  1. Critical_Mass, just book a B&B and go down there and spend a day or two by the sea... you'll get a better service as Darren will be able to sedt the car up and check eveything is working ok and Corrado's are to be driven anyway - plus i can garauntee you'll enjoy the drive back!
  2. Bumper side lights, 3rd brake light and, of course, ELRA...
  3. Yep, hydraulic problem - if its on the original slave then my moneys on that - new ones are plastic inside and don't corrode in the same way... look for fluid ontop of the gear box altho the leak internally at first so there may not be anything.. When was the fluid last changed??
  4. I called them last year and they confirmed that I own the only Corrado in the UK that is registered to run on 'heavy oil' and they were quite helpful but when I started asking about numbers of Corrado's left etc of each model I don't think the info was that easy to analyse - I reckon they could get the figures easily enough but it may take a bit of time...
  5. It does but the Halfords one fits the original jacket...
  6. ardandy, also have a look at the amount of times it had to be recovered under VW assistance, most VR6 printouts I've seen have showed the car had to be recovered around 5 times in the first 2-3 years!!!
  7. Yep, I've also had no end of checks done on cars I was thinking of buying to check out history and mileage etc...
  8. Usually about an hour on the RR which is about £50 if you car is running fine - make sure plugs and leads are good and filters are new...
  9. Go for another Halfords Calcium, very good quality and 4 year warranty - those Bosch silvers have quite a high failure rate...
  10. Yeah, as above don't worry about it - I've seen several cars with these heads get really good rolling road results so I think your safe in thinking they've been done properly which sadly is more than can be said for there charger rebuilds!
  11. LOL - must have had some gearbox type oil in it...
  12. AAA ABV 9A 2E KR ADY PG
  13. Hmmm - the only Corrado VR6 auto's were sold in 95, 49 of them must have included the 20 Storms but i'm sure i've seen a 93 or 94 auto...
  14. I think Mike Edwards knows a good place...
  15. Yep, VSR is much better in that respect and looks far more OE - there is one on eBay at the moment...
  16. Yep, buy a switch - you can try it without actually changing it over first...
  17. If it gets to 110 in traffic then the rad fan thermoswitch is probably knackered and only working at 1 stage. Is the electric water pump working?
  18. I hope he paid your travel costs if he described it as 'mint' - what a joker...
  19. Are you not going to any VW shows then?
  20. JRado, Welcome to the forum... Have you tried filling up using the top hose and waiting for water to appear in the expansion tank? - if not flush all pipes and check for blockages then refill... Also if you still have a black cap change it for a new blue one as the pressure relief valve sometimes sticks. What mix of G12+ are you using?? about 30-40% with water seems to be best for the UK Don't rule out a faulty new stat (especially if it's not a VW one) - test it in a pan of water...
  21. What are the rear brakes like - these can affect brake 'feel' - if you change the shoes also change the actual drum as well as these seem to corrode inside and make the brakes stick, you will also need new bearings... To test if it is the rear brakes causing the issue try sticking the handbrake on halfway at about 60mph (slowly) to clean and release the brakes... The front brakes on these are also too small IMO for a 1.8 - I assume you've used VAG pads and discs? - My mum has basically the same car and I've stuck Pagid FR's on the front (cheaper than VAG oem) and she noticed a much better bite and she dossn't brake hard at all! Gear linkage - I usually 'clean' by blasting with WD40 then smoother with a handful of CL grease - the grease needs time to work its way in, you may see an improvement over the next couple of hundred miles...
  22. Nice one... think you've found the problem but not sure about reterminating it, you can still but all the pins etc straight from VW but I don't know if it would be better for you to get a whole new plug...
