1. This is the clip that is missing, it might well be a buffer to stop the tailgate chopping into the rubber. It is black not grey. Any idea of the part number anyone thank you.
2. Not sure as on close inspection I could see rubber molded to the tailgate from were the slit was , maybe something is off hock or the scorching summer we had been a black car melted it, I did notice there are two small grey square clips one either side of the bottom of the bootlid, one is also missing .
3. Realised today why the boot seal had a jagged cut in it. I was cleaning out the boot and noticed a large factory hole at the bottom of the tailgate , after further investigation on oempec I realised there was a whole shut stut missing. The bootlid itself had damaged the seal through a lack of boot spring.strut managed to source the parts Oh the joys of previous Rado owners !!! Grrr If anyone has a pictue in flesh how it should look that would be great. Picture of strut/spring housing.
4. It really is hit and miss body repair, if they are busy the quote can all most double and a lot of them do not do the prep/quality chemicals to insure the job lasts. Ive found a guy near Nuneaton and his a classic car specialist that is meant to be an expert at cutting out and welding so going to give him a bash, also was a lot cheaper then insurance specialists based in Birmingham. The front wing on my Merc needs doing to, I asked in the shop have you any available and they were yes over 600 in the main warehouse ha the first R129 was released in 89! Ive been told there was a HSE law change from oil based paint to water based in the 90s in Germany this did not help the life exspentancy of panels from this era , also a HSE ruling on cylinder lining using a different a different material that led to premature cylinder scoring especially on 911 966 .
5. No worries on that front Ill pm you once arrived and I check they fit, I believe they are saturn black Part number 357-867-169/B41
6. Good to hear mate , body work repairs are going to add up to a pretty penny but im leaving it as the last job. Went to Merc today to get some door card clips and serpentine belt, its unbeliavable what they carry in stock, VAG could learn a thing or two off their classics parts service, they even do a classic service at selected main dealers for cars older the 15 years at a reduced rate of £150 good for the old stamp book.
7. Dont worry Rob didnt cost much as ordered alongside other parts just PM your address might be a few weeks as ordered from Germany classics. Cheers.
8. Thanks Robrado, P.s I have some original high A pillar screw caps in black from Germany en route Rob Pm ill have a couple of spare if you need some . Also anyone with a spare fuse trim clip PM me and I can swop 2 a pliilar trim caps and 3 original blue hose clamps. Cheers.
9. I removed the spoonfed door foot trims today as tha adhesive tape needs replacing , I also have a bit of rust on the drivers side door footwell that needs attantion before I put them back on. Question fellow members, my drive is on a slope and parked with the engine facing downhill. When I open either door after it has rained is it normal for rain water to gush out of the drain hole on the bottom of the door , should this not be draining out without opening the door ? There is no signs of water leaks inside the cabin. Thank You.
10. When you say a blade what sort/tool thanks because I think there is a metal crimp section in the seal.
11. Yes practise on the spare good idea ! Im sure someone on here would know what the holes are for.
12. Great hopefully it will work well , just got to think how the best way to cut it maybe a fine hacksaw. The only thing I noticed about the original seal it had some small holes on the seal like breather holes.

A Pillar screw caps

So the lower footwell A pillar trims with screw showing, I purchased off ebay some 8mm caps for a couple of quid. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142176790325 It another winner and very snug fit would not pop out unless you give it a good lever. You can still get the originl screws from Horton seat, I use these alot for hard to fine screws and bolts. I had two dash screws on the otherside of the footwell, its muscical screws after years of mechanics working on them. http://www.seatpartsshop.co.uk/product/SCREW_N-0139649
17. Anyone who has replaced theres in the last few years and have a link would be great. Cheers.

A Pillar screw caps

Anyone got the part number below it must be in working order , after one clip that includes both the button and square housing for button. Fuse box trim retaining clip Part number 191857971 Thanks in advance. Have some original hard to find brand new VW Corrado blue hose clamps, the two that sit on the hoses to throttle body and the one to the coolant reservoir if somone wants to swop. I imagine as these are the main clamps on show VW made an effort to make them in light blue. If you look closeley at your old clamps they are actually blue. P.s scirroco door card screw caps fit great so slowly winning.
21. It looks like it could be a hole for an immoboliser light prehaps. Ive never seen the gear box shifter pattern light up or is this aftermarket anyone ?

Starting Problem

It is under the HT lead trim on the side of the engine , really is a 5 minute job to replace, make sure you get a VW cam sensor they are still available. Part number 021907601A This is the cheapest I could find and purchased a month back. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wheel-Speed-Sensor-Speedo-Impulse-Replacement-Spare-Part-VM-Part-021907601A/292799763784?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
23. Ive never owned another car that recieves so many clangs from other drivers doors, I think other motorists just think its an old car and they just dont give a damn.
24. I have changed my power steering OE fluid and it didnt really make the steering less easy, getting all the supension done in a coule of weeks Ill let you know if it makes a difference. I reckon its just modern cars with electric steering racks just feel a lot lighter. Any ides when the fluid was last changed , it should be green the OE stuff and still available.
