Highly recommended for seized/rounded bolts
Supercharged replied to STORM 2's topic in Suppliers Forum
Yep - just to say i got the main set and the expansion set from Machine Mart and they have already paid for themselves at least once... Yesterday I bought some JML screw extractors from Homebase but not tried them yet... -
LOL - Oh i had problems fitting them but the G60 kit is much worse than the VR one and half the hoses are a nightmare to get on, especially the ones going onto metal pipes... The other issue was I was using these massive mikalor clips and they are way to easy to overtighten onto plastic, I'd say Jubilee's are better (Altho you can't argue with the clamping power, the Mikalors are meant to be stainless but 3 years on and mine are going rusty where they are spot-welded) The plastic elbows I did are the one on the front of the cyl head (temp senders), one at the side, one on the rad and new thermostat elbow with new pump and stat... On the VR there is the rad elbow, the thermo housing and the elsecric water pump which all have plastic outlets...

ANY AUTOELECTRICIANS NEAR BIRMINGHAM THAT COULD HELP ME????

Hmmm - Not the first person to have recently had problems with Optima's - I wonder if they had a bad batch? -
I use a glass scraper (Tesco sell draper ones that are really good) for taking stickers etc off with a bit of fairly liquid... Not sure if it will work on tinting film but i'm thinking if you get underneath it then it should just pull off...

Kev - tell me more about the Polo BJ's? I'm happy with the steering not on the TDi after fitting the fixed column, i've booked it in for 4 wheel in a weeks time and i'm going to get the H&R camber bolts fitted, wondering if I should get the BJ's at the same time?? -
Is the fuel pump supposed to pulse when it's priming?

Re-seat / Change the relay -
VEEDUBHEV, Wlecome to the forum! You really need tio change any plastic housings / elbows for brand new when fitting samco's as the old ones go brittle with age and the samco's require slightly more clamping force because of the material so the OE hose clips are no good for these, I'd use Jubilee or Mikalor's...

Yep, mentioning the Ombudsman usually gets things moving!

Another quality thread title... The slave will leak internally to start with, original ones are metal sleeved and this rots eventually especially if the fluid is not changed reguarly... Change the slave, new ones are plastic inside and check the flexi pipe leading to it...

Battery hot? - have you looked at the alternator output?
-
Yep that's fine or just unplug the ECU itself...
-
Sam - I was having a good look at my MK4 today and that uses 1 very similar lifter to the INXX ones, altho it only needs one as the bonnet is much lighter than the Corrado, it's money saving at the end of the day and 2 look better and will last longer... It's also mounted from the inside lip of the inner skin of the bonnet to the suspension turret so you don't see it when closed and is much more upright than the way we fitted yours - I'm still not exactly sure of the physics of it and how than affects things but it will lift the bonnet from about half way but this maybe more to do with weight... I'll have a look at the Corrado later and see if there is a better way but chances are I'll fit them the same as yours....
-
potatonet, Sam, Blue_Joe fitted these to his early G60 bonnet over the weekend... seem to work ok altho you still have to physically lift the bonnet all the way up...
-
Do you use any oil at the moment? I thought the engine had been rebuilt failry recently...
-
Paint thinners but be careful of the wheel lacquer
-
At the end of the day tho what is the point when we have a perfectly good and well established Corrado Forum already...
-
I think Kev uses a 15W... 5W is to thin imo
-
Furk'z - you got to remember from Tom's point of view that is the perfect forum - ie no posts!

'Safe and Sound' is a good take on Ice and Secure but i'm not sure about 'Drive Train' - Is that for railway workers only?
-
Yeah - it will be fine, I can't remember which leads are meant to be longer but as long as they're not stretched they'll be fine.
-
Hello, the 7th lead will be the king lead that goes between the dizzy cap and coil... As you can't find where it goes I assume you have a 93 onwards VR6 with a coilpack (a block of plastic with the 6 connections) so you don't need it... Basically you've been sold the wrong set of leads...

Hi mate, had a look in the Bentley and it does mention the Voltage Reg/Stabiliser but says if this was bad then the water temp reading would be up the shoot.... It also mentions testing the gauge by plugging it into a VW tool (machine) which I suspect is one big variable resister... at 50 it should read empty and at 160 half and at 350 full... (it doesn't mention what these units are tho but I suspect ohms) I wouldn't like the say for certain that it's the sender reading out of range as i'm looking in a US Corrado manual and you have a Golf but it may be worth getting a 350 Ohm resister from somewhere to test and see if it reads full??

Has this car got air con?

Unplug the stereo, if the blue and white cable is connected or earthed then it will not work...
