Damm, I cut one up the other day

I fixed a couple of mk3 ABS units a while ago by removing the case and re-soldering the joints, I found alot of the joints for the main connector had cracked due to the wiring moving alot under vibration and stressing the connctor. If you can, its always worth a look before scrapping the unit :)

Being in the automotive design industry we had a 2 hour presentation on compliance to the legal legislation today. To be honest I really wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out to be quite interesting. Of course the whole VW/Bosch genius emissions control came into it, and it is genius how they did it, even if wrong but there was also alot covered about the GM deathly ignition switch issue. Its quite scary how an ignition switch has caused 153 alleged deaths purely because the turning torque was to low, even more scary is that the decisions were made by one man who choose to cover it up even when people started dying. more info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_General_Motors_recall and loads more info if you google it. I was quite surprised I hadn't heard about it before.

I'll give it another go then, it didn't want to let go earlier

I've stripped my doors back to be sprayed but I'm not sure about the black plastic panel in the side How does it come out, I didn't want to force it and break it so if someone could let me know I'd be grateful

20vt converted G60 - Engine temp and rev gauge not setup...
GrahamU replied to Ben Hunt's topic in General Car Chat
what management you using? With OEM and some of the aftermarket ECU's you can instal a later cluster without the speedo cable and the tacho will work. The engine temp will need a resistor inline with the sensor, cant remember the value of the top of my head, will look tomorrow if no one else lets you know -
Got to drive this today, have to say, great car and it was good to meet you Mic

How much of the black sticky sealer is left around where the two halves of the ECU case go together? I have some more of that sealant if you need some.

20 quids a good price aswell, when I was taking mine out and seriously thinking about just smashing them the cheapest were about £45

I've been looking at new cars with higher millage, nice find

Nice looking G. That looks like a late cluster, is it the original milage?
-
Looking good now Spen has worked his magic but I agree with SR above, I would put on brighter wheels, ( but its your car ;) )

Those lights look great, mind you, so does the rest of the car now

Mine had gone at the bottom of the A pillars, have you checked round the screen thoroughly? Mine had a rust hole round the screen that was letting in water that goes straight down and sits at the bottom of the A pillar, especially around the wing bolt

very nice

Nice one. Another mod to add to the list

loving both the A4 and the mk4 ideas, one word of advise though, from my years of experience of working on Ford radios, if you can, try to fit the cup holder below the radio, I saw to many radios scrapped because coffee had spilt in the holder and when put back in the dash it drips straight into the radio and eats the PCB. Coffee is very corrosive to PCBs
