1. Well said this pollution charge has effects that far outreach just a fee to travel into this area. When they bring it into Birmingham It will have a huge effect on retail sales. Also there are still many industrial manufacturing premises in the charge zone in Birmingham , so if a HGV needs to collect/ deliver apparently £100 , so say 10 deliveries a day, factory owner can't be arsed to move as sales are not great, might as well shut up shop, 50 people loose jobs. Also this is some more trouble brewing off the nanny state controling your speed if a new car from 2022.
2. I know one guy that what I call a taking it easy job suitable for guys who's body are basically botched through a career of trade work, he use to go around and collect just a bag a site from where British gas Boiler installers would leave a bag of asbestos after doing a boiler exchange, that was a very nice job, he had about 8 collections a day. To be honest I compare most lifting materials to my occupation as lightweight and envious. Shed guy broke it down into bags and wheel barrow so not that bad at all. I think the real hard thing about asbestos removal is wearing the PPE mask as that gets some getting use to when working in a hot area and all the smogging up , I could barely see anything working on the slippery steels, thankfully once the scaffold was erect the asbestos operatives had a very nice platform to stand on and carry out their work safely.

VR6 - breather

What I call the breather hose comes from your PCV /inlet manifold to your air intake boot elbow, if you run your finger were it joins the intake boot there is a grey sleeve fitting, don't be suprised if you have a finger tip of liquidated oil and this drops below depositing every where. http://images46.fotki.com/v1611/photos/2/1085992/7989207/VR6MAF-vi.jpg
4. I had an asbestos shed and the guy who came and took it away had a good litlle business that just did domestic removal. Always check if someone is liscenced. By law you are actually aloud to bury cement asbestos (low volume) in your garden but if you ever sold your property by law you would have to declare so not a good idea in my opinion ! To be honest apart from wearing the mask I thought the asbestos operatives had a quite an easy job compared to the scaffolding as only shiffting light bin bag sizes and lots of brakes.
5. I use to do scaffolding for Asbestos removal. One of the worst scaffoldings I ever did was at Jaguar solihull, I had to erect a suspended scaffolding slung/suspended off the roof steels above the boiler room / power station all the steels were covered in 50 years worth off oil and debris . Was there for a month and lost a stone and half in weight , it was 30 to 40 degrees in there and had to wear a proper breathing mask as the scaffolding was designed for removing brown asbestos, also had to wrap the whole scaffolding to make it airtight so the asbestos could not contaminate the factory floor. It was one of the worst jobs alongside council flat 20 storys and power station shut downs, that made me decide to start my own firm so I could choose what sort of work I did and who with. Now been going for 14 years and do alot for heritage, not long did the queen Victoria statue and the oldest working steam engine in the World at the Millenium museum the Smethwick. However after been a scaffolder for over 25 years and shiffitng 3 tons of gear manually every day it's fair to Say my body aches like a permanent chisel sinking into your joints. The hardest thing is getting scaffolders the young generation just don't want to graft and its five thousand pounds to train someone and they can just walk away once trained and your back to square one. Also the liability is huge working at heights, running trucks, employee safety and public, storage yard rent. high lbour costs. Now looking to get into fall capture netting as well, the riggers that do it tend to give less issues employing them then scaffolders and more like rope access lads then scaffies, and also less people doing it/ competition.
6. Same here I thought you could buy an adaptor .
7. Have you had the ecu scanned for faults yet ????
8. Best of luck with your new Rado. If it's a MK2 golf 16V the other car I will have an interest ha .
9. I have a few of these 171121276D at home they are also used at the bottom of the airbox feet. If it is the same rubber as pictured above with the bracket the part number is 055129669 and utterley obselete .
10. Not sure how you would check that to be honest, although when you scan the ecu you will hear the relay clicking. . Have you scanned the vehicle for faults if not I would make this your first port of call. I use my car as a daily so I changed my fuel and Ecu relay as a preventive measure as when I pulled the original ones out and had a look at them they had a manufacture date of 1995 stamped on them so thought sod it for £30 I will change them . When you said you checked the 02 sensor which is the prime suspect how did you check it ? Did you also check the o2 harness is in good working condition.
11. Coil packs are a common faiure so would'nt be suprised. If your based in the Midalnds can come over mate and check for codes I have V gate scanner .
12. Not sure to be honest mate as never had a problem as of yet with the rev counter dropping, just rough running engine and that was down to air leaks and a 02 sensor when it got to operating tempature f 75degrees plus. .
13. Have you got a vgate or a scanner ? This could be an exhaust or manifold leak , or Mass air sensor, or quite a few other things to be honest I would have it scanned for faults or purchase a VGate off ebay for £30. I would check for air leaks especially if you have haad everything disassembled latley. Does it run rough straight away or when it gets to operating tempature?
14. The blue temp sensor for the ECU is only a £15 part you might as well change it and see if that cures it, I believe the part number is 025906041A , look on the link below it is item 13 on diagram so you can locate it in your engine bay , easy part to get hold of see if you can buy it as a package with the o ring and clip. Obviously the coolant can escape when you change it, so condsider a coolant change and make sure you use OE coolant or prepare for spillage and change with coolant in the sytem and be quick. . Also might be worth changing ECU control relay + Fuel Relay found in the fuse box. http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/USA/modell/COR/year/1995/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/919/subcategory/212000/part_id/0/lang/e#sec_13
15. It is a joke i got quoted £1500 pounds and the classic guy £600 and that includes cutting out and fabricating. I would try and find somewhere outside of Manchester in a little town that has less competition, they might appreciate your business more and smaller firms tend to do a better job from my experience.
16. Yep it really is hard finding a fair priced body shop who actually do a proper job, their use to getting insurance contracts where they just knock them out as qucikly as possible. Im trying a classic car specialist body shop next in Nuneaton. If you have a bit of rust you want sorting they wont even treat the rust these days just sand over it and paint !
17. Hi Guys , Just concentrating on the parts I have listed for the time been , and will report back once I have met the owner of the company , it’s not just a 3D company they also make Mouldings the old fashion way , they can recreate pretty much anything plastic and supply to motorsport , classic car industry , aerospace , the owner comes across a sound brummie and has helped many a classic car fan out before and totally happy with low volume , so let’s see how it all unravels . I Regards Kieran .
18. Thanks but if you have seen what this firm makes it's bread and butter to them. I would probably be only making red or silver front decal. just keeping it simple at the moment. Many firms in Birmingham that have been supplying manufactured parts to the automtive industry so have all the tooling in place. But as mentioned fingers crossed as you might well be right. They are also experts in creating metal fittings.
19. If your on about these they are available at a good price all ready. This german ebayer is very fair and the inventor of the door handle repair kit. He also does the VDO trim for the facelift model. Good postage to may I add. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-VDO-Gauge-Holder-VR6-G60-16V-Heater-Control-Panel-Cover/170604268629?hash=item27b8ce8c55:g:QEcAAOxyZw5RbCK3 Facelift https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-Gauge-Holder-Panel-VR6-G60-16V-2L-SLC-3-Hole-93-96-Display-Holder/170605546032?hash=item27b8e20a30:g:-ewAAOSwbc9amWDf H
20. Im sure these do need making Sean , might be one for the future if all goes well, obviously the parts I'm hoping to manufacture will need to sell to cover my costs, if good quality and well priced I cant see why not.
21. Exactly this if I can get them down by 50% I will be happy, this will be a learning curve for me as never had any automotive trims made before so might well be way off with expectations but iam confident. The MD of the plastics company exact words were "the front decal is a piece of cake" . Ill need engough people to purchase these parts to cover making the template per item . One other part Im going to ask him to make is the door card screw caps. Final list of parts Im going for. Binnacle trim corner trims left and right 53585850701C & 53585850801C Fuse clip 191857971 Door seat tilt handels , need to source some of these as mine are golf ones . Corrado right side 867881634 Corrado left side 867881633 VR6 Front Decal badge 535853679 Door card screw caps. Just keeping it simple for the time been . Please note the tilt handels will not be made unless someone can post me a spare set in good condition as I have golf ones at the moment so the factory have nothing to go from. these guys have a 3d scanning machine . They are impossible to purchase anywhere please correct me if im wrong.
22. Yes agree will have to be produced so they are ready for use . I get my car back off Stealth in the next week or so and the factory owner has asked me to bring her over and he can have a look at the parts , the binnacle trims has Jim sold them all , otherwise as mentioned probably no point getting any made , also how much was it for a pair . Cheers.
23. Hi , I spoke to a manufacturer in Birmingham today who specialises in 3D printing for classic car plastic trims and does classic Lotus and a few other brands etc in low volume. I'm not looking to profit from this and also do not have the time really as I run my own scaffolding company all ready. However frankly I think the prices of obselete trims and decals are to high for my likings and I want to get the ball rolling out of principal to try and cut the costs as much as I can. The main cost is the template , so just getting some feedback if other members would be interested in purchasing some of the below items. He has all ready told me the VR6 Decal is quite frankly a piece of cake for him to make the template after seeing the item by email. Birmingham and the Black country does have an abundance of small manufacturers so very handy ! Binnacle trim corner trims left and right 53585850701C & 53585850801C Fuse clip 191857971 Door seat tilt handels , need to source some of these as mine are golf ones . Corrado right side 867881634 Corrado left side 867881633 VR6 Front Decal badge 535853679 Even if i can just get the front decal badge made would be a huge bonus right ? Hoping to at least half current prices floating about. Cheers feedback appreciated. Exmple of some of his work .
24. I would rather have them collected and sold as a package to be honest Simeon , also the purchaser can inspect them first and make sure they are happy with them. Cheers,
