_Matt_ 33 Posted May 22, 2024 No worries! I changed my FPR today with both my old one from my white corrado (orig part) and a new bosch 4 bar item. Just trying to cure long crank when warm still... Anyway - before changing when I disconnect the vac line my engine note noticeably changes, a touch higher revs. Trying both bosch and my old one the engine note does not noticeably change when disconnecting the vac line. Perhaps a slight lumpy idle but nothing noticeable. No idea what that means. Have left the new bosch fpr installed for now. Weather is too miserable to test. _Matt_ 33 Posted June 3, 2024 Put 100 miles on the car over the last week. Today I'm off work and back home and decided to test the old FPR by putting it back in the car, going for a drive and waiting 15 mins to restart it. It cranks and cranks. Swap back to the bosch 4bar and it the car starts straight away after 15 mins sitting. The only minor issue with the bosch item is that the diameter for the vac line is smaller than the oem fpr. I'll get some smaller diameter vac line to compensate. Oem fpr in the picture.
Cressa 46 Posted June 3, 2024 Sounds like you may have sorted it. I never changed this in solving my issue, but hopefully this will help someone. 👍
fendervg 33 Posted June 4, 2024 Sounds like the residual pressure was not holding, so the pump would have to build up the pressure again during starting.
_Matt_ 33 Posted June 4, 2024 Perhaps it was a collection of parts being weak causing an issue and this part was the last item standing with an issue. Either way can't harm anything except my wallet having a full fuel system part refresh I suppose. Clutch has got better with use too, Vince suggested doing anoter 200 miles and using the gears to engine brake to bed the clutch in. Not "right" yet but i think it will get there. I'm going back to have the subframe swapped over and some engine mounts in autumn. If i can get some uprated ARBs I will go for those too. Any thoughts on engine mounts? Understand the rear engine one is obsolete. Is vibratechnics worth it all round? I had the front one last time and no issues with vibration. Assume powerflex would be ok for the steering rack bush? Any other bushes i should look at on the steering column?
ChrisL 20 Posted June 5, 2024 Regarding the engine mounts, I bought standard Febi ones for the rears and a vibratechnics for the front one. I think I heard that vibra ones all round on a road car are not so good.
_Matt_ 33 Posted June 5, 2024 Thanks Chris. Good you got hold of a rear engine mount, I was looking last year for someone else and none available. I'll look again. If I went VT I think I'd go front for sure, perhaps rear engine and mk2 golf diesel gearbox mount by the looks of things on this forum. Though if I could get a rear engine oem style mount I'd probably do that instead to save some pennies.
_Matt_ 33 Posted June 25, 2024 Looked good in the sunshine on the school run this morning. Obligatory corner spot away from everyone else of course... it is a pub car park hence the camper in the field.

_Matt_ 33 Posted November 5, 2024 New clutch master and slave fitted + a proper Hunter alignment over the last few days. The car is rejuvenated and useable again: tracks spot on and the clutch issues I had with juddering have gone away. The pedal was also not returning and sometimes the clutch was not fully disengaging. The place I took it to was local, recommneded by a local fellow Corrado owner, I'm really happy with the outcome, they are engineers rather than fitters. The workshop had a mix of old and new 911s, TVR, Fiat X1, Triumph or some sort, GTV6 80s Alfa, Citreon ZM and a Vauxhall Senator. The clutch master I supplied was a LHD version as RHD is obsolete, he made it all work and even refitted it after bleeding it up as the pedal sat too high and engineered a solution to make it sit at the right height. I'm sure many fitters would have just left the pedal and inch too high or worse still refused to work on the car. I asked them to give the car an inspection as I've done quite a bit of work with the axle and it got a clean bill of health. There was a note that the subframe has had a weld repair due to seized bolt in the past, which I knew about and have a replacement already refurbished to go on. It would have made sense to do this time around due to the alignment but I still need to purchase uprated ARBs and Vibra Technic engine mounts... a purchase that will have to happen after Christmas now.

_Matt_ 33 Posted January 20 And that's another one Sold. Rob the new owner will enjoy it for more than me, plans to 10k per annum on it and take it to Europe. In fact I think he has done more driving with it in one day than I have done for my entire ownership. I had started talks with Rob before Christmas and sent him about 30mins of video talking through the car, but decided yesterday morning to let it go and after seeing a few Corrados without success he left his house almost straight away and came up with his Son and took it there and then. Great bloke and very easy sale. That was my last Corrado, awesome cars but I just fancy something more modern, useable in all weathers without concern for salt etc. Cayman 981 S I think, or a 911 (early 996 with aero kit would be great). Also bought a Tesla Model 3 and a Tesla Model Y at the weekend. All change! I gave Rob some parts but still have a stash of fog lights, indicators, headlights, headlight lenses, new scraper seals and lots of other bits to work my way through. Will be listing on ebay but obvs if anyone wants anything let me know. Would prefer lights are picked up in person.

oneohtwo 8 Posted January 21 Sad to see another forum stalwart go, but can understand your reasons. That's a decent car collection you'll have going on! Feel like I am in a similar boat. Don't have an urge to get rid yet, but we recently got a Polestar 2, partly as my gf got fed up with the lack of creature comforts in the Corrado, aircon and cupholders in particular. Since then I haven't had much cause to drive it, so it's not getting used much. I must admit driving around in a modern car, as you say, has been a pretty nice experience. _Matt_ 33 Posted January 22 Perhaps I am getting old but that's what I like about the modern car. I didn't think i'd go EV but loved it so much I decided to get rid of the other family car. Seems pointless to pay for fuel if I can charge at home and fill it up for 4 quid (8 quid to be comparable as the range is half as much vs the ICE cars we had which were c80quid to fill up... i was spending 400-600 on fuel a month so i will see a saving there). Tesla seems really integrated and i've planned out using the sat nav how i'd do a trip to Italy and to my wife's Dad a few hundred miles away and it's easy peasy, just 2 x 15 min stops to my wife's dad in the Model 3 (Standard Range) and 1 stop for 10 mins in the Model Y (AWD Long Range). Tesla preconditions the battery to accept the fastest charge when out on the road and a supercharger is the destination/stop over. The model 3 is really just a local runabout, they have depreciated so much that it is equivlant in price to a ford focus at 3 years old (still 1 year manufacture warranty and 5 years on the battery and driveline!). The new owner has had the car for 3 days and put more tanks of fuel in it than I ever did! He loves it, I happy it went to good home. He is planning 10k per annum on it so for general Corrado owners he is a better owner than me to get it out and about. At the moment I am enjoying life and not desparate to get anything in the garage. I will clear parts and tools in the meantime.
_Matt_ 33 Posted November 26 Back on track after a few months of weakness with no fun cars 😃 G60, it was on eBay and Car and Classic, higher miles - 149k - but well looked after. One of its owners was apparantely an aircraft engineer and everywhere I look I can see a job I would have done but it is already done. It came from Somerset and I am the first owner to take it away from within 10 miles of it's supplying dealer. It is mostly stock, all I can see so far is Bilstein yellow dampers on standard springs, powerflex rear bushes, a jabba charger rebuild (assume their standard one looking at the price) and a stainless 2 silencer cat back exhaust that has been made to look like the original. The seller was a great guy and we built up a good relationship during the buying process.... which was fortunate as when I went to transfer the remaining money over to him on the day my bank flagged it as fraud and the banking app wouldn't let me in. We waited around for a couple of hours for a "fraud officer" to be allocated to the case but the issue was unresolved (until the following Saturday morning). He let me take the car home on trust, as although I could see the money had left my account before the bank locked access to it, he had not had the money in his bank. This is something we know we should never do when selling cars and the risk was on him. He obviously knew the car was awesome and I would never have messed him about anyway so I am pleased he trusted me to let that happen. It was 3 hour drive home and my friend drove the car home as I was in my EV, it didn't miss a beat. And awesome it is indeed. I quickly looked at the sills when I collected it and was happy but when I got it home and crawled underneath it is even better: It is immaculate and original and easily the best one I have had condition wise (twilight one really needed the axle and frames refreshing due caked on rust, which I did do), this one hasn't been refurbished but is just clean and spot of lanoguard will preserve it. Even the rear tow area is rust free and clean. All my other ones needed wire brushing and sorting out to tidy up that bit. Body work is great, just one bit of rust to tend too in the corner of the rear screen. Like the blue hinge to the silver. Even the drivers door has not dropped and closes as perfectly as the passenger side. And my purple one had a tiny bit of up and own play in the steering wheel but this one is solid. Interior is black leather and original and doest not rattle too. Some pics, also some of the TT for those intersted. For couple of grand paid the TT is a hell of a lot of car for the money (recon dsg box 9k ago, £1500 of suspension and brake work done last year, chains well within in tolerance on the computer but even if I had to do them later down the line I wouldn't be too upset given the price I paid, serviced every year since new). I have stripped the arch lines etc and cleaned/inpsected + lanoguarded, no rust. I also replaced the rear shocks and springs as one had snapped and both shocks looked tired. Had the wheels refurbished back to silver. It's also got a custom exhaust on it that had been made to original specs but stainless. Pics:
