  1. My brother in law has one of these he's been restoring. Its white and has had the full works of a body restoration to an eye watering total..
  2. To the best of my knowledge the damper is ok, although it is a second hand part, so I can't guarantee it. Intention is that easypops is going to come round tonight with fresh eyes, vagcom and a few spares. Am on way to Preston now.
  3. I did see the above thread about the fuel line.. Seems to much of a coincidence that there is an ISV vac line issue (i can't even get it to start with the old one) but can with the spare.. IF its jumped a tooth stand by for a tasty breaking thread..
  4. I pulled them one by one and each one affected the running so assume them to be ok.. I can't help but feel the noice when i first started it was significant. It was a thud/crack noise, I've no idea what though..
  5. Another thing worth adding, if i disconnect the ISV plug with the car running it makes no difference..
  6. Better than nothing.. PM inbound...
  7. Id probably agree Jon.. I can get it to run but it 'put puts' and doesn't sound great. I don't want to do much more tonight, the neighbours won't be impressed with me starting and running the car.. Do you have Vagcom Martin?
  8. The sponge was hanging out the damper when i took it off..
  9. Would a MAF affect the start up?
  10. Update.. Changed damper box, can get it to run, sounds like a 3 cylinder.. Pulled each HT lead one by one and they appear ok. Disonnect the MAF while running and it starts to stall, reconnect and it starts to run a bit better. Bit stuck now, was getting up at 5 to head to a show, looks like that is sacked..
  11. I may need to take you up on that Martin.. Tried another damper.. Can hold an idle but sounds terrible.. My MAF is the one with the silver panel on it..
  12. Rough as a badgers.. Just changed the ISV, much the same..
  13. I havent mate, i wish i did though… Ive got a spare ISV i can try but no MAF..
  14. No the pst i was expecting to make but… There was an unusual noise when i went to start it, it will turn over and fire but dies shortly after. If i feather the throttle i can keep it going but as soon as i stop so does it. Tried an alternate coil pack, same.. Any other ideas?
  15. Im not sure yet.. I don't know if they are a bit radical for that type of gathering.. Heres another couple of pics.. Still not the best but from another angle..
  16. That are potentially for sale? I believe the one i mention could well be..
  17. Cheers guys.. Honestly i just can't capture a decent photo of them. The faces of the wheels are not flat at all, they curve in and look very deep in reality. Im glad i waited so long for that extra half an inch of width...
  18. Have been doing a few bits and bobs with the car recently, just more little bits of tidying.. Still haven't got the VSR on, just not quite right yet, will get there eventually.. Finally though the wheels are on. I can't get a decent picture, its just too bright (even here) but hopefully ill be able to get some soon. I was expecting them to look good but in the flesh I'm blown away by them, they are in my eyes absolutely perfect, who needs BBS RS.. :) I know opinions will be divided, its that kind of wheel.. The quality of the fill and drill (G23) is very good, nice and tidy job. I collected them from the being refurbed yesterday afternoon, they have been finished in the same dull silver as my others were. All nicely wrapped in Yokohama rubber (thanks to Mr Lobitos).. Anyway one picture..
  19. I did think of yours but it doesn't count…it doesn't move...
  20. I can think of only one that matches that description.. He may sell, you never know.. Wont be cheap though… Try Kipvw..
  21. Hope everyone isn't throwing them away… Now obsolete from VW...
