Yeah - I'm with greenflag, response times are great, alot better than RAC / AA
-
They are about £10 from GSF and £18 from VAG (depending what sort of discount you get) VAG ones are better made than GSF but if you are near a GSF branch i'd get one from them as it's just to rule it out... You can try it without fitting it as well by plugging in the loom and turning with a key or screw driver (just remember to unlock the steering column if you decide to test drive like this!)
-
3 in all - front engine, rear engine and gearbox mounts... Excessive engine movement can make gear changes awkward on these cable change boxes...
-
I'm sorry... what did you say!!!
-
custom driveshafts if using the 6 spd box...
-
Just get a new one mate, they're known to break so even if it's not the problem it's £20 well spent
-
Fuel pump relay or Ignition switch...
-
Pagid FR's take about 2-300 miles before they are ready for hard braking, then seem to get even better over the next 2-300...
-
Judders could be caused by sloppy mounts... Clutch kit is about £80 + 3/4 hours labour to fit...
-
were you using the wider belt?
-
sounds temp related maybe...
-
Yep, always worth hanging onto old leads!
-
Yep, it's the front mount that's under tension with the potential to let go and dent your bonnet, the others are under compression but shouldn't be disregarded if they are 10+ years old... changing the rear engine mount will also help give less engine movement for instance and changing the oil filled transmission mount for a solid rubber one should help the gear shift.

Yeah, thats right, they are different - hence the colour coding... We only say to swap over to test if a multimetre is unavailable...
-
Hmmm - sounds like you need a trip to G-werks! Unplugging the BTS puts the ECU in timing mode where the ignition timing stays fixed, its likely that another sensor is down that is affecting the timing, also could be the vac pipe going from the throttle body to the ECU (map sensor), it is critical that this pipe is 1m long!
-
As standard I was getting 30-35, now ported with a 68 I get 25-30... Not bad at all for the power delivered!
-
Looks like the timing belt snapped but weather that was caused by something else or not....
-
Yep, it'll be the trackrods or the ends, should be able to tell where the play is by feel... New rods are an arse to change, have a search on here for info...
-
First check to do is to go for a drive then check how hot the wheels are, if one is noticably warmer than the one on the opposite side then you know which corner the problems at...

Boots also always good for small battery's

Would have thought VW would have tried swapping the MAF to test, they keep the mk4 ones in stock most of the time... but you never know!
-
Blimey! - glad your alright Andy... Again, was down at the Volksfest yesterday and no rain apart from a litle drissel...

Saw a red one today parked in an industrial estate in Brandon, stuck a note with the forum URL on the windscreen (really must print out some proper flyers!) The 10 mins later saw a grey/blue F plate driving into Tesco's
