much in this weather anyway apart from sit in the pub!

i had exactly the same dilemna 6 weeks ago, i hate it when things don't work as they should & it boils my pxss when they don't! justs eats away at me till i get them fixed bit once its done i'm a happy teddy again! mine was running like a bag of shxt & i knew the clutch was shot & i was thinking i may as well get the chains done at the same time but didn't know if it was worth it coz i just wanted shot of the car! so i thought i'd get them done anyway (always a good selling point) & while the car was in the garage i got it serviced new front discs & pads & they even fixed things that i hadn't realised were wrong! anyway, got the car back & instantly i knew i couldn't sell it! she's now running like a dream apart from my neighbour just put a dent in the passenger door with his! got the car booked into the paint shop for stonechips anyway so i'll just get the door done at the same time. meanwhile im going to rip my neighbours head off tonight & take a dump in his neck!

just takes a bit of motivation to start one job then once you've fixed something it spurs you on to fix everything else! as you know there's a plethora of knowledge on here so someone will always know what certain problems are!

soz for rambling on but you'll truly regret selling your c & there's no gaurantees that a newer car wont have similar teething problems!

found that quite therapuetic!

Thing is Trig it is only the little poxy jobs that are pi$$ing you off - you have said so yourself.

As such I would not recommend getting rid of the C, do what Walesy suggested, take it off the road and get something you don't care about as much.

You have spent some serious time and effort getting a car to a point where you where happy with it, at least hold on to spring and take it out for a good blat before you consider getting rid.

(I find I enjoy my C more when I have been driving the Golf or 'rocco for a while)

Hi Trig..

Think I can speak with some authority on this having been in that situation twice before, and regretting every time afterwards.

Easy way to tell if its a bad idea to sell the car is: If you really love the car when it all works, you like being part of the community around it, and can't really think of many other cars for the same sort of money that you'd own then DON'T sell. You will seriously regret it. Take the advice of all the others on this thread and just buy a heap to get you around in whilst you get the Rado all sorted out.

I know it seems difficult as when bits are falling off and its starting to pee you off, I know the only thing you wanna do is sell it.. but when you stand back and look at how much was actually wrong with it, you realise it wasn't that bad. Trust me.. you'll only regret it 6 months on if you get rid of a Rado as nice as that.

HTH.

I'm going to break my blue one and sell everything I can.

Then I'm going to get a 9 inch grinder, a sledgehammer and some fire, and inflict some serious pain on whatever is left :) Revenge time.........

don't let it hear you say that..... you might upset it..

Wot Jim said ^^^

Been there, done that, and now I'm on C number 6! I contemplated selling again only a few weeks ago, but left it a few days to calm down, carefully thought it through and thankfully changed my mind. And now, the stat has gone!

If you sell, you'll die every time you see one. Your car looks like a cracker, and most of those things are annoying niggles. Get the oil prob/clatter checked out by a specialist for your peace of mind. If it's major, have another think- maybe Winter storage, then get it sorted in the Spring.

If break-downs and running costs are an issue then buy a 1.8 16v. I can honestly say that my Corrado is the cheapest car I've ever had with respect to running costs.

You'd be mad to sell your car Trigger, unless you're going to buy something brand new with a comprehensive warranty; it's one of the most sorted Corrados on this forum. Anything else you buy will have its own set of problems. Better the devil you know.

Oh, and yes...I do want it.

alreet trig

hmm the rado , they really are only small jobs but i know its the fact that the list will never end with on an older car , personally i think to own a rado it has to be an ongoing hobby

i've had 16k put aside for a new car since last february and i still havent got one

i've driven a boxster 3.2s , vx220, scooby , rs focus, audi TT and many others, i even had a 55 plate M3 convertible for the day (42k lol way too much)

but they just dont have that x factor , the nearest was probably the VX220 turbo but i just dont know if i could live with it day in day out

the rado is a bit noisy and unrefined compared to newer cars but and its a big but i find newer cars anaesthetize the driving experience , you feel detatched and soon the novelty of a quiet new car wears off

the rado is a more "seat of yer pants" driving experience and the noise of the v6 is addictive, it still puts a smile on my face 2 1/2 yrs down the line

the biggest problem for me is that parts are expensive and soon the price of a repair will outweigh the value of the car

but the very worst thing about a corrado is ..... what the hell do you replace it with ??

trig,

seconded everything everyone has said, i've been looking at selling mine on and off for a few months. I'm fairly lucky as only have a niggle list of two things, which is more than manageable.

For the sake of getting the immediate niggles sorted, just do it. Worry about the bigger things when they become a problem - you'll only be doing the same thing if you bought another "unknown" car

Again, agreeing with everyone else here trig. I don't think there's ever been a car that generates as much love/hate from its owners as a corrado! I bet everyone on this forum has felt like this at some point! Only seen the car once, and It's gorgeous, don't do it.........

omg, how many people are thinking of selling up??? there'll be no one left on here with a 'rado.

To be honest though, we're probably selling up after Christmas!!

I really don't want to sell up but we don't have the time or money to sort it out. Having just bought a house we have other things to spend money on.

We paid 3k for our VR about 18 months ago and we wouldn't get that sort of money if we sold but I'd rather cut our losses now before we lose any more money on it.

I wouldn't regret selling it because it's the sensible thing to do but I would miss her

I think there's a big difference between selling up because you can't afford to run the car due to other more pressing commitments - and selling up because it's doing your head in at the moment.

If it's a financial choice then fair enough, there are more important things in life.

Was thinking about getting an S3 by the way. Might have a drive in one and see how I feel after...

Can't afford both though really, plus Laura would probably go mental.

What I am going to do is get back on sorting the problems out. Whatever I do I need to get her sorted whether i'm going to sell or keep.

Thanks again guys.

trig

i had my mates s3 for the day and i wasnt impressed to be honest , it felt about as fast as the rado but a little too anonymous looking for my liking, certainly not a "SPECIAL" car in my eyes

bloody hell i've only just realised how fussy i am lol , when i drive the rado it still puts a smile on my face and its a very individual car

yes i've spent quite a bit on the car , with the respray and leather interior , koni's , bmc ,amp sub pods etc etc but i'm used to losing 3k + on a car per annum as i always buy cars that cost 15k+ so to be honest the rado has been cheap, just remember that usually the higher the price of a car the more % you lose each year... residuals suck

and just to offer some perspective (sadly) , my mate who has 2 children split up with his wife a week ago and hung himself last saturday :-( , so .... live life mate these really are small decesions in the grand scheme... take care

Thanks Paul, small things as you say, and yes, you are fussy!

To round up this thread (unless anymore S3 opinions are forthcoming!), i'm going to sort out the little problems then put the C up for sale...

I think. ;)

if your not enjoying owning it any more then it may be time to move on - you can always get another one... we all know when we sell our C's that we will regret it, I do in a way, however there are loads of great cars out there...!

I hate to say it but its just a car, theres no point stressing over it!
