Jim 2 Posted March 11, 2007 Since getting the car in.. er.. July I think it was, i've done / had done: Coolant / oil / brake fluid all flushed and changed New front engine mount Top mounts Wishbones Ball joints Rear axle bushes Set of borbet C's with Rainsports Replacement ISV (cheap from the bay) New HT leads / rotor arm / distributor cap New coolant flange Inlet manifold gaskets Front wheel bearings Replacement front G60 caliper and a new brake line New badges (16v grille logo and rear VW roundel) Not bothering to keep a tally! Must be a good £500 in general bits, plus tyres there.. lots of labour has been thanks to very generous folks off here giving up weekends, etc to help me out and has saved me a packet! jonrb 0 Posted March 12, 2007 Mine can be found at http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=128 Basically if you take into account depreciation, fuel, repairs, servicing, tyres and upgrades (but not tax and insurance) then my car has cost me almost £48k over 10 or so years. davidwort 0 Posted March 12, 2007 I've had my 16v for 11 years and in that time I've spent about six grand on it, but that's everything, including a gas flowed head (600 quid) and a brand new TSR engine block conversion costing 1500 quid. So it's actually not that bad considering I've replaced all the bushes, suspension components, radiator, exhaust, PS pump and hoses and all service items including timing parts (several times), filters, brakes and even tyres. I keep a pretty good record of all the bit's I've bought and when they were put on for service reasons as much as anything, it's a pretty long spreadsheet :)
