1. This is so true people are so obsessed with mileage in this country, modern classics are very usable so one should expect high mileage and purchase a car on history, maintenance, chassis and body condition. Some of the worst cars to buy are garage queens but I suppose if you spend the money on them you should get it back but you have to pay a high premium in the first instance.
2. Still you can eliminate both coil packs are working correctly as this does sure sound like a coil pack misbehaving. I would just work your way through the parts mentioned as it will do your car good anyhow.
3. You know for sure its not your coil pack as that would be my number 1 prime suspect.
4. If the battery is displaying the correct output I would be amazed if it was the battery, wouldn't do no harm to clean the contacts though with a wire brush if they are looking grubby. Have you changed the coil pack at all , I had the problem you had and it was the coil pack, Vince at stealth said the coil pack was that bad that it even enabled for two cylinders to be working intermittently. If you have a cheap one on well worth swopping out for a Beru coil pack. If you have misfueling this should show up as a fault code on VAG as mixture adaption or lambada code code because it cant work in its tolerance. Recommend a Vgate off ebay if you don't have one pretty cheap £30 something. Bad fuelling could also be injectors choked and need to be refurbished, also fuel pump on its way out as you mentioned. My first port of call would be sparks and leads if not changed. Coil Pack Fuel pump Injectors refurbished - If going to do this let me find out who he uses because he mentioned to me other Owners of Rados had them done elsewhere and caused big problems as the refurbisher didn't do them correctly and they did some sort of damage to the cars . Also worth checking that you have no air leaks in the intake and exhaust system.
5. Hi Mick, Do you have for sale. The rear tailgate has a buffer plate in the lower trim panel, to remove pop it out from behind the trim if you try to lever it out it may snap , its ok if its grey think they all are. Picture attached. Thanks
6. Just noticed your parcel shelf is grey are the trims grey or black in your car as I need the trim in black. Thanks
7. I wouldn't even buy this car for £1k to be honest unless I was in the braking game which I'm not.
8. Ok micky I will ask my mechanic what he thinks, but if you could kindly see if you have that tailgate trim in the mean time. Cheers.
9. Does the mfa fully/display work in the cluster binnacle ? Does anyone know if this 16v MFA would work correct in a late VR6 as Im sure there are different part numbers for the MFA. Cheers.
10. The only storm about this car is the hale of ****e it will give the next owner .
11. Hi Mick, Do you have, Part number 535867602 in black I'm after the horizontal upper trim panel on top of the inside of the tailgate, the one that has the sliding C shaped plastic clips either end. To remove this you must slide the clips back and pull the trim upwards, if pulled outwards or down it will snap the rear clips. It should have five slanted clips on the back built into the trim , I have the C shaped clips all ready. 12. Good luck to the seller of this Storm, looks like a 2k car max to me even less , so only 6k for the storm badge and eroded solitude alloys. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-VW-Corrado-VR6-STORM-very-rare-original-car/113721704694?hash=item1a7a5780f6:g:VBcAAOSws3pcqjCs&frcectupt=true

Late passenger wing

If you need a part off Amos I wouldn't bother purchasing anything unless you can rock up there and catch him off guard, less time to research how much he can cream out of you and can also inspect the parts of course.
14. Just so you're aware Keyo, early VR6s came with a fibre sump gasket so needed shorter Allen bolts. The late ones came with a thicker rubber gasket so needed the longer bolts which are probably the ones they sent you. Well done with the work you've done, cracking effort in such a short space of time! There are a few on here that have the Borla exhaust from who you mention and they rave about it. I've got a jetex non resonated and I think it's absolutely perfect. As long as it's fitted well, the vast majority will be good though Thanks Sean much appreciated. The sump bolt set VW International sent out are not the original set either for the late rado they are even longer then my original ones and are a superseded part number all together, they might be fine to use but my mechanic didn't want to risk it so used my old ones again. Sure jetex and Milltek the main choice in the UK but I would of chose the Borla if available in the UK they use quality grade 304 .
15. Thanks Fen , It did cost a pretty penny buying all the parts and then getting them fitted. I've actually just put my R129 up for sale because of a few reasons. I have more fun in the Rado, need at least one modern car with the new emissions charge coming into Birmingham in the next year or so, bit stressful looking after two classics. Think I'm going to replace the R129 with a MK7 golf GTI not sure yet but will take a while to sell the Merc as it's in mint condition and asking good money for it. Still not yet finished the Rado to be honest its going in to the body shop for paint correction and hinges, sort out the MFA as the last digit only displays half sometimes, new fuel pump and housing, and finally refurbished injectors. P.s Warning thinking of refurbishing injectors, ring Stealth as he mentioned to me that some people had them done at a certain place and I think the ends of them are wrong and have caused damage to the cars somehow, I cant remember the proper terminology he used.

Sparks and leads

Wow 9 years old that sucks. Iam one of those lucky sods but you also have to get some gaskets from Bar Tek in Germany think they cost about £60 + sob ha !

Sparks and leads

Yes I have them on mine if you search black magic returns , they work great and give the maximum spark that works well with the car, when you search for part number FR7KPP33+ you will be also be offered a NGK version but make sure you get the Bosch ones , same words that came out of Vince's mouth. Thee's not much point in putting long life super spark++++ etc. in a VR, just change them every year or 10-15K and you'll be grand. Uless you have a shrick vgi you have to take the manifold off to change the sparks :bonk:
