Anyone ever heard of an R32 diesel? I certainly hadn't, but just spotted this:

205bhp? Given that it's a diesel this is probably delivered at 4000rpm, so it's probably about as fast as the petrol one, if not faster!

I wonder how much torque it produces? Gotta be over 300lbft...

Would be very interested to hear what engine is in this, anyone think it's a souped up TDi with the R32 body? Had a look at the pics in the magazine, it certainly looks like an authentic R32, no pics of the engine though :?

Funnily enough, there's a nice silver R32 parked outside my flat just now 8) Think it's a petrol one though

But would it go in a C ? (A decent Diesel )

I know everyone goes on about 1.8T etc but the economy and speed would be a good trade off for me.

:D

There is someone on here who's done one... It was making around 180BHP with 220lbft torque IIRC... 8) Oh, and 50+MPG! :D

Thought it was more like 280 lbft torque? Even the current 150bhp TDi Golf produces torque in the high 200 lbft range.

Sorry, it's 280Nm torque for the 1.9 PD, and 115bhp, so if you've got close to 200bhp I'd expect to see close to 400Nm torque.. Which is um 285 lbft! :)

Sorry, my bad, it was a typo... should have been 180BHP and around 320lbft...

Not any more! That's a legacy of NA diesels and non-common rail technology.

Modern diesels tend to give a slight puff when booting it. If you get major black clouds then the tuner is a muppet because they're cramming too much fuel into the engine.

Follow a BMW 330 D driving quite hard and you'll see what I mean....that is if you can keep up!

Can't find any info about the R32 diesel online anywhere, so the engine remains a mystery but it's very likely to be a tuned 2.0 TDi 4 pot, or maybe the 2.5 V6 TDI out of the Passat, but that's only 167bhp.

So Techheads would it be an easy transplant ?

cheapo 16 valver and drop in a 6 speed pd engine

I wonder if it would make it heave on the front.......... :?

no engine transplant of that magnitude is easy, but it has been done by a couple of people who have posted on here.... It's supposed to be a very good conversion with bags of torque and plenty of BHP as well as returning 50+ MPG! :o
