  1. Agreed in some ways.. I certainly don't mean do something outrageous to the Corrado just to make it different for different sake. Good example, the Golf Rallye, in standard form, sublime.. At Elsecar there were 20, some standard, some OEM + (so BBS and a drop), some motorsport themed and some full on custom work with non original colours.. I didn't think a single one looked out of place and they all complimented each other so well..
  2. My History.. Mk2 Ford Fiesta 1.1 Mk3 For Fiesta 1.1 My conclusion from these two was that the Mk2 was loads better and fueled dreams of RS this and Cosworth that.. Never had one so far.. 1999 Ford Escort 1.6 16v, good car at the time, had 20k on it.. 2002 Seat Leon TDI, suppose this is where the VW bug started for me (was 6 months old) 1995 Corrado 16v (Aqua Blue), talk about buying the first one you see, it was dreadful, i regretted it from the moment i started the drive home. 1995 Corrado Storm, went and bought the best car i could find to smooth over how much of a pillock i felt for buying the valve 1989 Mk2 Golf GTI 16v, Oak Green on small bumpers, great car, used as a daily and sold with minimal loss on the pocket 2 years later. 2003 Bora TDI, competent family car, very little room in the back and electrically fragile. 1983 Golf GTI 1.9, glad i did it but turns out I'm just not a MK1 man 1989 Mk2 Golf VR6, project that never took off so sold (found out later the guy who bought it wasn't insured and it was took off him and crushed) 2001 Golf 4mo, great car, underrated.. 2003 Saxo VTR, surprise one in the list. 48k, 1 lady owner and standard for 1200 quid. 2 years later and 2 MOTs walked and 25k miles it just does the job, nice to have a car i really don't care about.. Its also surprisingly good on the juice. 1994 Corrado VR6, the current one, having the above Saxo allows the often lavish spending on this...
  3. While the whit one isn't my cup of tea i think it looks great, such a different look.. Lets be honest, and maybe this fuels the Corrados non popularity amongst the VW Community, we all (with a couple of exceptions) stick to a very similar formula.. Its been a while since the "rule book" went out the window.. I have seen some of this valver on edition but i it would be nice to see a thread on here...
  4. Ill dig out the details of the guy i used… He was very reasonable..
  5. I really do like where you are going with this, I've been a massive fan of the dash since it was done but these extra bits are putting the icing on the cake..
  6. Not long home from this, some superb cars, yes a lot of stuff that isn't my cup of tea.. Very nice to see so many Rallyes in one go (i didn't count them but around 15).. Im glad the weather played the game as being inside was a bit loud so was nice to have a mooch around.. Id just like to thank Mr and Mrs Corrado for their hospitality, great night catching up (thats the hottest Pathia I've had)..
  7. I managed to find someone who can make any disc, any year, it is a nice touch and does draw questions at shows..
  8. Id have to agree, the interior is fabulous.. I like the car although the rear windows just look a bit awkward..
  9. Was indeed, not the cheapest anymore.. A good 8v is very desirable now though...
  10. Wasn't meant to be a worrier.. Probably just the pictures make them look different..
  11. What car are they from originally? Very nice job, you must be chuffed with them...
  12. Good news, may help values as well (so long as we stop talking them down)..
  13. Its baffled me why these and other Mk4 based wheels haven proven more popular for Corrados.. Refurbed and with the correct size rubber, id say bargain..
  14. Ive seen DDI ones and some others from Ebay… Massive difference in quality, if you want them then get the DDI ones.. http://www.dubdesignindustries.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=69_75_79&products_id=229
  15. Was in Collingwood a couple of weeks ago Martin, kept a look out for the Corrado or a Mk2, wondered if you were still working there.. Did see a late red Corrado near the gym area and wondered if it may be another car you had acquired.. Best of luck with the MOT and get some miles on that car. Planning any shows this year?
  16. Leave the cam cover on (or down to a couple of bolts) until you are ready to do the cams themselves.. Have you got a cam locking tool?
  17. When i put the 263s in i had sprockets on them already. There is enough slack in the chains, it is fiddly but doable. I think i removed one and fitted the new one in its place so was never cam less. That way the chains can't get dropped.. To ensure the timing wasn't altered all i did was make sure the cams were aligned against a locking plate (one tooth out on the sprocket would mean these wouldn't line up). Once in i hand barred the engine round and checked all timing marks (cam alignment, crankshaft pulley and the mark when you look down the chains, the intermediate sprocket).i did this several times to make sure i was happy. Time wise, are we talking from starting an engine strip down or have you got the cam cover ready to lift? If the latter i would say give it a couple of hours. Torque settings are all in the bentley manual. If you need anymore help fire away. Ive done this twice now, looking back the first time i was clueless so was very methodical 2nd time round..
  18. You have an eye for detail, not only in the bits you make to be fitted but those ramps are ingenious.. Craftsman..
  19. Back then Chris we all knew this was up there with the absolute best, a year later it was on RSs, pictures available if needed and now its even better..
  20. Interesting, rear tow eye present, standard leather seats (Recaros hadn't arrived yet) and rear badge differences.. Other than that as it was.. Never been sure on the headlight surrounds..
  21. Interesting stuff, not too worried about colour as ill just paint it afterwards...
  22. Have a picture on me..First time i met the car in 2006..
  23. Mike the Polisher has some textured powder coat so am happy to give that a try.. To be honest it looked ok until it was painted but the cleaner it is the worse it looks.. Bit of a shame but i suppose its inevitable with low volume production, no matter VW were going to relieve the customer for one..Id like to have it fitted for Elsecar but i don't think its realistic..
  24. Text sent to Chris.. On the subject of the VSR i had it blasted and have painted it and it looks dreadful. The casting is poor and is like an Aero bar.. Plan is to have some of it filled and use a textured powder coat before painting.. Would have liked to have it fitted but patience is needed, id like it to look spot on..
